This isn't even a matter of how long I can get away with it anymore even if it still kinda feels like it

Do you ever get frustrated that it feels like everyone around you knows what you're going through and knows it better than you do? That things will just be fixed by a snap when you know you just need time and this whole "clicking thing" is not as simple like you're just an equation to solve and it's simple
I'm not doing anything right now bc I'm not in the headspace. Yes it's not the wisest, yes it's not anything of the best or good but gd can't I just process it my own way
And why does it feel like even as I let things out that this isn't even what i really wanna say

Friends, do you use 2FA to log in to Tumblr?
If so, here are some things that I want you to do.
#1: Log in through a browser (because you can't access these settings on the app)
#2: Go to your account settings and under the 2FA section, click on this:
Tumblr media
That will generate a bunch of ten-digit codes.
#3: Save those codes somewhere that you'll be able to find them. I'd recommend copying them to the notes section of a password manager as a first place to save them. There's an option to print them as a PDF; do that too and save it to your desktop as "Tumblr Recovery Codes" because we're gonna go on a recovery code spree today.
See, here's the thing that I just found out: Google Authenticator is pretty determinedly device-specific, and if you switch phones there's no way to recover your authenticator if you haven't downloaded the app data or saved the google authenticator recovery codes. Just logging in with a username, password, and the same phone number won't cut it. If you deleted your authenticator app and its data when you switched phones and you don't have any of your recovery codes from that authenticator, that access is gone. You can't get it back.
From a security standpoint, I understand that. That DOES make it a lot harder for people to hack into your account.
From an "average people trade in their phones and lose data, or may drop their phones and damage them in such a way that the data is unrecoverable, and people are pretty bad at remembering where they put their recovery codes" standpoint, this is fucked.
SO, while you know that you have access to your various devices and accounts that have 2FA, you should go and generate 2FA recovery codes, save them to your password managers, and save them as PDFs or JPGs in a folder on your desktop labeled "Recovery Codes," making sure to name each file for what the codes are associated with (so "google authenticator recovery codes" or "duo recovery codes" or "password manager recovery codes" or "tumblr recovery codes" or "primary email recovery codes").
Tumblr cannot help you with this. They are legally obligated not to help you with this. They are not supposed to help you with this; even if you can prove that you have access to the account from a logged-in device, tumblr cannot help you to log in from a different device because they have no way of knowing if you're the legitimate owner of an account or if you're someone who found a cellphone with a logged-in account that you now want full access to.
Google cannot and will not help you to recover authenticator access unless you have data proving that you were the owner of the previous authenticator, which means transferring access to a new device via a QR code or a recovery code. There are, again, extremely good reasons for this, but if your phone fell into the ocean and you had not saved recovery codes anywhere else, you are fucked, and if that is how you log in to all of your accounts everywhere you are mega-fucked.
Other authenticators like Authy, Duo, and Microsoft Authenticator, are somewhat more transferable, but it is still important to save your recovery codes somewhere that you will not lose them.
Again, I recommend using a password manager with a section that allows you to keep notes and adding your recovery codes to the notes, and I recommend creating a desktop folder called "Recovery Codes" and saving your recovery codes for various accounts there saved by the title of the account. I recommend creating these codes *today* with a priority emphasis on authenticators because you don't want to get locked out of your shit. And if you did get locked out of your shit because of a google authenticator that's not your fault, there is NOWHERE NEAR enough discussion about how completely you can be screwed over by this. I find this very troubling because Google pushes its products so much and so many people who are not particularly technical are going to prefer google authenticator (it's right there, it's often pre-installed, it's a known brand) over having to trust some little company they've never heard of, but google makes recovering their authenticator damned near impossible.
If you DID have google authenticator on a previous device, I recommend following this process to transfer it to another device immediately. While you're at it, go generate passcodes or backup access for the following authenticators:
Authy
Duo
Google
You should be able to find the process for generating 2FA recovery codes on most apps or accounts by searching "generate account recovery codes for _____."
Also, any time a website says "save these codes somewhere that you won't lose it!" or "make sure you don't lose this recovery code!" that website is serious. If you lose it there is nothing they can do to grant you access. It sucks, but it is actually for a good reason; you don't *want* them granting access to every random person logged in through a cellphone they could have snagged out of someone's purse.
And this is also your reminder to periodically export the contents of your password manager and save them in a secure place! You should do that every couple of months so that you've got a local copy of your passwords in case your password manager's developer gets DDoSed or something.

We definitely need to tax the rich to hell and back while capitalism is still a thing, so we don't begrudge everyday people who use this slogan. But in the grand scheme of things, we really gotta be thinking bigger. Individuals shouldn't be able to get Rich in the first place, especially when it's off the backs of the working class both domestic and abroad. Even welfare capitalism/social democracy is bound up with imperialism and exploitation, and so we need to go further.

Witcher is not Slavic! It’s Polish. But in a good way.
Warning: It’s long post. And I didn’t even covered all I wanted. Also I’m not really used to write in English so sorry for mistakes. I tried to find links to as many English translations to things I mention as I could.
Tumblr media
That’s the one. True Pole.
There is a lot talking about how slavic The Witcher is. Monsters, believes ect… But it’s not. The Witcher was written by Andrzej Sapkowski, who was a fan of fantasy and he wrote fantasy. Based on what he knew from the genre. But also it was written by Polish author, in Polish language, for Polish readers and to be published in Poland. We can say many things about Sapkowski, but one thing is certain, he is great writer. It’s really easy to forget and I’m kinda suprised everytime I read the books. So our Wiedźmin was a fantasy stories, then saga, wtitten by fantasy fan that did’t pretend that he wasn’t from Poland.

Hi fun fact, colors do have meaning and there is a legit thing called color theory. The rainbow does have more positive connotations than negative like the @ mintymaiden said. For example, violet is associated with more money, wisdom, and elegance than with blood and death just like the chart shows you. Also, check out “The Designer’s Dictionary of Color” by Shaune Addams. Have fun learning something

I like that the presumption here is that “No One On Grumblr Has Heard of Color Theory. Let Me Explain in Depth” rather than simply acknowledging that the VISUAL EFFECTS of this particular color choice, applied in the manner it was, can still amount to “this is a hospital and that looks like blood”
like, color theory doesn’t exist in a vacuum. If your design of choice for Hemospectrum Paint is asymmetric splatters and splotches against the wall, or in this case, a shellbeast trail on the hallway’s floor, and infographic won’t override the viewers’ instinct

Microsoft announces it will shut down ebook program and confiscate its customers' libraries
Tumblr media
Microsoft has a DRM-locked ebook store that isn’t making enough money, so they’re shutting it down and taking away every book that every one of its customers acquired effective July 1.
Customers will receive refunds.
This puts the difference between DRM-locked media and unencumbered media into sharp contrast. I have bought a lot of MP3s over the years, thousands of them, and many of the retailers I purchased from are long gone, but I still have the MP3s. Likewise, I have bought many books from long-defunct booksellers and even defunct publishers, but I still own those books.
When I was a bookseller, nothing I could do would result in your losing the book that I sold you. If I regretted selling you a book, I didn’t get to break into your house and steal it, even if I left you a cash refund for the price you paid.
People sometimes treat me like my decision not to sell my books through Amazon’s Audible is irrational (Audible will not let writers or publisher opt to sell their books without DRM), but if you think Amazon is immune to this kind of shenanigans, you are sadly mistaken. My books matter a lot to me. I just paid $8,000 to have a container full of books shipped from a storage locker in the UK to our home in LA so I can be closer to them. The idea that the books I buy can be relegated to some kind of fucking software license is the most grotesque and awful thing I can imagine: if the publishing industry deliberately set out to destroy any sense of intrinsic, civilization-supporting value in literary works, they could not have done a better job.
