Begging white Jewish people to actually get involved with indigenous liberation movements so y’all know what “indigenous” means today.
(SOME Jews are certainly indigenous to the area but not a large number - though admittedly I don’t know how large or if such a thing could easily be quantified.)
Expecting to see a lot of "Jews aren't from Palestine! They're European colonisers! Anyway, happy [festival memorialising the rededication of the Jewish Temple of Jerusalem by the Jews who lived there circa 800 years prior to the Muslim Arab conquest of the region]" next month.

Some of these feel like they’re about one guy. Like they were like “we gotta get Omar under control, he’s a loose cannon.”
I have a Daily Mitzvot app that tells me one new mitzvah every day at 9 a.m. and some of these are wild as hell to read first thing in the morning

I just want to remind everyone on planet earth that the “40 beheaded babies” and “gangs of r*pists” are still unconfirmed rumors.
The “40 beheaded babies” rumor was from a “journalist” that said she overheard people talking about it. The “gangs of r*pists” seems to be an internet rumor originating from speculation surrounding those videos of the women in the truck which, while certainly violent, is not in itself a confirmation of sexual violence let alone mass r*pe.
Even if these things did happen, I think we can all agree that it costs us nothing to take “violent black/brown people” rumors with a grain of salt until we get credible verification since believing them can actually result in more violence.
If you believed those things uncritically and acted upon the emotions that belief elicited, please take a moment to ask yourself some questions:
1. Would I have uncritically accepted this information if I had heard that it was Israelis or Russians committing these acts?
2. Have I heard similar rumors surrounding other events? What are some commonalities between the current conflicts and those past events?
3. Why did I not Google these things before reacting when in the past I have done it easily?
4. How did sharing these rumors make me feel? Would I have gotten the same emotions from sharing verified facts?
5. Who benefits when I accept and spread rumors of racialized violence? Am I a benefactor?
6. If this post makes me feel defensive, do I really disagree with the statement that we should be careful when spreading rumors of violence being committed by non-white people, or do I just feel like I’m being attacked?
6b. If I do feel like I’m being attacked, why would a post pointing out racist behavior make me feel that way?
Before you come into my comments to call me slurs, let it be known that I think every single person is a good person. Yes, even you. Yes, even that guy. Believing that people are either good or bad is Xtian nonsense. You either honor your goodness, or you don’t. Let’s do better at honoring our goodness next time, OK?

Genocide is being committed while the world cheers.
Also IDK the exact timeline here but yesterday (the 11th) Al Jazeera reported that Israel was bombing the road from Gaza to Egypt explicitly so they could not escape so like. I’m not sure how effective that plan would be.

Israel now essentially has casus belli to complete the genocide they started 100 years ago in the eyes of the western world.
I just don’t understand what Hamas’s angle was. Surely they knew this is what their attack would provoke. The Israeli state is who ultimately benefits from this conflict so I just. I don’t get the angle.
I’m 100% towards decolonization and the liberation of Palestine. I just don’t understand how this weekend’s attack achieves that.
Can anyone who knows more than me about the inner workings of Hamas. Were they just focused on the short-term or were they hoping to ignite some kind of bigger geopolitical conflict?
Israel is going to completely block the supply of food, water, electricity and fuel to Gaza as it prepares for the ground invasion and likely occupation of the area. This is going to be a massive humanitarian catastrophe similar to the siege of Mariupol last year except even worse because Mariupol was a wealthy city that had resources and international support that Gaza and Palestine in general don't have. Several countries have in fact announced they're going to stop giving development and humanitarian aid to Palestine when most Palestinians are directly dependant on it. Tens of thousands of people may die and it's just going to be allowed to happen with widespread apathy or active encouragement

Also, I strongly suggest that everyone read The Palestine - Israel conflict: A Basic Introduction by Gregory Harms.
He wrote it specifically for people who know very little about the Middle East. It starts with pre-Biblical times and goes through to today. It’s very readable and not too dry.
The publisher often has huge ebook sales, too. It’s only $13 on Amazon for the paperback right now.
We - not just Jewish and Jewish-adjacent people - are all fed an outrageous amount of propaganda regarding the nature of this conflict. It’s often framed as an ancient religious conflict that has been going on for centuries when this conflict is in fact younger than my Dad and not related to religion at all. I’m still learning things that make my head spin.
Taking your education into your own hands in the first step towards dismantling that disinformation machine.

I’m in a really bad marriage and I’m having a rough night. Weekends are hard because he’s home a lot. I’m considering not going to Yom Kippur services tomorrow.
Teshuva feels impossible because all I can think about is white knuckling onto my will to live. I literally can’t even think about anything actually relating to Yom Kippur so it feels pointless to go and I’m slightly afraid I might cry a lot.
But then if I don’t go I’ll have to explain why to my Rabbi and I’m afraid that if I let onto how depressed I am some days it’ll set the clock back for my conversion.

Are you me? I also do not own anything white or even light-colored. It’s super bright and busy or goth. And people at my shul tend to adhere to things like that. We’re also to bring our tallit and shofar - two things I obviously don’t own yet.
I totally understand that I’m the only person that will care that I’m the odd one out but that doesn’t make it easier.
I just hope they hand out programs tomorrow so I at least have an idea of what is going down 🫤
Being an early Judaism Conversion student, trying to find light-colored, modest wear for Yom Kippur in my wardrobe, but I don't have much plain white/light-colored wear, especially that is formal. All I really have is grey, baggy sweatpants, a grey sweater but it's tighter fitting and borderline off-shoulder, and a baggy white shirt but it has a grey outline of a cat and the words "Not Today" on it. Everything formal I own is dark or flashy, and most of my white/lights are not fully modest (damn long legs and long arms)
I don't currently have a synagogue and don't live in a Jewish community so there's no dress codes I technically have to abide by, this wear is just for me to practice the Holy High day closer, but I'm definitely going to have to go out at some point so I can find something more appropriate for the future years. Don't have time for that currently
