Invaluable oxygen gets knocked out of your lungs as you violently tug the steering wheel to your chest. The whine of the Seamoth's gears sharply pierces through your helmet a the vehicle slows down barely in time to not collide with whatever just landed in front of you. You squint, leaning forward as if it will help to see any better. Clouds of sand absorb the already miniscule amount of sunlight that barely reaches this depth, glittering in the pillars of bright artificial light instead. Your grip on the wheel tightens as something else, something bigger glitters in it, too. Before the dust even has a chance to settle, the light from your headlights reflects back to you in a set of unblinking glowing eyes. You gulp. There's nowhere to hide. Miles upon miles of flat dunes of sand, seemingly never ending, soulless darkness. The only way out is up. And what then? You blink, remembering to inflate your aching ribcage with dense, cabin air. The leviathan's eyes burn a gaping hole in your skull, the animalistic reflective tissue dangerously twinkling from behind its retina. Like a cat's. And who's the mouse? The creature stays still, contorted in an unnatural upright posture, luring your gaze to follow the twisted curve of its spine. Bright ruby-pink fins lightly sway in the cold water current, akin to a blood kelp sprout. Rooted to the ground, standing on its arms just as still, it waits. Hypnotising. A head start? The dust around you two quietly settles, not unlike the white flakes in a snow globe, but in the middle of the ocean. Only nothing happens. No big reveal, no music, no lunging, no blood. No show. The leviathan stays where it was, statue-still. If it wasn't for the subtle sway of its fins, you'd think it's made of plastic. No, no, nothing happened yet, you remind yourself, breathing in the dense air through clenched teeth. A silent prayer on your tongue tastes like sea salt and rust, as you briefly sneak a peek at the Seamoth's control panel.

Will the god hear you at the bottom of the sea? Your shaky hands steer the wheel. "Do not." The thing immediately rasps before the sharp, almost anxious beep of the PDA drowns out the rest, interrupting both the creature and your every thought. What else could possibly be here? "Multiple leviathan class creatures detected." Your heart sinks. Multiple? "Are you sure whatever you are doing is worth it?"

Whoops! You wandered off into the Dunes. Worry not! Someone will chase you away from the deadly border for the price of a singular heart attack. Only one! Good enough, is it not?
