The first two are 2-in-1 rotating models like the 3189 is.
We ran the system through our battery-rundown trial. Much more persistent than everyday browsing and work in Google Docs or Office Online, our battery test involves looping a locally stored video (the full The Lord of the Rings trilogy, which is why we got no work done on Tuesday) with the screen brightness set at 50 percent and audio volume at 100 percent.
Now, non-stop video playback is not the typical workload for a laptop in a class environment. That said, while the Chromebook 3189 was once again in the second-place spot, its 11 hour and 39 minute battery life is enough to get students through an entire school day, with some time to spare when they get home. (Or with time to spare for a school-resident Chromebook before it ends up in the charging cart again at the end of the school day.)
How good a choice the Dell Chromebook 3189 2-in-1 Education is comes down to what your needs are. While it isn’t the fastest, the lightest, nor the most inexpensive Chromebook you can get, it’s worth looking at if you’re a parent, looking for a Chromebook for your kids to take to school. And if you’re a technology admin/coordinator for a school or district, its sturdiness and its education-friendly features would make it a good choice for a system to hand out to students for in-class or roving use alike.

Despite only a small change to its model number, the Inspiron 15 7000 (7577) is a different machine than the previous Inspiron 15 7000 (7567). That said, it’s more of an evolution of the preceding design than an entirely new slate.
The lnspiron 7577 retains most of the design elements of the Inspiron 7567, including a large center-mounted display hinge, rear-facing exhaust vents, and a full-size keyboard with number pad. The physical dimensions are next to identical; the Inspiron 7567 was 15.2 by 10.9 inches, while this new Inspiron 7577 model with battery such as DELL Latitude E6520 Battery, DELL Vostro 3460 Battery, DELL Vostro 3560 Battery, DELL Inspiron 5420 Battery, DELL Inspiron 15R 7520 Battery, DELL Inspiron 17R 7720 Battery, DELL Latitude 5437 Battery, DELL Latitude 5537 Battery, DELL Latitude 2521 Battery, DELL Vostro 3445 Battery, DELL Vostro 2521 Battery, DELL Vostro 3546 Battery is 15.3 by 10.8 inches.
The Inspiron 7577 is a full half-pound lighter than its predecessor, at 5.3 pounds. We suspect some of this weight difference is due to the smaller 56-watt-hour battery in this model; the Inspiron 7567 had a more powerful 74 watt-hour battery. (See later in this review for the impact that had on battery life.)
After fully recharging the laptop, we set up the machine in power-save mode (as opposed to balanced or high-performance mode) and made a few other battery-conserving tweaks in preparation for our unplugged video-rundown test. In this test, we loop a video—a locally stored MP4 file containing the full The Lord of the Rings trilogy—with screen brightness set at 50 percent and volume at 100 percent until the system conks out.
The Dell Inspiron 7577 has objectively decent battery life for a gaming notebook in late 2017. However, it wasn’t even a comparison with the Inspiron 7567. That notebook used a larger 74-watt-hour battery, whereas the battery in the new Inspiron 7577 is rated for only 56 watt-hours. We aren’t sure why the Inspiron 7577 has a smaller battery, but the results speak for themselves.
As the saying goes, good things take time. We suppose that’s the reason we’re not grabbing Dell by the shoulders and asking why the Inspiron 15 7000 (7577) wasn’t available earlier in the year. Although similar to the preceding Inspiron 15 7000 (7567) in many respects, this Inspiron 7577 is a new model. It has a refined design, adds a Thunderbolt 3 (Type-C USB) port, and also includes a fingerprint reader. The base $949 model we tested also included solid-state drive (SSD) storage as standard equipment.
For gaming, the most important single addition to the new Inspiron 7577 is its Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 Max-Q graphics card. With this GPU, it was on average 38 percent faster than the Inspiron 7567 we tested with the GTX 1050 Ti. Considering the Inspiron 7567 goes for $849, the $100 (11 percent) extra you’ll need to pony up for the Inspiron 7577’s superior performance isn’t hard to justify.
The only real downside we noted about the Inspiron 7577 relative to the Inspiron 7567 is that it has about half the battery life. Granted, the Inspiron 7577’s time of 5 hours and 43 minutes in our test was nothing to be ashamed of. As a matter of fact, it lasted as long as or longer than many of its competitors.
Overall, for south of the four-figure mark, we can’t think of a gaming notebook that offers a better price-to-performance ratio than the Dell Inspiron 7577. Its nice-looking 1080p IPS display, easy end-user serviceability, and availability in two colors sweeten the deal. This is one notebook that is truly hard to go wrong with.

Microwatts is also a way to measure absolute power. Some manufacturers specify their transmission equipment in watts instead of dBm. The OPM 5 offers the ability to measure watts for convenience when verifying output power of transmitters. For accurate results, always be sure to set the OPM 5 to measure the same wavelength as the output of the optical light source.

Agilent HP E6000B Mini OTDR

The Agilent/HP E6000B OTDR with battery such as Agilent A3 Battery, Agilent E6000 Battery, Agilent E6000A Battery, Agilent E6000B Battery, Agilent E6000C Battery, Agilent E6080A Battery, Acterna Battery, Acterna MTS-5000 Battery, Acterna MTS-5100e Battery, Air Shields Battery, Vickers 2HR-4UC Battery, Air Shields-Vickers JM103 Battery repeatedly outputs an optical pulse into the connected fiber and measures the reflections from this pulse. The trace displayed on the screen is a graph of this reflected power (backscatter) as a function of the distance along the fiber.
Events are changes in the fiber causing the trace to deviate from a straight line. Events can be Reflective or Non-Reflective.
Reflective Events occur when some of the pulse energy is reflected, for example at a connector. Non-Reflective Events occur at parts of the fiber where there is some loss but no light is reflected. Non-Reflective Events produce a dip on the trace.
The E6000B OTDR calculates the distance of such an "event" in the fiber from the time it takes the reflected signal to return. The further away an event is, the longer it takes for its reflection to return to the E6000B OTDR.
A fully automatic function is available and the E6000B OTDR sets itself up to achieve the best results for the measurements such as the location (distance) of events on the link, the end of the link or a break, the attenuation coefficient of the fiber in the link, the loss of an individual event or the total end-to-end loss of the link, the magnitude of the reflection (or reflectance) of an event, such as a connector, the cumulative loss to an event can be measured automatically.
The Agilent E6000B can operate through the supplied AC adapter between 100V and 240V ±10%, at a frequency in the range from 50 to 60 Hz. The maximum power consumption is 30VA with all options installed.
The Agilent E6000B can operate from a DC power source that supplies between 16V and 24V. The maximum power consumption during a quick charge is 30W with all options installed. Typical power consumption is below 8W.
