the “yes, and-” approach & why it’s important in rp.

i think most people are at least somewhat aware of the yes, and- approach, but for those who aren’t, here’s a quick rundown of it. the yes, and approach basically started out as a concept for improv comedy (but it is extremely useful for rp as well and we will get to that). the approach is basically that no matter what your fellow actor presents to you, you shall not negate it, but instead roll with it. now why is this important in the rp community? well, i’m sure we’ve all been there at some point, on one end or another. two people are rping together, but the thread doesn’t seem to go anywhere, and might even get dropped due to it. and it might look a little something like this:

muse one reply:  “hey, you don’t look so good. are you okay?” muse two reply: “yeah, i’m fine.” muse one reply: “are you sure?” muse two reply: “yeah. thanks though.” muse one reply: “okay, if you say so. i’m carla, by the way. what’s your name?” muse two reply: “kate.”

you probably get the gist, that muse two does not really engage in anything. they never ask questions, they don’t build on anything, they just reply to what has already been said. this way, all the focus is put on muse two, and none of the focus is put on muse one. this will get very difficult for muse one to work with after a few replies. a better way for muse two to write replies here, might be “yeah, i’m fine. i just got off of work, so i’m just a little tired. thank you, though. how are you?” or when muse one asks if they’re sure “no, actually, i got into a struggle” or something like that. this way, you have your muse build on the story and drive things forward and give muse one something to reply to.

you don’t necessarily have to have your muse say anything either, if they for various reasons don’t usually talk much. have them do something. think something. react to something. show something. anything that the other muse can then respond to.

but the yes, and- approach isn’t only useful in character, but out of character too!

when you want to interact with someone or just get to know them, it’s a good idea to use the yes, and- approach here, too. an example below of what happens if you don’t, which i’ve personally encountered a lot is this:

mun one: hello! wanna plot? mun two: sure, i’d love to! mun one: cool!

here, mun one is asking to plot, but when the other agrees, they don’t come with any ideas themselves, nor asks if the other mun has any ideas. i’ve seen this kind of interaction keep going for quite a bit, with mun two trying to make some effort, and mun one continuing to give one-word responses. this will make mun two feel like all the plotting responsibility is put on them. instead of simply writing short 1-5 word responses like ‘cool’ and ‘sounds great’ and ‘i’m down’, try to engage by following up with some questions, like: 1) what would you be interested in? 2) do you have a wishlist? 3) what verse and/or au should we have our muses interact in? 4) should we do something pre-established or do a first interaction? 5) how do you think your muse would react to xyz?

this way, you’re actively driving the conversation forwards. this is important that both muns do. after all, roleplaying, talking, as well as plotting is a two-way street. you kind of need both to put in some effort to get anywhere.

i jus want someone where we can literally write anything together no matter how many ships & we can send each other plots we wanna do n be comfy writing/hcing smut & there’s no pressure to respond & we hc the shit outta our pairings but we talk ooc too if we ~vibe~ and are comfy w each other n we can have like 20 plots going or a mumu where all our characters exist together in the same verse IDK MAN i jus want that kinda writing partner u know. ok this is an edit but my dms r open if u wanna hmu bc of this post!!

Olá pompurins e players! Nós estamos um pouco sumidos e logo atualizamos nosso diretório, mas vim fazer uma pequena pesquisa sobre PLOTS para 1x1. Nós costumamos escrever e postar individualmente, assim como temos alguns em lista; mas estamos escrevendo alguns com temas semelhantes e surgiu a duvida, vocês preferem plots em lista ou de forma individual? Oi oi, pessoal. Me chamem de Azi (pronomes masculinos). Sou um pouco novo no aplicativo tumblr em si, então estou um pouco perdido. Já entrei em muitas comunidades a partir daqui então definitivamente não sou novo no rp, participo a alguns bons anos.

Criei essa conta para encontrar jogos, especialmente 1x1, minha plataforma de preferência é o discord. Gosto bastante de escrever plots complexos e turnos longos, então se tiver interesse em um jogo extremamente elaborado e bem pensado, eu certamente vou estar disposto a participar. Tenho preferência por temáticas de fantasia, steampunk, e principalmente terror e mistério.

**por enquanto não tenho uma lista de wanted, estou focando em dois chars que já tenho (+ uma cmm que quero entrar) e minha rotina de estudos não está ajudando muito, mas pretendo me abrir para mais jogos logo logo!

Não é o trabalho mais satisfatório do mundo para 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐛 recriar obras que não são suas, mas a vida de artista não tem sido fácil. O caminho das duas se encontra, e enquanto 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐚 é essa mulher malandra e ambiciosa, 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐛 está com dificuldades financeiras e precisa de dinheiro. 

A parceria é perfeita; 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐚 escolhe obras perdidas, e 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐛 as recria. E juntas vendem por milhares de dólares esses “achados” tão preciosos.

Para a galera do 1x1 que me seguiu demorei para agradece, estou agarrada em algumas coisas em off envolvendo edição! Só queria dizer que estou observado(ainda tem uns blogues que preciso olhar com atenção) e se eu para de seguir alguém não é nada pessoal e sim pode ser que algo na guidelines não bata!

Ambas estão juntas desde quando se entendem por gente, mas nem sabem quando os sentimentos uma pela outra começaram. Temos uma relação escondida com sentimentos puros por baixo da coroa, saídas dramáticas do quarto na calada da noite e o desejo de fuga para viverem um amor.

Sinto que minhas empolgação é um sinal para o universo, ele está sempre correndo contra meus objetivos… tudo isso para dizer que fiquei sabendo que as coisas aqui andam meio paradas, mas foi uma iniciativa e tanto da minha parte finalmente me aventura pelo tumblr, mas especificamente no 1×1. Eu sou nova na plataforma e o modo de jogar aqui é muito diferente do que estou acostumada, por isso meu blog está sendo diariamente atualizado! Mas não iria aparece aqui de mão abanado, aqui está minha guidelines incompleta e um navigation list mais incompleto ainda.

Ainda não me sinto segura em posta plots próprios! Então aqui está wanteds que desejo desenvolver no momento:

Vampiros — musa A é uma vampira velha e experiente que acabou de transformar a musa B em vampira também. (Talvez eles estivessem se sentindo sozinhos e desejassem uma companhia? Talvez eles só quisessem se alimentar de B, mas acabaram infectando-os?) Como um recém-nascido, B tem muito a aprender com seu criador, mas também é super malcriado e não é muito feliz com o que aconteceu com eles. A terá paciência para guiar e ensinar B? Será que B algum dia perdoará A e aceitará sua nova condição, abraçando sua nova natureza? Será que eles vão se dar bem e passar a eternidade juntos?

Dê-me um enredo com dois ex-melhores amigos se encontrando novamente após anos separados, talvez com proximidade forçada. Talvez com angústia porque eles não se separaram em termos amigáveis.

Estou me lançado na tag, pois fazia já um tempo que queria jogar no tumblr, ou seja, minha preferência será only tumblr até para me familiariza, porém, tenho discord e se você tiver paciência para me guiar podemos fazer essa ligação entre ambas plataformas ou só joga pelo discord mesmo.

Mesmo que eu já tenha dito na minha guidelines! Ainda não desejo interpreta um papel masculino, então para os plot acima as opções seriam f/f ou f/m, sendo assim em caso de f/m o papel feminino não está em negócio.

1. Vivendo com fantasmas - musa A torna-se companheira de quarto da musa B. Algum tempo depois, a musa A descobre (olhando alguns documentos antigos, ouvindo uma conversa entre vizinhos, visitando o cemitério, etc…) que a musa B está morta há algum tempo. Reviravolta na história - a musa B não tem ideia de que eles são um fantasma! Ou talvez A também seja um fantasma?

1. Living with ghosts — muse A becomes roommates with muse B. Some time later, muse A finds out  ( looking through some old documents, overhearing a conversation between neighbours, visiting the cemetery, etc… )  that muse B has been dead for quite some time. Plot twist — muse B has no idea they are a ghost !  Or maybe A is a ghost as well ?

2. Ouija board — our muses are bored and decide to play with an ouija board for fun ( they could have bought it, found it in the attic/basement, etc… ) . They try to ask silly questions but end up summoning a demon !  Will they try to get rid of it on their own ? Make a deal with it ? Ask someone for help ?  Summon another demon to help them with the first one ?  ( Alternatively, one of our muses can be the demon ! ) 

3. Vampires — muse A is an old, experienced vampire who just turned muse B into a vampire as well. ( Maybe they were feeling lonely and craved a companion ?  Maybe they just wanted to feed on B but ended up infecting them ? )  As a newborn, B has a lot to learn from their maker, but is also super bratty and isn’t too happy about what happened to them. Will A have the patience to guide and teach B ?  Will B ever forgive A and come to terms with their new condition, embracing their new nature ?  Will they get along and spend eternity together ? 

4. Vampires— muse A is a vampire Prince(ss), who rules the kingdom and sits on the throne.  ( Maybe they enjoy it ?  Maybe they fulfill their duties with reluctance ?) Every year a sacrifice must be brought from a nearby village for the vampire royalty, so they won’t feed on its people. This time the villagers chose to kidnap muse B  and take them to the castle. Will muse B be spared ?  Turned into a vampire as well ?  Be kept as a pet ?  Sent back to their family ?  Will this finally end the yearly tradition ? 

5. Werewolves — muse A had a one night stand with a stranger and ends up pregnant, but something isn’t quite right, as they tend to sleepwalk and have a peculiar craving for raw meet, especially when there’s a full moon. Muse B is taking care of them ( they could be a friend, a family member, a house keeper, etc… ) and, secretly being a werewolf, knows exactly what is wrong with muse A. Will they tell A ? Will they assist them in birthing and raising a baby werewolf ?  ( Alternatively, if muse A is male, they could have had a one night stand with a stranger and, nine months later, a baby is left at their door. Muse B is a friend / partner / family member / roommate living with them and, being a werewolf, knows exactly why this baby isn’t like any other they’ve seen before. )
