"Don't Kill Anyone for Me Please"

Klamille is a beautifully well written romance. I love it, that’s no secret. But I want to talk about this quote because it shows their amazing development.

First lets go back to season 1. In episode 1x04 Klaus promises Cami he’ll find out what happened to her brother. He keeps his promise and two episodes later (in one of my favorite klamille scenes), he comes to tell Cami. Klaus is so proud because he kept is word and I’m guessing he wanted a pat on the back but man if the original hybrid was ever wrong it’s this time. This is early season 1 and while it’s made obvious to the audience that Klaus and Cami have a connection, and they’ve had…I’m gonna say 4 moments, where it’s shown, they still don’t know each other. I don’t wanna say they don’t know each other but they haven’t gotten to know each other as well as they do now. So, it didn’t dawn on Klaus (with all of his intelligence) that Cami wouldn’t like the fact that Agnes died. From Klaus’ pov everything’s great. He kept his word, found out what happened, and Elijah snapped Agnes’ neck so she won’t ever harm Cami or her family again. Sounds like a success. Except to Cami it isn’t, because Cami’s brand new into this supernatural world (I won’t pin it on her being human and not understanding). All Cami wanted was answers to her brother’s death. When Klaus tells her what went down she wants to know who the witch is. Looks like our girl wanted to question Agnes herself. Then Klaus smugly and gleefully states that Agnes is dead and Cami’s furious. Why? Because justice to Cami wouldn’t be Agnes dying, we don’t know for sure what it would have been because that choice and her will was taken out of the matter. Cami’s pissed because “You made me culpable in a revenge murder I never asked for”. It’s the last part that rightfully pisses her off. In her mind “finding out what happened” doesnt equate to a body count. She couldn’t wrap her head around why Klaus was expected her to be happy. That’s not who Cami is. She let Klaus know it too and he remembered (I’ll stop before this turns into a 1x06 meta).

In 1x19 an underrated yet powerful scene between them is when he asks permission to kill Kieran. I love that scene. No words are spoken, but Joseph and Leah act it out so well. Klaus asks permission to put that stake through Kieran’s heart. Klaus and Cami’s relationship has developed from 1x06 to 1x19. He asks her what she wants, and he’ll go with it (like he did that whole episode). Klaus who goes for the kill first, who wants to tear apart and destroy anyone who dares touch Cami, showed restraint and waited for her. (I did an excited clap when Aurora brought it up in 3x08 and Cami called it a mercy killing).

I will say it over and over again. What sets Cami and Klaus’ relationship apart is balance, trust, and respect. Respect respect respect R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

THAT is why even after Klaus gave Aurora my new favorite threatening speech by him, and after he told Elijah to “leave Aurora to him” to deal with where he fully intended to kill Aurora, he decides not to because Cami ASKS him. Not demands, screeches, or tries to force him. She simply says “Don’t kill anyone for me please” not knowing his intentions toward Aurora, she already stopped them.

It’s poignant that Cami says this after the big reveal of her assaulting that asshole. We learned something from Cami’s past but it developed her character where Aurora thought it’d ruin it. The audience learned a secret but Cami at her core is the same person. Which is why she asks Klaus not to kill anyone for her.

Watching Klaus and Cami’s relationship develop is truly amazing. This makes me think that Klaus won’t kill Aurora (even though I want him to). It would be more effective for him to honor Cami’s wish for him to not to kill anyone for her. It also falls in line with their development. But if he does kill her I will be ecstatic, or he could let Freya or Elijah kill her. Anything works for me I just want Aurora dead.
