Wir kannten nicht sein unerhörtes Haupt,

darin die Augenäpfel reiften. Aber

sein Torso glüht noch wie ein Kandelaber,

in dem sein Schauen, nur zurückgeschraubt,

sich hält und glänzt. Sonst könnte nicht der Bug

der Brust dich blenden, und im leisen Drehen

der Lenden könnte nicht ein Lächeln gehen

zu jener Mitte, die die Zeugung trug.

Sonst stünde dieser Stein entstellt und kurz

unter der Schultern durchsichtigem Sturz

und flimmerte nicht so wie Raubtierfelle;

und bräche nicht aus allen seinen Rändern

aus wie ein Stern: denn da ist keine Stelle,

die dich nicht sieht. Du mußt dein Leben ändern.

short bayeux tapestry nerd moment: - it's not actually a tapestry, tapestries are woven! this is an embroidery! it's also not from bayeux, that's just where it was displayed. The part i have taken inspiration from is the most well known part, harold's death at the battle of hastings in 1066 (harold rex interfectus est). also one other part is that the margins sometimes contain pictures depicting aesop's fables that would relate to the people depicted in the mein part. (the one i chose here is about the headstrong donkey)

this year, i made another little comic thingy, a bit like 2020 and 2021, this time on pages from my notebook with gel pen and coloured pencil.

Dear Seb, all throughout the years, you have been a role model to me, someone who made me happy, who changed, and showed that we have the power to change and become better versions of ourselves every day.

So above all, I hope you're happy. I hope you're happy, i hope you enjoy your life. I hope this new year of your life brings you joy, I hope you keep changing and learning and improving.

Binding fanfic: Solar Flare by Tianvette

242,762 words over 45 chapters - 734 pages

Solar Flare has been one of my absolute favorite fics since the day (well, night when I should've been asleep) I started reading it and now (with Tianvettes permission) I've turned it into an actual book! It's been a labour of love and I'm beyond proud of how it turned out.

The cover (both front and back) is decorated with metallic transfer foil and gold marker, the headband is hand-stitched.

The front and back flyleaf and endpage tie into the space imagery.

As a bear, Sebastian has periods where he doesn't remember he is human. Sometimes he wakes up covered in blood. He can change at will but he can't seem to suppress the change, to force it down. If he waits for too long, the outcome will get worse, days, sometimes a full week gone from his memory. The anxiety of checking the news after waking up naked, smelling of pine needles. The bear pelt he changes into always makes its way into his field of vision sooner or later and sometimes when he puts it on he finds himself consciouly letting go of his memories, fanning the flames of instinct to take over. On those occasions, he isn't scared of losing himself anymore, it's like he was always meant to be a bear, like the man's life was a bad dream. He cries when no fur covers his weak, naked body anymore, sometimes out of relief, sometimes mourning the loss.
