Zophiel's First Birthday

I was very fortunate to witness all your firsts, from your first smile, to your first little steps, and everything in between. All your firsts I can vividly recall, a sensory experience, and all of them still elicit a smile and the occasional tear or two from this first time dad. You have grown so much since the first time I held you in my arms. You were so fragile then, I was so scared to carry you. But now look at you, no more the nimble one, you can crawl, walk, and even climb. You can utter simple words like mama and papa. You have a language of your own. You seem to understand or ignore me (if you feel like not talking to me) whenever I talk to you. The world is your playground! I can see it in your eyes, that determination, that thirst, that hunger for you to explore and learn. No worries little one I assure you...Go! Explore the world, and if you stumble and fall, me and your mama will always be ready to catch you, pick you up, and comfort you. You growing up is not just your own journey, but ours as well. You taught me a lot, patience, contentment, and love among other things. I will forever be grateful my child. A lot of firsts were witnessed and conquered and I am most definitely looking forward to more firsts together! Happy birthday Hailey Zophiel, my Toe Toe! <3
