bc i realized that not everyone view it the same way

war chiefs in azgeda to me and in my threads are not the same thing as the village/war chiefs in trigeda that we have seen. because azgeda’s territory is far larger than the rest of the clans and the fact that they are monarchy based, to me a war chief is far closer to that of a warlord in feudal/tokugawa japan than a village chief. they have multiple villages under their control the two most powerful being ERIE ( second most powerful ) and MARS ( most powerful ) together they themselves control about half of azgeda’s territory, there are 10-12 wr chiefs in general and two by themselves control half the territory.

She doesn’t seem to be a threat-- but it’s been a LONG time since they’ve seen each other, and he has no doubt with the tone she’s taken with him that she blames him for whatever’s happened to her. Thus, Theo lets his guard down-- but only some. His shoulders relax, but his feet remain planted, ready to move at any given second.

“Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer,” he can’t help but think out loud. A healer on the queen’s guard? SOMETHING must have happened to have Ela keep Kensi so close. And it wasn’t just her training, either. He keeps the conversation light, though. “From the sounds of it, you want to call her something else entirely... Which I think is much more appropriate, given what she’s DONE to you.”

       part of her is still IN SHOCK. her father. her father is alive and he’s found her. a small part of her, the little girl just aching for a father’s love, is ecstatic, but the rest of her is angry. what ? now he’s lonely so SHE’S ENOUGH for him ? he might have been ignorant to her mother’s pregnancy, but he could have fought tena’s exile instead of letting his wife ruin both of their lives. but, according to TESLIN, ela ran things anyway.

       at his words, she instantly tenses. does he really think knowing her grandfather made the same mistake would somehow make this BETTER ? ❝ so this kind of mistake is genetic then, lovely, ❞ she drawls, not even moving to meet his gaze. ❝ if you’re trying to WIN ME OVER by telling me i’m not alone, it’s not working. it just makes me even more DISGUSTED you let this happen in the first place. ❞

She says what’s on her mind despite knowing who he is. ( Good. ) Though, he supposes he’s not at all surprised-- he doesn’t hold any power anymore, and now he’s merely an old man. An old man who she barely knows. And she is his estranged daughter, who he barely knows ( but is coming to know her all the same ). And right now, he knows she has every right to be bitter. So he simply shrugs at her statement. ( She’s right. )

However, he wasn’t trying to win her over. Theo was only trying to find some kind of connection, and in turn-- all she sees is blame. And sure, maybe he is to blame. But he has his reasons why he did what he did. “Do you think the people of Azgeda would have respected their KING if he fought the Queen on keeping another woman around? It wasn’t going to be a secret, you know. She wouldn’t have allowed it to go quietly unless she had complete control. It was the only way I could keep your mother alive.” A mercy banishment. If one could even CALL it that.

      she can’t help the PRIDE that goes through her when she successfully surprises him. it’s been a long time since she’s seen him, and she can’t decide how she feels about it. she’s ANGRY, of course she is, but theo’s crime was one of neglect, not one he actively committed. she comes to stand NEXT TO HIM, gently petting the horse’s mane. ❝ you’re welcome to try, though i’ll warn you, your wife’s attempt to kill me didn’t work as she planned. i may be a CRIPPLE now, but i’m still walking this earth. she’s not. ❞

Barely does his head turn, for he does not need to turn it all the way. He knows that voice anywhere. Remembers it while he was always being patched up. Remembers the LECTURES he would always receive ( and never listen to, for he was always back in the infirmary one way or another ). He never expected to hear it again, though. Especially under THESE circumstances. Still, he is unsure if she is a threat or not, so he keeps his guard up. “Mm. You and me both... How did you find me, Kensi?”

Theo kom Azgeda died in praimfaya. Well, clearly not if he’s being DRAGGED to see his granddaughter. Honestly, he’s never been more offended in his LIFE. Though, he supposes after being trapped for six years and believing that EVERYONE on the surface was dead, he wouldn’t believe that he was still alive, either. Still. One would think that still being dressed in Azgeda garb would be sign enough.

“Dear granddaughter, would you please tell your men to stop FONDLING me,” the former king huffs upon being brought in front of the now Queen of Azgeda ( something of which he never thought he’d see ). “They do not seem to believe that I could have survived praimfaya all by my lonesome.”

The forest is quiet, save for the occasional sounds of whatever god forsaken bugs are awake and the crackling fire that keeps him and Reta warm at night. Often do they spend nights like these in silence, that of which Theo really doesn’t mind. ( He’d rather sit in silence than constantly argue, as per usual. ) But then he sees something in the fire, something that reminds him of someone. Of course it would be her FIERY red hair. Of course it would be someone he hadn’t seen in years ( provided she still lives, that is ). His jaw tightens ever so slightly, brows and corners of his lips pulling down. ( He misses his sister. )

It only takes a few moments to realize that he’s now become his father. Eyes flicker to his estranged daughter for a moment. Every time he looks at her, he finds something new, something of Tena or himself inside of her. Every time, he wonders if there was more he could have done to stop Ela. ( There always is, but he stops himself from getting so far into those thoughts that weigh his chest down. ) After shifting his gaze back to the fire, he decides to mention his sister ( and makes a note to go find her very soon ). “You have an aunt. Born out of wedlock, same as you.”

It was RARE that Theo let others take care of his horses for him, especially now that he has so much free time. However as King, he almost had no choice. ( More to do, less downtime to bond. ) He always believed in creating that UNBREAKABLE bond between himself and his horse. Thus, that is what he is found doing-- brushing Boreas’ mane and humming some old song from his childhood when he feels a presence behind him. ( One he hadn’t even heard sneak up behind him. ) All the hairs on the back of his neck stand up-- but the horse does not seem to be uneasy. An unexpected peaceful visitor sneaking up on him? “Speak, before I decide to decorate the stable with your blood,” Theo grunts as he keeps brushing, though he’s aware of EVERYTHING around him, now.
