literally terrified by all this bullshit from @staff about attracting new users and making the site "intuitive"

it would be so ironic if they killed off the last of the current userbase in an effort to finally make this website profitable

like, do you think it's the "average users" who "only look at 25 posts a day" who are spending hours making gifsets of their favorite tv shows? do you think they're the ones talking in the tags and engaging joyfully/passionately/comedically with the website as it exists today?

we are begging staff to make actual accessibility/functionality improvements that would benefit all tumblr users instead of completely overhauling how the site works... because the latter decision pushes the site towards becoming another mindless content mill like other social media sites I won't name here, and that would absolutely destroy tumblr's pre-existing very unique and weird culture

which would genuinely be heartbreaking for those of us who consider this our home on the internet (and have for many years)

If during the strike, it's announced about AI generated shows. We are not watching them. Not even out of curiosity. Let them fail every AI generated show they try make.

when the media uses phrases like “the union is demanding higher pay” they want you to think hey wait i wish i got paid better you’re telling me these whiny writers are refusing to work? i’m way worse off than them and i still go in to work every day!

they want you to stop there and stew in your resentment instead of following the logic forward to hey maybe if i had a union i would have better pay!

and they say stuff like “working conditions” for the same reason because they know it conjures the image of a sweatshop or something and you’re like well that’s absurd writers work in offices how bad could it be they don’t have “working conditions”
