( It took me three fails to make his cake but thankfully I finished it on time! )

Just like I thought, the taste didn’t deceive me! I tried my best not to make it too sweet, therefore I truly hope Ayato-kun will like it.

Speaking of Ayato-kun, I wonder if he woke up. It might sound a bit childish but I really want to be the first to congratulate him~!

— Place shifts to Ayato’s room —

Yui: Eh? The door is open…? Could it be that he’s awak—…! He left?

???: Nfu, what’s with the long face? Did you and Ayato-kun have a fight~?

Yui: L-Laito-kun! Gosh, don’t just whisper in my ear like that!

If you were Yui, would you date Ayato or Ruki??

Ruki is a smart man, no doubt about it, and I like when people are wise, knowledgeable and mature. However, I think Ayato would be a much better match for me. From my point of view, one of the most important traits is being genuine, and while Ruki can be like that at times, Ayato beats him at this one. Ayato once again outperforms Ruki in terms of being supportive, which is also very significant, and I’ll always find it so precious how he’s the Diaboy who truthfully used the world “kirei” on Yui plenty of times. When you start dating him, he will undoubtedly see you as the most beautiful and amazing person in the world, which is exactly how it should be. Besides, I’m sort of an insecure person and I wouldn’t really like Ruki’s remarks or him making me feel inferior, lol. I like mentally-strong men, men who speak their minds, are unafraid to do or say something to help someone, can be forgiving, and make an effort to understand others. I would let things that have to do with intellect slide as long as the guy is authentic and capable of standing up for himself or for people in need at any given time.

Do you think Karlheinz has a favourite son? Or at least does he not punish any of them in the endings?

// I don't think any of them can be called "favorite" because Karlheinz doesn't seem to love any of them, he’s literally incapable to love, but I must admit that he’s biased towards Ayato.

Karlheinz literally rewinded time in order for Ayato to become Adam after he failed the first time, as confirmed in Young Blood. Furthermore, it is strongly implied in the second chapter, when he looks at him and touches his cheek, saying, "At the end of the day, Eden needs an Adam."

In terms of punishments, the triplets are the only Sakamakis who are not punished by Karlheinz in the endings. Furthermore, in Ayato's MB Manservant Ending, Yui poisons Ayato in order to paralyze him and make him belong to her entirely; then Karlheinz gets mad and kills her.

I doubt he loves or even cares about Ayato; he is his favorite simply because he is the real Adam. I'm still not sure why Karlheinz chose him, but Ayato’s whole being is a mystery; after all, there were a few other characters, including Ruki, who thought there was something special going on with Ayato. I wish we knew what exactly that is though xD

I don’t know why but as you said, I feel like Ayato really likes Yui’s looks. He only pulls the “you’re flat ha ha ha” because such insults are actually considered funny in japanese pop culture, that’s why many of them appear in anime as comedic relief. It’s been a while since I last played DL but I remember Ayato being the only love interest who called Yui - kirei - .As you stated as well, the other guys call her cute but he actually is the only one who used the word beautiful when referring to her. Correct me if I’m wrong but Subaru, Shu, Kou and many other characters stated even in good endings that Yui isn’t that pretty but they love her for who she is. That’s cute somehow but I feel like Yui deserves someone who appreciates her looks more than that. I’m more of a sucker for psychological horror so I can’t say Ayato’s a favorite of mine but these details are nice to notice. I love reading your posts regardless, have a great day!

Now that you’re mentioning it, I remember that! As far as I recall too, he’s the only Diaboy who called her beautiful instead of cute, which is a big word coming from someone like him, haha.

I understand Subaru's situation, which is more delicate because he suffers from self-hatred and the only person he most likely considers truly beautiful is/was Christa. The other guys just have high standards, yet it seems the audience likes it when they’re honest, for this reason DL tries to show that prettier girls shouldn't matter as long as the Diaboy’s significant other is the girl who has his heart under lock and key, the one who helped him heal.

However, I do agree that everyone needs someone to appreciate their looks, including Yui, who is insecure about herself (even before meeting the Sakamaki brothers). I guess that’s one of the reasons why Yui isn’t everyone’s best match but at the same time, that’s understandable because all Diaboys have different personalities and mindsets.

It really makes me feel uncomfortable when people call Yui like that because she genuinely looks her age from all points of view.

First of all, I have no clue why some individuals suddenly associated small chests with being a child but that’s literally so unsettling. She’s not even flat-chested to begin with, even Yui acknowledges that she does have some, as seen in cgs as well. In addition it was mentioned plenty of times that she got a developed body.

Secondly, it is canon that Yui looks older than Subaru ( she mentioned that).Moreover, I made this post a few months ago and as you can see, she looks as old as some Diaboys.

Thirdly, all otome heroines have youthful features but this doesn’t mean they look like children. Yui is one of the heroines whose face is more on the “mature” side rather than “moe”, for example.

Is Yui childish sometimes?Yes.

Was she labelled as a child by some characters? Yes, but not because she has the appearance of one. They simply called her like that because of her behavior or for the reason that she is younger than they imagined Eve/ the new sacrificial bride to be.

Do they see her as a child? Definitely not.

Ayato and Laito’s relationship as brothers is a constant push and pull from both sides

Laito is well-known for his teasing and Ayato is no exception to that. However, if Ayato strikes a nerve, Laito won’t hesitate to sting and make a nerve in Ayato swollen if it really came down to it

“Ne, Ayato, I’m really grateful you care so much about me however won’t Big Brother Shu not appreciate us bickering?” This right here is Laito being mean and he knows it. He knows that Shu is a sensitive topic to Ayato since Cordelia never stopped yapping about how Ayato should measure up to Shu and excel at him in everything so for Laito to ask Ayato to cater to Shu is just a sore and underhanded move

Once Laito finishes running his mouth, Ayato will CALL HIM OUT 100%

“HA-?! Since when did you rely on that lax bastard for anything?! Shut the fuck up and finish your quarrel with that creep Richter first, damned pervert.” Ayato does not think before he speaks; as evident in the drama CDs. Just like Laito, he too will use snarky comments and won’t restrain himself no matter how insensitive it is

Does he regret saying it during the moment? Absolutely not

But Ayato will be much quieter whenever he passes the corridor that links the triplet’s room. You’ll see him staring off into his textured basketball, almost in a lonesome gaze

Ayato’s pride won’t allow himself to lose and bitterly, Laito is no exception to that

Ayato knows what Cordelia has done to Laito and when the news of Laito being locked up in the dungeon hits him, he’s distraught and tried to plan an escape

He even went to Reji for help in getting the construction blueprints for the dungeons. Keywords here: ASKED FOR HELP

Reiji told him that only Karlheinz had access to the blueprints as everything that concerned the estate was locked away in his office in the event that Karl needed to reference and look over something for future renovations

Ayato then tried to use his familiars to check on Laito however he soon found out that there was a barrier that prevented familiars from going too far into the dungeon; a security measure in layman’s terms

The day Laito got out, Ayato knew everything had changed. Between Laito, between the triplets, between their mother, everything had changed

Using this as another reason to fuel his wrath against Cordelia, Ayato whispered something into Laito’s ears when they were both sitting quietly in the lake Cordelia nearly drowned Ayato in

The winds were still, a worrying concern for any sane sailor. The waves crashed into the shore and the ripples of the lake were calm; it was perhaps the only peace the two could have that year. But only one person broke that silence: Laito

“Why have you brought me here? Pity perhaps? If so, I’ve fallen so far down that even Lucifer’s jealous nfufu~” 

“...If you had the chance to kill that pathetic excuse of life, would you?”

“Of course, with no hesitation. I love her and she loves me.”

“Tch. Whatever.”

That scene replays in his head over and over whenever things get too rough between them. Because during that lowest point in Laito’s life, Ayato wanted nothing more than to get rid of the individual that made life hell for the three of them

It wasn’t fair that Laito was treated like a toy whenever Cordelia had no one to be with and it wasn’t fair that Ayato had to be forced to be a dutiful man when he was just a helpless child

Laito feels and knows a lot that he doesn’t let out. He knows that Ayato can’t forgive himself for his ‘failure’ to protect him. He knows that deep down, there’s an extreme pit of guilt that can’t escape Ayato whenever he faces deep into Laito’s feline eyes

Ayato wishes that if he had just been better, then maybe all of Cordelia’s attention could’ve gone to him rather than let Laito be a victim of her wandering eyes. 

But he wasn’t.

He was never good enough for her and now, Laito had to be the one to pay the price of his inability to succeed over Shu

This haunts Ayato but as always, he’ll never voice it out.

This emotional connection that Laito and Ayato have to each other binds them in a way none of the brothers have. They’re so similar with how they never want to voice out their discomfort in fear of being perceived as inferior (Laito being afraid to be emotionally vulnerable and Ayato being fearsome of being perceived that he needs help because he’s not capable enough)

They’re both so alike but in different ways and in different methods of handling them

However thanks to their past interactions, Laito helped grow Ayato’s confidence in being the first one to stick up for anyone in the family (he likes to pretend that it’s because he’s the strongest big brother and that it’s his duty now) but in actuality, he doesn’t know that for us humans, we simply just call this caring for one another

Ayato helps remind Laito that there’ll always be something to smile about. Ayato’s interactions with anyone are comedic for Laito because he’s laughing on the inside about how giddy Ayato gets when someone admires him from their freshmen section and how gleeful Ayato becomes when he scores the last point for his basketball game. Mostly because it’s all a serious 180° turn from the image Ayato wants to portray

Laito has helped stitch up the bunny doll Ayato has as Laito had experience with helping Kanato stitch up one of Teddy’s buttons in the past

Hey Admin,there is this one thing I would like to ask you. You have read/played so many routes but I’m really wondering why you chose Ayato your favorite Diaboy if there are 13 in total?I know he is the main one but is there anything that makes him better than the others in your eyes ?(I hope you don’t get this wrong,I like him but I just want to know why you like him the most)

Before starting writing down about this,i want to let you know that this is simply MY opinion, therefore it’s perfectly fine if you disagree with me.Also,TW!

I am aware that Ayato is definitely not the most interesting character but he’s truly the nicest of them all and that’s even confirmed by Rejet.

Although he did bad things in HDB,his route was way softer than the ones of his other two brothers.I’m not excusing his actions,he can be abusive and a big brat too but compared to other characters,he’s not even half as bad.

We know Ayato’s nickname for Yui is “Chichinashi” and despite the fact that it sounds offensive at first,he doesn’t say it in a degrading way,but in a teasing one.When he calls her like that,he’s in a playful mood and yeah,Yui got mad at first but it’s not like she took it personally.She always replied with either “Hey,I have a name!” Or with “I do have some!” .Also,at some point,Yui gets happy when she gets called like that because that means Ayato’s happy as well.You can notice that everytime Ayato’s being serious,he calls Yui by her name and unlike many Diaboys,he has never called her ugly(sounds like the bare minimum but anyway).A part of this fandom acts as if Ayato is the only one who insults Yui’s looks but he is actually the one who calls her pretty in EVERY game.

Shu and Kou might be the characters who degraded her the most.In Kou’s MB route,all the insults make Yui question herself if she truly isn’t cute at all. In Shu’s MB route,he calls Yui’s face“ugly” a huge amount of times and on top of that,he debases her body and basically everything about her.Should I also mention that he slut-shames her for every little thing she does?And the fact that he’s not kidding and is being 100% serious makes it sickening even for a vampire.I like both of them as characters but sorry no,Yui deserves way better than you two.

Now we’re back to Ayato’s acts of niceness.

There is this one scene in Laito’s HDB route,where Laito handcuffs Yui in the torture chamber and Ayato hears her and helps Yui take the handcuffs off.Then even Yui admits that Ayato’s surprisingly kind and everything’s just fine until Laito suddenly appears and decides to provoke Ayato to suck her blood.

In Laito’s LE route,Laito doesn’t accept the fact that he has became king therefore he doesn’t take any responsibility.Ayato,on the other hand,tries to help his brother,fills up the place and checks on the Demon World situation for him,plus he takes care of Yui too.Ayato actually feels really bad for him and even admits that he’d suffer if Laito died.

Ayato is the only Diaboy who always saves the heroine,even in game prologues.In the MB one,he helps her when Richter is close to assaulting Yui.He’s also the one who saves her during the car crash.In the DF prologue,he protects Yui from the wolves who have attacked them and ends up severely injured.

In Kino’s LE route,Kino holds them hostage,therefore Ayato sacrifices himself for Yui and gets burned alive and tortured instead of her.

What has always made me sad is the fact that everyone in the DL universe underestimates Ayato.Throughout his life he had been mentally and psychically abused by his mother but unlike other characters,that’s not something that only happened in the past but it’s still happening in the actual timeline too.

He gets told things such as “failure”, “disappointment” , “nobody loves you”, “you will never be a good king” and many more,by other Diaboys.These are things he’s canonically very insecure about but nobody seems to care therefore they simply put salt on the wound.

The thing is ,Ayato might act like a bully sometimes but he never means the things he says,he knows what topics to avoid so as he won’t trigger anyone’s trauma and I wonder,if he cares about that ,why can’t others do the same too?Even Yui admitted that she’s done with people who keep mistreating Ayato!

In his LE,Ayato loses control over his powers and ends up blowing up the house.Everyone gets so extremely mad at him for doing that but they surprisingly forgive Kanato for blowing up a whole clan???And unlike others,Ayato has apologized.

Apparently the reason why some Diaboys kept degrading Ayato is because of “jealousy”.Sorry but that’s just some sort of dumb excuse.

What I really appreciate about Ayato is the fact that he’s so forgiving!

In his DF route,he forgives his mother.Can you believe it?He was able to forgive Cordelia,the person who abused and ruined him!Honestly,this shares the same vibe with Yui forgiving the Diaboys for all the things they did to her.

In CL,despite Ruki insulting him way too much,Ayato gets worried when he and others suddenly faint and is willing to help them.

As I mentioned earlier,Kino tortured Ayato,even so Ayato forgives him and on top of that,they kinda befriend each other.

I will absolutely never feel bad because Ayato is considered “the main hero” by Rejet.He deserves it 100% because he’s the most heroic Diaboy out of them all and I’m not even saying it for the reason that he’s my favorite,that’s simply obvious.

I know it’s unfair that he’s getting more spotlight than others,but I’m still glad that he’s able to prove everyone how wrong they were about him.

Also his design is extremely eye-catching and he got such charismatic features!(*´∇｀*)

Taking everything into account,yes,Ayato got plenty of flaws,he’s far from perfection but I can’t deny how amazing and kind (for a vampire) he is.

DL Headcanons that I will not explain

(Contains some spoilers!)

Azusa tries on Yuma’s clothes when he’s not around. He likes how big they are and even plays with the sleeves that hang from his hands like a kid.

Shin broke his mirror after he lost his eye out of anger.

Richter would have been an amazing character (maybe even decent guy) if it wasn’t for all the trauma and pain people put him through.

The nickname “Shu” was given to him by Beatrix or Reiji. I lean more towards Reiji though. (Imagine baby Reiji calling Ririe “Shu” >_<)

Laito takes a deep breath once he’s alone in his room, dropping his perverted facade entirely. Definitely crashes on the bed though.

On extremely rare occasions Ruki will check on his brothers as they sleep just to make sure they’re okay.

Beatrix used to check on Subaru sometimes just to make sure he was okay, just a simple interaction but he would often ignore her.

Kino has gaming competitions with Subaru on their phones. Subaru has lost every time.

Carla has nearly tripped over his own scarf multiple times but luckily nobody has seen him. (that would end badly)

Both Laito and Ayato purposely team up against Kanato out of pure boredom.

Azusa can speak multiple languages. (more than Ruki)

Beatrix was just like Shu when she was younger, she too had a human friend and was happy.

Subaru has broken the TV after seeing Kou appear on it.

Kanato once had a bath where he put sweets on styrofoam plates to have them float around him. They fell in the tub.

Ayato had bought multiple of what he though Giant Takoyaki balls online but it turned out to be soap/bath bombs.

Kou has set his brothers on blind dates before and they were pissed. Except Azusa, he thought he was making a friend.

Shin tried bonding with Carla over ham but quickly got tired after eating 10 different brands in one sitting.

Azusa has gotten suspended from school after bringing his knives to show the class.

All the Sakamaki brothers have given Reiji a Mother’s Day present just to spite him. He was not pleased.
