aftershow glow [12/2/17]

Drove all the way down to Tampa today to see the 2nd day of 97x’s “Next Big Thing” concert tomorrow. Gonna see Vinyl Theatre, MisterWives, Walk The Moon, and Paramore (!!!) among others. So excited. The drive felt kind of weird because it gets dark at like 6pm now so I felt like I was driving through Florida in the middle of the night even though I’d only been awake for like... 7 hours RIP but that’s okay time isn’t real haha...

We played Smith’s last night and it was so much fun. Everyone had friends out, I peer-pressured my friends into letting me put glitter on their faces, Austin came out and did some live video for us (so stay tuned for that!!), I gave out some of our cute stickers that we just got... Oh, and someone we’d never met from another local band just happened to be hanging out I guess, and he told us after our set that he really liked our set but also that he really loved our name?? Which honestly felt great to hear because we spent so long trying to figure out the new name so we could put it all over our accounts and cards and stickers etc and I think we were still only somewhat-sold on it when we chose it and now we’re still sort of growing into it.

So now that we’ve done the show and practicing for it + pushing it on social media aren’t our main focuses anymore I think we’re going to finish up the recordings for our next “singles”/demos! I can’t say what they are yet (it’s a surprise!) but Krish goes home for the holidays in a couple of weeks and then I have graduation and then we’ll all be on Christmas visits so I think we’re going to try to finish the recording in the next couple of weeks so Chris can mix and master everything before the new year. So yeah, look out for that in January! I’m really, reeeeally excited to have those out, especially since once we have more than one song we’ll probably put the effort into putting our stuff on Spotify and Google Play and all that jazz which is going to be so rad.

What else... we’ve been writing a lot of new songs lately, without giving too much away Chris has an awesome one started (I say started, it’s almost done but I’m supposed to be seeing if I can help finish the lyrics but I have not had aaaany time RIP), Alex came over and helped me finish one that I’ve had the lyrics and melody for in my head for literally 8 months now so it feels really good to have that done. We’ll probably work on both of those as a band once we all get back to work in January, plus the other handful that we have started on but not finished writing.

Aaaanyway, I think I’m about done for today, I should probably go to bed soon so I can get up and dance my legs off tomorrow! How was this first post? Did I do okay? I kind of just wanted a tumblr and a place to sort of talk about the band in a longer, more rambly form than I can on twitter and facebook, if that makes sense? I kind of want to make it a regular thing, maybe get the guys to do some too if they feel like it.

ALSO I think I might quote songs in all of the posts I do like I did at the beginning on this one. I love Future by Paramore so much. It’s one of the most comforting songs I’ve ever heard. I like to listen to it when I’m feeling doubtful about the future ever being the way I want it to be, or when I’m feeling really depressed about where I am in the present. Listened to it a few times on the way down, especially once it was dark and it felt like I had suddenly accelerated into past-midnight hours and things got a little existential in the car, haha.
