This was such a longterm project for me; some days I would get inches done and others felt like nothing changed. When I collected all of my progress pictures, they were between so many memories. This summer had some big ups and downs for me, and this piece has become a memorial to them. Hell, forget summer: so much has changed in my life since March. I got a puppy and kitten, reached a new point of self-esteem, made friends, lost friends, and overall had a suffocatingly busy time.
I think my favorite segment is the one with red, orange, and yellow. It was one of the easier ones to get into the stitching groove with, and I love how the gradient came out. (Pretty much all of the segments were my favorite while I worked on them, tbf)

Finished my back to school shoes just in time. When I stitched a swallowtail into my backpack two days before the first day, that was a very time consuming and painful ordeal. Started way earlier this time, which took off a lot of the stress. The time each part took was wildly inconsistent, with the butterflies taking under 5 hours (I think it was like 3 or 4) while the curve of Pascal's tail took me a long time to do in bits and pieces when I was able. With the butterflies, leafs, and flowers, I took a much more laid back approach, using combinations of stitching styles, a contrast to the pure satin stitch of Pascal. I don't really like the look that came from splitting up the satin stitch in his back, but I couldn't have loose stitching on shoes I'm going to wear every day. The ribbing along the edge was superrrr easy because I just followed the existing seams, only needing to puncture the shoe when I needed to change thread or switch to a new section.

Took me a while to get through the second half of this piece because life got way too busy 馃様. I was going to hold off on posting until I figured out how to display it, but I figure I won't get around to it for a while. (After over a year of stitching, I've only finished 2 pieces for display, and that's because they were gifts!)
My favorite part of this design was probably the little lake. I'm a sucker for the blue used on the edges and I love how it connects the foliage to the more distant mountains.
I'm currently working on a lovely design by loosethreadstitchery, so that should be done in a few months. Until then o/
