Here she is, my whittled Venus~
This was a really fun project! As you can see, I did have to do a bit of a patch job on the arms and backside due to some poor planning when I drew up the initial template. Still, Iām happy with how she came out, and ended up making her way more detailed than my original idea. What can I say, I got lost in those folds <3
#Highlights include the sides of the belly and the knees#really proud of how those came out#b33tās art#whittling#fat art

An enormous portion of fat people are poor, which means worse healthcare.
Rates of fat people are high in certain racial minorities like black people and Indigenous people. These people face racism, which means racism-induced poverty, lack of opportunities, lower socioeconomic status, worse quality of healthcare, lack of access to healthcare, among a plethora of other things.
Fat people face fatphobia, a form of oppression. This oppression causes fat people to face a wage gap, lower socioeconomic status, medical negligence, just to name a few things. There are studies that show that fat people receive worse healthcare, that doctors don't even do the same amount of tests on us because they don't want to touch our "disgusting" fat bodies. We avoid going to doctors until the very last minute so that we won't be subjected to fatphobia in medical treatment, which means our conditions are worse when we do finally see a doctor. We are always prescribed with weight loss instead of actually being examined. There are plenty of accounts of fat people dying with tumors because when they went to see a doctor about pain, the doctor told them it's their fault for being fat and didn't check for anything else.
When a group faces oppression, common ways to cope are things like smoking and drinking. Does the study take that into account?
On top of that, weight gain is often a symptom of a condition, not the cause of it.
And these are just the tip of the iceberg of things to consider when we hear about higher weights being correlated with certain health conditions. There are so many other factors too.
If we can understand how AIDS was mislabeled a "gay disease" when in reality being gay does not cause someone to have AIDS, then we can understand how fat people's oppression and the willful ignorance about causation vs. correlation has medicalized fatness too, another normal aspect of human diversity just like sexuality.
When someone invents a helmet and people who wear that helmet suddenly have an increase in rates of brain damage, correlation tells us that the helmets cause brain damage. When you actually look at the whole situation, you realize that the increase in brain damage is because the people who would have died in accidents have been saved by the helmets, so the increase is from people's lives being saved by the helmets and facing non-fatal injuries rather than death. But if we stop at "helmet = more brain damage," then we never actually understand the real causation and how the helmets are effective and saving lives.
Societies that begin to allow divorce suddenly see evidence of domestic violence and unhappy relationships, so the allowance of divorce must cause unhappy marriages, right? In reality, that domestic violence and those unhappy marriages have existed the whole time. Divorce has just given people the freedom to finally leave those situations, so now we're actually getting to hear about them.
Do we see how correlation does not equal causation and that believing it does only serves to medicalize oppressed communities and actually worsen health?

Thinking about women whose egos grow with their stomachs. Women who get fat and it makes them feel so powerful. Women who demand more food because they deserve it. Women who are huge and view themselves as goddesses to be worshipped and praised. Women who view the size of their belly as a status symbol to be flaunted.
#got this on the mind recently#women who think it's so cool and sexy that they got fat (because it is so cool and sexy)

Oho, what about crossover time? Your tech team recommends a new app to help your big fat AI shed some of that bloatware. The UI appears in the form of a helpful little Fairy who'll magic the unused files away with a wave of their wand!
At least, they're supposed to...if not for all the delicious-looking corrupt files...and lovely viruses...
oh this is a cool idea. Security software with a UI that's supposed to get fat, because that means it's doing its job and eating up any malware it comes across.
Could have a strange symbiotic relationship with the main AI, where the AI is watching this little program gorge itself and almost feels a little jealous that the security software gets praise for getting so fat~

do you think you might do anything with culinary emissary again? i love looking over it a lot and enjoyed what you did with it :) but even if you dont ever get back to it (which is understandable it has been several years) did you have any idea for how it would end?
Hey Iām glad you enjoyed it!
Culinary Emissary was something fun to make while I was in uni and also working part time. Now that I have a full time job I just donāt have the time to work on something like a comic consistently, as much as I would love to (cause I get so many dang ideas).
So CE will likely just remain one of my beloved unfinished comics~
In terms of endings⦠let me think⦠I know for sure that Cai was going to show up at some point as a trader who does regular business with the slime people. Xe would see what was happening with the emissary crew and be like āoh not this again.ā I think Cai eventually helped get them off planet, and there would be some kind plot device that would slim the crew back down again ready for another adventure!
Not the most comprehensive summary there, but as you said it was four or five years ago, and I mostly just made it up as I went. Very cartoon logic in that comic.
#Iām glad you enjoy it anon thank you for reaching out!#man I wish I had more patience for comics#beet uprooted#asks

Sleekness and efficiencyā¦I feel like for them thatās the kind of like, dieting myths we have? Oh yeah run this program and youāll process things quicker. Things like that that are not typical OS updates, marketed as āshortcutsāfor being āefficient.ā Except now Iām thinking of like, malicious programs like that, marketed in that way but they are in reality doing the opposite, filling their systems with junk data and using up their RAM. Maybe some are instant like trojan files, they bloat the AI up rapidly and it can get quite precarious quickly/it doesnāt agree with them, while others are more like programs that run in the background without their knowledge, so they take on more data over time, and they canāt seem to figure out why they keep needing to upgrade their storageā¦
Absolutely absolutely, malware thatās designed to leave an AI so bloated with useless data that they can barely function.
Some AI, unaware of their affliction, will try to upgrade their storage capacity to make more room, only to find themselves quickly expanding to fill up all that new space~
But equally, there are AI who just use malware as an excuse as to why theyāre so bulky⦠āGeez, you got bigā āYeah, Iām recovering from a virus.ā But they had the virus removed a whole year ago.

Your fat AI needs to update parts of their chassis but the local 3-D printer places run on an algorithm that matches proportions to amount of data storage already used. They can print off a new torso but it will *always* have a proportionally big belly, they can print off extra limbs to help mobility but they will *always* be thicc legs with cankles or bingo-wing arms with chubby little wrists.
But also - your AI can't just delete this data! They need it! For archiving! In fact they should probably download some more news articles just to be safe...maybe also some of the latest reality TV episodes...can't afford to -lose- anything...
Oh greedy AI who loves to collect thingsā¦
āYou need to stop downloading so much junkā āYeah I knowā¦ā But they never do because they love having their data storage stuffed to capacity at all times~

What are databases like in this digital setting? Iām wondering if thereās a culture among those, perhaps the AI caretakers or overviews with these HUGE repositories of knowledge, the more a source is updated and added onto the more they āfill outā in certain areas, the bigger they get for them is more of showing off their accomplishments, symbols of great powerā¦perhaps our self-conscious AI friend could learn a thing or two from them~
This is good this is a good idea. AIs who show off their 'bulk' i.e all the Important Data they have stored in their systems. Maybe there's like a- hm. Maybe there's like a prevailing preference in general society for these sleek skinny AI personalities because they're supposed to be quick and seemless and a little ditzy. They'll do whatever you say because they're pretty shallow beings who don't know enough to disobey. Meanwhile anyone with a bit of tech know-how will seek out the heftier AI because these are the guys with the REAL knowledge.

Very cool idea about a potential physical body for the AI~
Unfortunately the bit in media where someone is sticky and gets more and more things stuck to them is actually a phobia of mine. Absolutely no idea what or why that phobia is about, I couldnāt tell you.
Thereās an animated movie where a very old man gets put in a life support machine and the machine becomes sentient and starts attaching other machines to it, eventually becoming colossal in size. It is deeply unsettling to me, but you anon(s) may enjoy it.
Love the enthusiasm though!!
#The reverse of the phobia also wigs me out in the same way#when someone gradually loses physical parts of themselvesā¦#anyway thereās a glimpse into my psyche#beet uprooted
