ways u can feel safer during new year celebrations: agere edition!

headphones - if you have these you could listen to music or if theyre ear protectors just have them on as is

earbuds - most come with noise cancellation but with our without this feature they can be very helpful

earplugs - the only downside is that you cant listen to music but these can be way more concentrated noise reduction

weighted blanket - a good way to literally ground yourself! fireworks can make you feel all over the place but a weighted blanket can help focus on whats around you!

cuddling - if your cg is around and available... cuddle!! if not cuddle a pillow, stuffed animals, bunched up blankets or a heated pad to simulate a person!

medication - if you take any (prescribed) anti anxiety medication now would be the time to take them or have them nearby!

tea - a good alternative if you dont have any helpful prescriptions! i find that any flavor helps regardless of what properties the packaging might say it has

playing - a good distraction! get your buddies out and play with them! or if you have video games that would be great too

watch something - paired with all or some of the above is a fantastic way to pass the time and keep your mind off of the chaos ^^

[ 💧 🧸 ] tips for helping an insecure regressor ! !

sometimes i get super duper worried that my caregiver is uncomfortable with my regression , so i thought it’d be useful to caregivers / sitters / flips to have some tips on helping manage a self—conscious regressor !

— instead of simply reassuring them , treat them like a little / however they would like to be treated ! while reassurance can be helpful , in my opinion , actions are much more comforting

— in worse situations ( breakdowns / tantrums / etc. ) give them activities to do ! coloring pages are very nice for me , but if it’s something you can do in person together , i would recommend text—based tasks like having them tell you about their day , about their interests , anything really ! this might not seem like much , but being given little commands can help us feel very connected to being a regressor !

— similar to the previous one , give them a checklist ( this can work in person or over phone / text ) . this is a more general piece of advice , but it will help take their mind off of the worry and will help them feel accepted & taken care of !

— the most obvious one : talk about it with them . this is an easier thing to do when they are big ( not regressed ) , but having them explain , or try to explain , why they feel insecure can be very very helpful in your methods of reassuring them as well as taking some heaviness off of them ( talking does help ! )

speaking slowly and quietly

wringing hands/playing with sleeves

look at everything

wanting to hold onto your cg/partner/friend in public (fear of separation/abandonment)

kids menu

dress similar to how you did as a kid, or how you wanted to as a kid (graphic tees, fun socks, plaid shorts)

write or color with your non-dominant hand

ask others what to draw so you have directions to follow

have someone else brush your hair if possible

sweet treat/childhood comfort or staple meal
