He could find out who was hiding all the chocolate macarons, and have a serious discussion with whoever the thief was because chocolate macarons were so clearly the best and to hide them was nothing short of an act of cruelty, an offence punishable by- Just like that, he was assaulted by a devilishly yellow head covering. It hit him square in the face, knocking him into a puddle of mud behind him.  “Oh my!” He heard a horrified voice cry out. Colin opened his eyes to see Eloise’s friend standing right before his eyes. “My sincerest apologies! The wind knocked my hat clean off my head! Are you alright? Would you like some help? I hope you have not been hurt!”  Colin blinked, processing the absurdity of the situation he found himself in. This morning, he had been unsure if Penelope even existed, and now here she was, standing before him and apologising profusely as he lay in the dirt. What peculiar proof of a person’s existence. He could not help himself, he burst out laughing. “Well, that was not very well done of me, was it?”  Penelope blinked at him as Eloise came to her side. She recognised him instantly, irritation flashing across her face. “Colin, what on earth are you doing here?”  “ Colin? As in, your brother, the… the…” she turned to him, eyes shining with mortification. “Your Highness, I am ever so sorry for my carelessness, I-”  “Oh, do not worry, there is no need to apologise,”

the manifest au playlist

this is the playlist i made when i first started working on this fic. i listened to it constantly while i was writing, though it's changed a bit as the fic itself evolved from the initial idea into what it is now. it follows the story in chronological order (aside from tess's section which is just an interlude before the end), from the happiness at the beginning, through the loss and grief, the longing, the heartbreak, to finally finding each other again. several of the songs actually match up with specific chapters, so you guys can have fun parsing that out. it's essentially a soundtrack at this point. i hope you enjoy! i think it's fairly easy to tell which songs are from the perspectives of which characters, but in case you're wondering how i've personally attributed them, the breakdown is under the cut:
