Such a banger of a reality check for Osamu in this chapter. Especially early on hitting him (and by extension, the audience) with this right as he's about ready to have a standard shounen protagonist hero moment. And instead Yuma tells him that he's not that guy. Then he goes to try and brute force his way through anyways, and it turns out that he is, in fact, not that guy. Immediately setting the expectations of how power works in this story, and that it intends to take itself seriously. This is imo one of the single most important scenes in all of early World Trigger.

The thing in World Trigger that requires the most of my suspension of disbelief isn't the sci fi tech and aliens from another dimension or the army of battleteens. It's the existence of an upper management that, not only recognizes and acknowledges the importance of reliable workers that maintain the function and stability of an organization, but also sees them as deserving their due credit.
