supergirl s4 already is my favourite season of the show, but it could’ve been so much better if the conflict was between ben lockwood and kara danvers, not supergirl. i feel like the elite were good enough foes for supergirl. yes, kara was fighting both as a reporter and as a superhero, but lockwood’s main problem was with supergirl and what she represented. meanwhile, kara was an active alien rights activist, writing article after article about how harmful the children of liberty were, and no one seemed to pay attention to that.

an interesting thing they could’ve done is have lockwood expose how kara’s father was one of the people behind cadmus’ alien abduction and attempted deportation back in s2. since lex was using him as a pawn, he could’ve fed him this information and that would explain how lockwood found out.

that would’ve directly put kara in a conflict because not only was she the one to warn everyone back when it happened, but now she has to go on the record and say “yeah, no, fuck my dad. that guy sucks.” even though, despite her complicated relationship with him, she always loved him. not only that, but how would the people even react to this info coming out about the one journalist who's been the loudest about alien rights? all i’m saying is, it would’ve been an interesting thing to explore.
