Amy by Mary Hooper
This book is all about a girl who met a guy whom she had just met online. But after meeting this online guy that she assumed to be her so called "boyfriend", amy was just an ordinary girl who's just happily living her teenage life. Amy seemed to put the blame on her friends Bethany and Lou on the incident that happened to her. But in my personal opinion, Amy is the only one who should be blamed on what that just happened to her.
Amy, all alone decided to sign up for a dating service website after having a big fight with her only friends. After signing up online, she met this boy whose screenname is Zed. Days had passed Amy and the "Zed" guy were talking every night. Then Amy had fallen in love with the guy already.
This is one of the nice books i have read because it suits with my field of interest. Amy thought that the guy is the answer to her prayers and can't wait to meet/see him, but is he really who he says he is? Is everything that he says true or not? Mary Hooper succeeded quite well. Though it wasn't an outstanding book, she made her readers realize the horror of online chatting with strangers and the same scenario has been happening up until now.
One of the most memorable lines that I have read in this book was when her mother said that "If you make a new friend, don't forget the old. The new friend is silver and the old one is gold." I truly belive that those are true. All our friends are blessings that God has sent to us. We should treat them as our family and payback all the love that they are giving us unconditionally.
Moral of the story: Don't give strangers your full trust immediately especially when you just met it online. Don't trust strangers immediately knowing that there is something strange/wrong on how it communicate to you. "Stranger danger" has been a term of parents used to warn their children. We should all follow what the elders says that we should not talk to strangers because we don't know what these stranger might do/bring into our lives, so might as well avoid these strangers already.
