oh ho ho, in the original source material, the bar confrontation scene was a flashback before sangwoo and jaeyoung knew who each other were, and jaeyoung stepped in to diffuse the conflict for a random hoobae that didn't seem to have social manners. and as jaeyoung tries to calm the sunbae down, sangwoo just up and leaves on his own by himself.

but in the drama adaptation, jaeyoung is keenly aware of who sangwoo is, and he steps in because it's sangwoo, not just some random clueless hoobae. and he doesn't so much as diffuse the situation as he distracts via escalation until he grabs sangwoo's hand and they escape together.

i love this because it means that jaeyoung has made the active choice to help sangwoo, despite all his previous efforts to hinder and annoy him instead. it would have ostensibly been better for jaeyoung's stated goal of making things difficult for sangwoo to ignore the conflict happening and let sangwoo tank on his own. but jaeyoung couldn't help but step in and save him from another asshole. sangwoo has occupied a part of his mind that he can't ignore, and now only jaeyoung is allowed to be annoying to sangwoo, not anybody else (lol). through his own fixation, jaeyoung played himself so now he's on sangwoo's side instead of against him.
