Virtue is found only in a spotless mind and not in pomp and show- Translation from Sangam translations by Vaidehi.
People often enough tend to show off their 'goodness', 'generosity', 'charity' and many such positive and good virtues, as if to say, "hey, look at me, I am so and so, and I do this and this." Such showboating takes away the meaning of what virtue really is.
Virtue arises from within, and is one's own power and strength when everything else goes against them. When one has a mind that is soaked in virtue alone, they will not showboat who they are; their humility and actions will speak much louder than anything else.
It is brilliant, that Thiruvalluvar thought to write such poignant meanings in couplet verses.

M: “No powers can equal Self-realization.
People are not content with their idea of jnana and want siddhis as well. They only look at the body. They are likely to neglect the supreme happiness of jnana and get side-tracked and lost on the way instead of following the royal path. Jnana is everything, and a jnani will not waste any thought on the occult powers."
The Maharshi is unvarying in his attitude towards psychic visions. Even when his disciples report that his own picture has appeared to them, transfigured in brilliant light, he counsels them to put aside all form and to remember that what is thus seen is perish¬able; what has an origin must have an end; it is the intuitive per¬ception of the Self that must be seized.
M: "The seer, the seen and the seeing was all one, all within yourself. Nobody else saw it. It was your own fancy, and yet it is also true that YOU really did see it."

द्वाविमौ पुरुषौ लोके क्षरश्चाक्षर एव च । क्षरः सर्वाणि भूतानि कूटस्थोऽक्षर उच्यते॥ BG 15: 16 There are two kinds of beings in creation, the kṣhar (perishable) and the akṣhar (imperishable). The perishable are all beings in the material realm. The imperishable are the the liberated beings. There are two classes of men. The Vedas give evidence of this. The living entities, who are struggling in this world with the mind and five senses, have their material bodies which are changing as long as the living entities are conditioned. One's body changes due to contact with matter; matter is changing, so the living entity appears to be changing. But in the spiritual world the body is not made of matter; therefore there is no change. In the material world the living entity undergoes six changes-birth, growth, duration, reproduction, then dwindling and vanishing. These are the changes of the material body. But in the spiritual world the body does not change; there is no old age, there is no birth, there is no death. There all exists in oneness.

गामाविश्य च भूतानि धारयाम्यहमोजसा | पुष्णामि चौषधी: सर्वा: सोमो भूत्वा रसात्मक: || 13|| In this verse, Krsna says that it is His energy which has brought about the appropriate physical conditions for life to exist on planet earth. Here, gām means earth, and ojasā is energy. Like all other celestial bodies, the earth is also a big mass of matter. But God has made it habitable, so that, it can sustain life. Nobel laureate and famous American scientist, George Wald has written in his book, A Universe that Breeds Life: “If anyone of the considerable number of the physical properties of our universe were other than they are, then life, that now appears to be so prevalent, would be impossible, here or anywhere. All the rules of nature including Gravity is also acting by the will of Krsna. So it is He who has made arrangement of force of gravity. Ever wondered why the ocean water is so salty? God could have made the oceans full of freshwater, but it would have become a breeding ground for diseases. Due to the high salt content of the ocean water, many disease-causing microorganisms cannot survive in it, thereby protecting life. His energy is sustaining each planet, just like a handful of dust. If someone holds a handful of dust, there is no possibility of the dust’s falling, but if one throws it in the air it will fall down. Similarly, these planets, which are floating in the air, are actually held in the fist of the universal form of the Supreme Lord. By His strength and energy, all moving and nonmoving things stay in their place. The sun shines and the planets steadily move. Were it not for Him, all the planets would scatter, like dust in air, and perish. E.g. by the presence of soul the body grows and moves.

एतां दृष्टिमवष्टभ्य नष्टात्मानोऽल्पबुद्धय: । प्रभवन्त्युग्रकर्माण: क्षयाय जगतोऽहिता: ॥ ९ ॥ The evil minded reject the eternality of the soul and the possibility of karmic reactions, so that they may engage in self-serving and even cruel deeds without any qualms. If they happen to possess power over other humans, they impose their misleading materialistic views upon them as well. They do not hesitate to aggressively pursue their self-centered goals, even if it results in grief to others and destruction to the world. The materialists, who have no concept of God, think that they are advancing. These are unintelligent humans. They try to enjoy this material world to the utmost limit and therefore always engage in inventing something for sense gratification. Such materialistic inventions are considered to be advancement of human civilization, but the result is that people grow more and more violent and more and more cruel, cruel to animals and cruel to other human beings. Indirectly, this verse anticipates the invention of nuclear weapons, of which the whole world is today very proud. At any moment war may take place, and these atomic weapons may create havoc. Such things are created solely for the destruction of the world, and this is indicated here. Due to godlessness, such weapons are invented in human society; they are not meant for the peace and prosperity of the world.
