Candy rant
Tumblr media
Is this allowed here? For some reason I can’t post to the crunchy group, but wanted to share as I know others in our realm feel the same.
Can we ever go to a kids party or public event nowadays without being given a bunch of processed, chemical, preservative and food coloring filled, big brand candy?
This weekend we went to 1) a parade where they kept throwing candy to all the kids, and 2) a birthday party with a piñata and goodie bags filled with well, poison “goodies”.
I let my kids celebrate all the “goodies” they got when we get home. But then, right in front of them, I pull out a whole bunch that are all glucose, sucrose, high fructose, “artificially flavored” with the carcinogenic reds, yellows and blues (which is basically everything they got). We say goodbye and toss them in the garbage.
I teach them that these are made with sugars, chemicals and other ingredients that don’t align with our natural bodies. To keep growing healthy and strong, we eat real foods and get natural sugars from fruits and honey.
I grew up eating this crap. “Candy” was one of my first spelling words. So I know how they make these things addictive… despite being disgusted by reading of all the ingredients, I still get tempted to eat them. But, I am definitely wanting my little ones to have better than me, to be exposed to only real foods and conscious thoughtful ingredients.
There are other brands out there making better candy and snacks. I envision the days when these go mainstream, and all these poisonous big brands crumble as they do not serve our collective any longer.

Difference between USDA organic and OCIA organic.
I’m buying a product now that organic and certified by the OCIA. And it makes me wonder why they don’t get USDA approved?
I’m a bit skeptical and wary of marketing schemes, so I want to make sure this is not it.
Example, companies using one company (in this example, OCIA) as a shell organization to be able to say something and market that something is organic when there’s a ton of small print.

Natural deodorant + sweat
Not sure where to post this but has anyone notice when using natural deodorant it makes you sweat so much? I don’t mean the comparison of natural vs aluminum deodorant. And I’m not talking about the transition from aluminum to natural deodorants.
But instead I’m talking be about having no deodorant on an not even sweating or maybe just minimal/light sweating but then if I put on natural deodorant there is suddenly loads of sweat dripping down my arm… anyone know why ? Or how to avoid this ? Or if there’s a brand you found that doesn’t do this ?

Organic coffee vs conventional
Does anyone notice a difference in how they feel when they drink organic coffee versus non-organic coffee?
I have noticed that when I drink coffee from any business I often get anxious or jittery, however I never feel that way when I drink coffee I prepare at home which is always organic.
My partner, that doesn’t think about this at all, seems to get the same effect. She drinks coffee I prepare at home daily with no negative side affects. She will drink even less in public than she does at home and feel very uncomfortable.
Obviously I’m biased, but she really doesn’t even think about it and reports negative side affects in similar circumstances

Looking for product advice in regards to skincare/soaps
Hello! I am trying to introduce more products in my life that are organic, and have minimal ingredients and chemicals for myself and my lover. I am looking for recommendations for the following.
Shampoo for oily wavy hair, and for frizzy dry curly hair? (Currently use hairitage, I don’t mind it but I think the ingredients could be better.)
Conditioner for the same types of hair? (Currently use hairitage)
Skincare? Moisturizer, acne, pores, oily skin (Currently use the ordinary and khiels idk how to spell it.)
TOOTHPASTE AND MOUTHWASH? I switch between different non fluoride ones. I’m in Florida so I’m sure we have more than enough fluoride and other chemicals in our water, alas we filter it though. However fluoride toothpaste makes BOTH of our gums feel irritated, which I find interesting
Thank you if you read this all!

Red light therapy??
I really didn’t know where to post this so any suggestions are much appreciated.
I have a red light therapy device, mine is from TrophySkin.
I’m struggling to understand how something that can have such transformational effects cannot damage DNA, be carcinogenic or affect hormones.
I haven’t done a research deep dive so please excuse me if I seem naive.
I just don’t understand how it can be safe?
If anyone has looked into this or knows where I can post, please let me know! 🙏

finding organic food in USA?
hey guys, soon I’m going on a holiday to USA, I think mainly around Florida and other states near there.
How do I know which foods are certified organic, and is there a tier system? How do I know the food I buy is going to be 100% organic, not 70 or 80%?
I’m not sure how it works so anything will help.

Toothpaste for cats?!! Urgent!
Anyone know of ANYTHING I can use to brush my cats teeth? I was using Vet’s Best with 3 ingredients, but she got some yeast buildup on her mouth so we had to discontinue.
I was looking into textured dental wipes for pets, and again I can’t trust the quality of any fabric.
Haven’t found a toothpaste apart from Vet’s Best without the carcinogenic ingredients?
I’ve posted in r/cats, just thought maybe someone here would know?
