Kyle only thought of fair fights as a way to end up dead. Growing in an environment like what he was used to you had to take the shot when you could get it. He was honestly only startled. He didn’t realize someone else was going to be here. At least no one like her. She towered over him. He’d seen people bigger than him sure. Taller and with more too them. But having to look up the way he was, felt a little new.
He had reacted purely on instinct, seeing her as close as she was. Kyle didn’t move or blink at the clear warning in her tone. A threat? Probably. Judging by her reaction. The way she was looking at him? Of course she was going to be considered a threat. She didn’t even really react to a weapon being pointed at her. He didn’t lower his weapon when he was informed that she didn’t mean him any harm. Only moving his finger off the trigger. He was clearly still a little on edge. He might be considered a little jumpy.
“What are you doing here?” He still kept a bit of distance between them in case that changed.

Hicks hadn’t thought he would have received the joke when he asked his question. But he didn’t think he would have really gotten any kind of answer aside from what the hell do you want. He still kind of got that question. Just a bit nicer than that. Hicks leaned back, they really seemed to be having a good time. He couldn’t help the grin on his face.
Couldn’t keep that up for ever apparently. They had to go back to business sooner or later. Guess sooner for the moment. “Yeah. I can see that.” He was still grinning though. At least they could be allowed to have a little fun before having to get back to whatever this is.
Right. OF course why was he here. That was going to be a question. “Back to business of course. I’m here because I need a little bit of help.” Didn’t have many other options anymore and he was sure this was a long shot. But couldn’t hurt to try.

Hicks was starting to thank which family member had decided to keep this thing. Came in handy when things got hairy. Like when his regular weapon ran out of ammo and there were still more of those things and people he didn’t know hanging around. Watching as he was setting this whole place to blow. Which really, Hicks would like to be far enough away from this place that it wouldn’t affect them. But as long as they took those things with them Hicks didn’t think he would be too upset. Ten and a half minutes. Should be enough time to get out of here. If they didn’t run into any problems. Which of course meant they were going to run into something that’ll slow them down. Sounds like he wasn’t the only one planning on getting out of here alive. Thank God for that one. “It’s pretty close. Had been hoping this was going to be a quick job. Otherwise I would have been better prepared.” He was already moving towards the door. He had been pointing his gun at the other man. But at least now it looked like they had the same goal. If there was still an issue, they could handle it when they were away from these bastard things and on the shuttle away from the explosion. “Let’s just hope we lost the last one.”
Hicks gave a curt nod in response to him asking his rank. No concern with that being known. After all it wasn’t like it was a hidden fact. It was clear on his uniform. The shotgun wasn’t standard issue for the marines, but it did a well enough job in a pinch. The other man did not want him pulling the trigger this close to him. Especially, by the look of him when he wasn’t wearing armor. Frowning at the request to lower his weapon, he bit back a sigh. “Everything rigged to explode?” He didn’t holster his weapon, but he pulled it back from him. He wouldn’t put it away, if he couldn’t fire it could at least use it to hit him. The thing had a couple of uses to avoid setting off any mushroom clouds.

Hicks had come over to see Ripely because really he needed the chance to relax. He was tired. So of course the one place he went to just to shoot the shit was Ripely. How this had turned into making hot chocolate he wasn’t sure. Didn’t matter. It gave him something else to focus on. “Milk if I have it on hand is usually the go to.” He just knew that water worked when it wasn’t. Peppermint wasn’t something he had thought about.
Grinning has he took a sip himself. “Actin like you haven’t touched the stuff in a decade.” There was a teasing tone to his voice. “What they got ya on?”

@paramounticebound asked: [ hospital ] sender wakes up in a hospital bed and finds receiver sitting by their bedside (( for hicks! ))

He almost couldn’t believe they were both in one piece. A little beat to hell but nothing that they wouldn’t recover from. Well that’s what Hicks kept telling himself. Apparently, it depended Khan waking up to know for sure. From what he could tell the man was too damn stubborn to let himself go out like this. So he was sure he was going to wake up sooner or later. Hicks’s treatment didn’t keep him out of here for long. He had a few nurses and doctors trying to tell him to go back to his own room. He simply refused. He wanted to be here if something changed. He owed the man that much.
Hicks had learned to catch sleep wherever and whenever he could. So slumped in the chair next to the bed legs stretched out in front of him and arms crossed over his chest wasn’t even in the top twenty strangest places he’s slept. He hated being in places like this. Hospitals were not his favorite place. But he knew that sometimes it was necessary. Like now. Waiting for the man to wait up.
Something woke him up. He didn’t know if it was movement or something with the machines. Or it could have been a dream. He tended to have some pretty rough nightmares. Didn’t matter. Because something finally changed. Rubbing the sleep out of his eyes has he moved forward some ignoring any protest from stiff muscles or annoyed injuries. “Mornin.” He greeted with a smirk. “Finally decided you were done sleeping?”

gunsmoke taken from the tv show.
somehow. the most left-handed word in the world.
on a given day, any person can be a bad person. with enough anger inside of them, they can be a killer.
you survive that, you can survive anything.
it’s all right with me if it’s all right with you.
look, i’ll tell you what. i’ll turn you loose, and then we can talk.
lost a lot of blood, but you’re gonna heal pretty fast.
now, you just let me worry about things.
it’s been a backbreaking job. touch and go, all the way.
you should put this back on. you poor baby.
shoulder one, that one can be dug out. the other one went clear through. it’s bad.
why, it’s harmless. most all children with imagination do it.
i’m kind of a slow thinker. you didn’t give me time to make up my mind.
the doctor said not to let you move.
i do what’s right. been my way of living. it’s the right and wrong of it.
you are a never-ending source of amazement to me.
i’m plumb wore out, always traveling around.
it’s all right for bluffing. bluffing the undertaker maybe.
i told you when i shook on something, i’d stand by it. didn’t i?
well, you’re not personally responsible.
only a coyote would call that man a hero.
i don’t believe a word you’ve said.
you rest, make yourself at home.
i don’t know, it must’ve been the heat’s got to you. you’re acting crazy with it.
kind of makes you wonder what’s fair, doesn’t it?
i’ve been called a lot of things, but that’s a new one.
they always give me a feeling right in here. it’s like being sick.
all i can say, i’m sorry for making you unhappy.

@paramounticebound asked: ❛ it was not supposed to end like this. ❜ (( for hicks! ))

Hicks breathing heavily as he leaned back against the wall while quickly reloading his gun. Trying to reload his gun. He was not in good shape. He didn’t think that Khan was either. Well he figured he’d end up dying in the middle of nowhere. They had been in situations like this before. Only so many times someone could test fate, right? Maybe this was the last one. Shit, maybe he should light up one last cigarette. That was how people did that right?
Huffing out a near silent laugh as he looked towards the other man stuck with him. Least he seemed pretty set on fighting instead of freaking out. Hicks figured that right now his chances were better than zero. If one of them panicked and fucked up they were both probably dead. Right now injured sure. But he was sure if he could get out of here, he could get this treated. Didn’t think it was life threatening yet. Could still be a problem.
“How was it supposed to end then?” Hicks had different expectations. Because this was about what he expected with his line of work. Khan didn’t seem to think this was how this was going to go. “If you have a plan out of this, I’m all ears.” He finally managed to get his gun loaded. “Fucking finally.” Hicks muttered to himself.

@paramounticebound asked: "I have you!" (( for hicks! ))

Well Fuck. Was the only thing Hicks had time to think before everything had gone to hell. He thought this was going to be a lot of an easier than what it was. He should have learned by now not to trust the people in charge of intel. One of the things that apparently never changed. They always missed a pretty big detail. Like how many they were in a situation. Things had been alright until they had gotten here. They had severely underestimated what they were up against. A feeling that was starting to feel way too common.
He thought for sure he was dead; Hicks’s pulse rifle had been knocked away from him. He was cursing himself every way he could think of. That was such a fucking rookie move on his part. He couldn’t remember the last time he had lost his weapon. He had been taken by surprise in his defense but didn’t make this any less of an issue.
It almost didn’t seem real. Someone pulling him out of the way of an attack. This fucker seemed to be more interested in something a little more personal. If he was unarmed made him a decent target. Someone else noticed and he felt someone grabbing him by the back of his shirt pulling him out of the way of what would have been probably a death shot. He stumbled a few steps as he was pulled behind a familiar figure.
“At least it looks like someone does. Pretty sure I nearly got myself killed.” He sounded more frustrated than anything.

@paramounticebound asked: ❛ you cannot save everyone. ❜ (( for hicks! ))

Hicks let out a frustrated growl as he leaned back against the wall. His gun off to the side easily accessible. This place wasn’t safe. Not by a long shot. He had just been hoping they had arrived in time to help someone. Anyone. The moment they found this room Hicks knew that had gone out the window. Though they still might find someone. The thought didn’t help his mood.
He knew sometimes this happened. That they just ended up being a little too late. Didn’t make him feel any better. Looking towards Khan when he spoke. He was a little surprised the man was apparently trying to, at least it seemed that way anyway, comfort him. Though it could just be a nicer way to tell him to stop dwelling and get his ass in gear.
Nodding he pushed himself away from the wall. “Right. Lets just get the hell out of here.” He turned back towards the exit. This part at least seemed clear. At least of anything living. He was honestly getting a little tired of that.

He understood her excitement, he really did. They had been out here for God only knew how long. She probably had a better understanding of time than he did right now. But it felt like ages. So having someone finally trying to get in touch with them. Someone that looked like they wanted to help of course made it hard for someone to keep calm. Hicks had been trained to ignore that part of his mind. Push it back until he knew they were safe. This was some of what he had to deal with in case his CO was out of commission, and he needed to talk to someone for support or rescue reasons. Like now, and as much as he hated it he didn’t have much choice. Luckily, she didn’t argue. Let him take over. She could probably force them to do it with her words alone, but they needed help. Couldn’t have them uneasy about them from the start.
Feeling himself relax when he heard that they would be sending someone over. They really made it. There was a part of him that had been worried. Maybe they could fix Bishop too while they were at it. He hoped so. He’d done a lot for them while they were on Hadley’s.
Leaning against the terminal he smirked when she started speaking. “First voices we’ve heard aside from our own in a while.” He started knowing that when drifting like this, Bishiop could have kept them on course but at the moment he couldn’t do anything.
Waving away an apology before shrugging. “We gotta learn that. For dire situations.” He left out the like times like these because that was a given. “Should we wake up Newt?” Bishop they could wake up once he was fixed. New however, would probably like to learn they were getting out of here and maybe going home. Well finding home anyway. Newt’s home had been destroyed. She’d have to start on something new. Least maybe they could give a chance at something close to normal.

He could see that for a second, she didn’t believe what she was hearing. He wasn’t sure he blamed her it didn’t seem like it could be real. Dwayne was wondering how long they would be out here. Trying to keep their live support system going. The Sulaco wasn’t in bad shape but with Bishop in the condition he was in they didn’t have their synthetic to keep up with the maintenance. So it fell on them. He didn’t know how long they could keep doing that. He knew she had been out there for a while before their job. But he didn’t know if this ship could keep the alive for that long. Didn’t want to find out either.
Accepting her help getting to his feet, she could get him medical attention once they were on the new ship. Grinning to himself as he followed her towards the control room. That was someone, he wasn’t sure about the name of the ship. Didn’t think he had heard it before. Didn’t matter this was their way out. Well if Ellen in her excitement to talk to them didn’t scare them off.
Walking towards the woman he put a hand on her shoulder before gently moving to take the radio. It wasn’t often that he had to be the one to talk on the radio let alone do anything with a distress call. Sure he’d been in his fair share of tight spots but that usually fell on Apon or Hudson since he was the comm tech. But that didn’t mean that he didn’t know what he needed to say.
“Stellar, this is corporal Dwayne Hicks on the USS Sulaco. We’re a marine transport.” He wondered if he should have said that they used to be a marine transport. He was the only marine left. He knew they were going to need that information if they wanted a peaceful pickup. Ripley was excited because of how long they had been drifting but there was a certain protocol that a lot of vessels were not likely to ignore.
“We are in need of some help. Ripley was right. We have a badly damaged synthetic, an injured marine, and two civilians. One being a young child. Both should get a check up as well.” He was excited to, but he was also in no condition for a fight and didn’t want them to leave them because they lost their heads. Hicks over the years in different fights has learned to keep a reign on his emotions. It was how he made it back to the ship from Hadely’s even if he had made the mistake of shooting that alien so close to himself. It was how he had gotten his injuries.

There was a little voice in the back of his head telling him that maybe he shouldn’t touch what it was she was offering. She didn’t seem that sure what it was meaning he really didn’t know what she was handing him. Looking at what was in her hand before shifting his attention to her. “What is it?” What was she trying to force into him? Asking seemed like the safer option. Least get an idea of what he might end up putting himself through. Though the idea of not taking it and just dealing with his injuries sounded more appealing all of a sudden.

Hi hello! Do you have your RP rules written down somewhere? Infos about your muses? Also if you are an adult etc? I tried finding a post of some sort but Tumblr is making it incredibly hard. Thank you! <3
Hello hello! Thanks for the question, cause honestly I would have never remembered otherwise. I don’t have either and I should have put those up ages ago. But due to some frustration I had with my last laptop I totally got sidetracked. Should try to have something up: rules are pretty simple. For me it’s just the basic roleplay common curtesy. As for my age I am an adult. Well over the age of 18. I’m 32 years old. Sorry about the trouble or confusion!

And this was why Kyle felt uneasy about taking anything from AKI. He was starting to wonder if he got lucky with the last time, she gave him anything. “I thought you knew the difference.” Because there was no way he was going to. He couldn’t remember meeting a person that made him this nervous. Should always be careful with people, but he thought he’d been around worse. Kyle was starting to miss his old life which felt a little weird.

@withpoison from X

Kyle didn’t really think before acting. It just seemed to be a reflex to the surge of anger. He knew she enjoyed working with poison, but he hadn’t been prepared to see it in action. It just seemed to happen. He only ever seemed to feel even slightly at ease when he had a weapon on him. He hadn’t gotten another gun yet, so the blade was going to have to do the trick for the time being. Seemed that he would have a use for it.
She wasn’t wrong, it did have him making some rash choices. Didn’t think out what she was going to do or what he planned to do for that matter. The blade was nearly touching her neck and she seemed more annoyed than concerned. Taking a step back when she managed to free herself, blade still in in hand tense and ready to defend himself if she felt the urge to attack him. Wouldn’t be surprised if she did.
At least she didn’t seem to be going in for a kill. He didn’t need to look back at her latest victim to know how that had been for him. “Add that to the list of things that’ll get me a painful death,” The anger and tension still hadn’t drained out of him. But he had at least moved to give her a little more room to move away from the wall and give himself space if he needed to move quickly.

Kyle tilted his head at the answer. She was the one that brought up the idea that it was some orders from someone above her. He understood the idea of orders, but that made him curious about what the difference here was. Master wasn’t a term he used when talking about receiving orders. It was keeping him from having another bad situation so he would take it for the moment. Still she didn’t seem like the person to lower ones guard around. Shifting so that he was leaning more against the wall for a bit of support. She could already tell he was hurt so he didn’t bother trying to hide it.
Staring at the pouch she had in front of him with a frown and a confused expression. Was this medicine? She mentioned poison a little bit ago so there was always the concern that it wasn’t what she said it was. Reaching out cautiously to grab the offered pouch. Taking his hand back quickly when she pulled it back a surprised look.
“You don’t make a lot of sense.” He commented not sure what it was she was actually looking for out of him. Doubt it was anything like that. Magic word? It took him a second to understand what she was telling him to say. She had been the one that was offering that. “What even is in there?” Because honestly, he probably should have asked before he using it.

"I can't tell you! That'd be giving everything away!" A.K.I. teases, wagging a finger as she bends over him, inquisitive. "Silly! Fortunately, you're spared. I have some herbal medicines if it'll help your pain, though. I see you’re a bit roughed up, hmm?” He seemed to be all alone, which did give her the perfect time to strike, but without an order or being attacked first, she wouldn’t touch him in a deadly manner (as much as she wanted to).
She pulls out a pouch of her medicine and dangles it out in front of his face. The choice was his, after all, but she couldn’t help but make the offer even more tantalizing. Suddenly, however, the poisoner pulls it back to her chest to safety. She didn’t want him grabbing onto it and taking all of it! It wasn’t some miracle cure, but it surely would help, in her opinion. A.K.I. just hated sharing without people being polite about it.
“If you want it, you know what you have to say. What’s the magic word?” The woman giggles, watching him intently for his reaction. If she got her way, he’d do what she asked. If not…she’d just have to toy with him some more!

Hicks had heard rumors about someone keeping one of those things here. Running tests. He knew that they wanted to get a hold of one, had been willing to kill or let people die. He would have to ask later how they managed to get the damn thing here. He was sure he wouldn’t like the answer, but he still felt the need to ask.
He wasn’t sure what had told him something might have been in the fucking factory but apparently, he wasn’t wrong. Hicks got a feeling that something was moving near him. Tensing when he got the feeling that someone was getting close. The marine spun around gun already up the moment he was facing whatever was there. Aw fuck of course he had to be right.
This one had some differences to the ones he had seen. Hicks didn’t know what had been done to it, but judging by the fact that there was a number basically branded into it. Something had been running tests of this thing. So the fact that someone had gotten this fucking thing here and had been doing something. Hicks took a step back. He was aware that this thing could tear him apart if it wanted to. Hicks would open fire if this thing started coming at him. He’d learned his lesson when he shot one of these things apart. The acid blood was nothing to joke about.
“What the fuck are you doing in here?” He asked knowing he wouldn’t get an answer, least not one he would understand anyway. Hicks was kept most of his attention on the alien in front of him, the tail looked like it was ready to strike, but he was looking for a way out. If he wanted to kill this bastard thing he was going to need to be better prepared. Hicks had seen what a normal one could do. Hicks didn’t know if he was armed or not if he was going to be able to take one on without some help. Hell, he didn’t know what had been changed with this one he was just sure it was bad.

Kyle cursed under his breath as he worked and hearing the response. He knew he didn’t have any room to talk. He had a bad habit of putting the job over his own wellbeing. Didn’t stop the surge of annoyance that flashed through him. He was well aware of the importance of the mission but wouldn’t be able to get it down if he had to drag the bigger man around. So if they were going to finish this he was going to need to know if there was an injury that would become a problem. Well, he’d rather make sure the injury was treated either way. Kyle was used to having someone die on a job didn’t mean he liked it or even that he didn’t want to try and stop it. Just didn’t have the time to stop and think about it.
Walk it off. He couldn’t stop the tsk that came out of him. Should test that theory out of annoyance. Deal with it later. Get this fucking mission done. He needed a break maybe. He always felt so damn tired. Maybe that was why he was so annoyed or irritable. Wasn’t like there was much of a chance of that any time soon. Not when they kept having different jobs thrown his way and being sent on said missions with people who could be just as stubborn as he was. There was a part of him that was convinced this was someone getting back at him for his shit.
Sighing he shrugged. “Think that’s the best I can do right now anyway. Don’t make it so I have to drag your ass somewhere. I’ll leave you here until I can get someone else.” It was an empty threat. But one that he’d gotten before. Hadn’t been left yet or needed more than a little help walking.
#savior-of-humanity#[No worries about the length man whatever works for you]#[Hope this is alright!~]
