Solar power expected to account for 20% of U.S. electricity output by 2050
Tumblr media
Solar energy has been used for generations, and solar-powered electricity was first produced in the United States in 1954. Solar energy is currently used to create electricity in two ways: photovoltaics (PV) and solar thermal. Solar PV cells, like those seen on rooftop solar panels, turn sunlight into electricity directly. Solar thermal facilities employ mirrors to focus sunlight at a central receptor, generating the high temperatures required for a steam-powered turbine to create energy.

Solar power expected to account for 20% of U.S. electricity output by 2050
In 2021, solar power is expected to account for 4% of total electricity output in the U.S. Solar is expected to contribute 5% of total power output in the U.S. by 2022; 14% of total electricity output in 2035; and 20% in 2050 in the U.S., according to a recent report. This data covers energy generated by utility-scale (producing 1 megawatt or more) and small-scale (producing less than 1 megawatt) solar installations in the electric power, commercial, residential and industrial sectors.

World’s largest countries may be powered for the majority by wind and solar energy
Tumblr media
Even without energy storage, the most dependable systems, which are dominated by wind generation, can supply electricity demand 70% to 90% of the time in the nations studied, according to the study. Solar power now outperforms systems that can meet demand 80% to 95% of the time, thanks to the addition of 12 hours of energy storage capacity.
In many areas, wind and solar may meet more than 80% of demand without requiring large storage. However, depending on the country, energy storage and other non-fossil energy sources may be necessary to meet demand in a zero-carbon future across numerous multi-day periods throughout the year.

World’s largest countries may be powered for the majority by wind and solar energy
Strategies for decarbonizing electricity infrastructure are a hot subject as people reflect on the United Nations COP26 climate meeting in Glasgow, Scotland. Renewable energy detractors challenge the durability of systems that rely on variable resources. A new study headed by the University of California, Irvine, confronts the question of dependability head-on.
According to a study published in Nature Communications, the majority of current electricity demand in advanced, industrialized countries may be covered by a mix of wind and solar power. However, further efforts will be needed to meet these needs.

Seven Ways to Use Solar Energy
The sun is the source of all life on this planet, and it provides us with a wide range of power sources. The sun creates two types of energy: heat and light, which we can utilize for a range of things including photovoltaic (PV) cell power generation, photosynthesis in plants and heating water and food.

4 Key Components of How Solar Panels Generate Power
Tumblr media
Photovoltaic (PV) cells, which are generally constructed of silicon, are found in solar panels. These convert incoming sunlight into energy rather than heat.
A positive and negative silicon sheet is put beneath a thin layer of glass in solar photovoltaic cells. The electrons in these cells are knocked off the silicon when photons from the sun strike them. As a result, negatively charged electrons are drawn to one side of the silicon cell, generating an electric current that is collected and distributed throughout the home.

4 Key Components of How Solar Panels Generate Power
Solar energy is a clean, dependable and excellent renewable energy source. It can be used to heat your home’s water or generate power, all without emitting any pollutants. The most basic explanation for how solar panels generate electricity is that they absorb the sun’s light and then use it to power your home.
There’s a lot more to it than that, and each system component serves an important purpose. This article walks you through how everything works by examining each piece separately.

Selling or Buying a Solar-Powered Home
Tumblr media
When it comes time to sell, solar panels boost the value of a house. A solar energy system can add roughly $15,000 to the sale price of a home on average. In the future, homes with green features such as solar panels are projected to sell faster and for a higher price.
These benefits, however, are most commonly associated with homeowners who have purchased rather than leased solar panels.

Installing solar panels on half of the world’s houses could provide enough electricity to power the entire planet
Tumblr media
A new article published in Nature Communications examines how many rooftop solar panels would be required to create enough renewable energy for the entire world as well as where they would be placed. Their research is the first to produce a thorough picture of worldwide rooftop solar potential, evaluating rooftop area and sunlight coverage at sizes ranging from cities to continents.
To generate enough energy to meet the world’s annual consumption, roughly half of the world’s buildings need solar panels on the roof.

Installing solar panels on half of the world’s houses could provide enough electricity to power the entire planet
Rooftop solar panels are currently about 80% less costly than they were over a decade ago. As a result, rooftop solar photovoltaics have become even more appealing to homeowners and companies looking to minimize their reliance on electrical networks while lowering their carbon footprints as costs have dropped.
Is there, however, enough rooftop space for this technology to create affordable, low-carbon energy for everyone who requires it? After all, ideas like these aren’t just for people who own their own homes and want to save money. Almost 700 million people throughout the world do not have appropriate accessibility to electricity.

Solar Tip: Start process of installing solar panels now to take advantage of current solar tax credit
Tumblr media
A tax credit is a decrease in the amount of federal income taxes that a person or business would have to pay otherwise. The ITC is calculated based on how much money was invested on the solar property. Both the residential and business ITCs are equal to 26% of the cost invested in solar property that qualifies. The ITC then reduces based on the following schedule:
For projects starting in 2021 and 2022, the percentage will be 26%.
Projects that start development in 2023 will receive a 22% discount.
After 2023, the residential credit will be zero, while the commercial credit will be 10% for the rest of the time.

Solar Tip: Start process of installing solar panels now to take advantage of current solar tax credit
One of the most important federal policy instruments for supporting the expansion of solar energy in the U.S. is the solar Investment Tax Credit. The solar industry in the U.S. has grown by over 10,000% since the tax credit was established in 2006, creating numerous employment opportunities and investing billions of dollars in the economy. The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) strongly supported numerous extensions of this important tax credit, including the most recent postponement of the credit phasedown until December 2020.
Solar customers who are interested in taking advantage of this tax credit should begin their solar project sooner rather than later!

India unveils world’s biggest floating solar plant
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), a state-owned company, announced India’s largest floating solar facility commissioning. In Andhra Pradesh, the project is near the Simhadri thermal power plant and covers up to 100 acres of water surface area.
The initiative will not only generate clean electricity but also minimize water evaporation by covering the water. In addition, due to the cooling impact of the water on the panels, it will produce more electricity than traditional ground-mounted solar installations. BHEL created this innovative floating array to satisfy the unique need of anchoring support structures without contacting or loading the reservoir floor.

Biden administration estimates solar will account for roughly half of all power generated by 2050
Tumblr media
Solar, the cheapest and fastest-growing renewable energy source, may provide enough electricity to power all U.S. homes by 2035, creating up to 1 million jobs.
The future of solar energy is bright. Solar energy has evolved into a more cost-effective and ecologically friendly energy source that might help meet the world’s growing need for electricity. The industry should expect sustained growth over the next decade, thanks to low-cost financing alternatives for homeowners who wish to install their own panels and a projected rise in installations.
