#EndSARS: UK parliament to debate petition against Nigeria Monday The United Kingdom Parliament has said a petition seeking sanctions against the Nigerian Government and Police Force over alleged human rights violations during the #EndSARS protests would be debated on Monday (tomorrow). The UK parliament made this known on its website, saying that the debate would be led by Theresa Villiers at the Westminster Hall between 6:00 pm and 7:30 pm. In the debate pack titled, ‘E-petition 554150, relating to Nigeria and the sanctions regime’, the parliament referenced the shootings of #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki toll gate on October 20, 2020, as one of its press articles. It said, “Parliament will debate this petition on November 23, 2020. You will be able to watch online on the UK Parliament YouTube channel. “On July 6, the British Government established the Global Human Rights sanctions regime by laying regulations in Parliament under the Sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering Act 2018. “This sanctions regime will give the UK a powerful new tool to hold to account those involved in serious human rights violations or abuses. The sanctions regime is not intended to target individual countries. It will allow for sanctions to be imposed on individuals and entities involved in serious human rights violations or abuses around the world.” The PUNCH had reported that 220,304 individuals signed the petition asking the United Kingdom to sanction members of the Nigerian government and police force for human rights abuses over the #EndSARS movement. The petition, which was created by one Silas Ojo, sought to generate 100,000 signatures. According to information obtained from the UK parliament’s website, any petition signed by over 100,000 individuals will be considered for discussion. End SARS: CNN lied to the world about Nigeria – Buhari’s aide, Onochie Lauretta Onochie, Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Social Media, has slammed CNN over its investigative report on the Lekki shooting. On Thursday, the aide stated that CNN lied to the international community, adding that Nigeria will not be intimidated. “I’m not upset that CNN lied to the world about my nation, Nigeria. After the initial claim that troops were not deployed to the location, the Army said only blank bullets were fired. CCC Global Genesis Founder, Isreal Oladele, Jailed For Fraud . . A Lagos State High court on Wednesday sentenced popular prophet and Sheperd-in-charge of CCC Global Genesis church, Prophet Israel Oladele Ogundipe, to two-year imprisonment for defrauding a U.K- based woman. . . Justice Olabisi Akinlade sentenced the defendant to a year imprisonments for count two and four. She however discharged him of counts 1,3, 5 ,6 and 7 for lack of evidence. . . Oladele was charged with seven counts charges bordering on fraud and obtaining money by false pretenses, preferred against him by the Lagos State government. . . He was said to have defrauded one Mrs Olaide William Oni to the tune of N17m which she gave him to procure some landed properties on her behalf because she thought he was a good pastor. . . She said she first met the accused person in 2002 during her visit to Nigeria, when she was taken to his church for prayers by her step-sister. . . She said: “He told me something about my husband in one of his prophecies, that I should not have anything jointly with him because he was having an affair behind my back. . . He gave me a liquid to drink and I started vomiting. I was asked to sit down and he lighted a candle and said I should be there until the candle goes off.” . . According to her, he allegedly took her in company of her step-sister and cousin to a bush in Sango Ota area of Ogun State, where she was allegedly bathed with some concoctions near a river. . . She said her misfortune started when she returned to London, the prophet asked her to invest in landed property in Lagos, which she agreed. This she did after consultations with some persons. . . She allegedly sent N17 million in five tranches of N900,000, N2.5 million, N8.5 million, N2.7 million and £12,000 between 2002 and 2005 to purchase the property on her behalf, which turned out to be a fraud. . .
