PAUSE FOR A THOUGHT
What is your dream?
This question have been asked to me so many times that at this point it makes me wonder, what is truly my dream? I have so many dreams in life, I have a lot I want to achieve. First, is to achieve the job career I want and that is to become a doctor, earn a lot of money and give my mom the rest and luxury she deserves. Second, experience romantic love and have a partner in life. Lastly, travel the world and live the best out of it. That just sums it all, everything I dream of.

Jollibee Story
The story that really touched me was that, his parents were an OFW and his parents kept on sending him gifts and ‘pasalubongs’ from the other country every Christmas but what he really wanted as a gift was for his parents to come home for holidays. I relate to it so much as my mom is an OFW as well. She only comes home for every two years, either on our summer vacation or for holidays. I almost cried on that part where he saw his parents on the airport because I always feel the same, whenever she arrives or when she leaves. It’s painful to see your family suffering on the other country knowing you can’t personally be by their side.

5 Love Languages
As I observed from myself, yes, I agree to this because I love meeting up with my friends even just grabbing some food somewhere, sit and talk a little. Even without food and just simply sitting outside somewhere and talk a lot with them. I’m a very simple person, as long as I can spend time with my friends and family I am happy.

SHARE YOUR LOVE STORY
I never had a boyfriend 'til now and I only had two whom I considered as a suitor. I mean people talked to me before but only through social media and never showed their sincerity in person. They tried to but I was the one who refused to because I was still immature back then and I know that I could never handle such relationship. My ideal relationship were almost impossible because of my high standards due to the influence of movies and books. Although I had crushes now and then, I never did confessed, It did strike on my mind to tell them that I liked them but never had the courage to do so because I slowly realized I wasn’t afraid of love, I was afraid of rejection and commitment.
Until now I still do not know how does the feeling of love differs with the feeling of infatuation. I'm afraid to involve myself in a relationship, realizing that its all not rainbows and butterfly. I just know I'm not ready yet. What ma'am Jecille said about the importance of being one’s self stableness hit me so much. I could agree and relate to it. Being stable in all aspects gives more assurance for a healthy and steady relationship so what I'm saying is that I'm not yet stable, either physically, mentally or spiritually. I know time will come when I can easily accept all my fears and insecurities and by that time I hope someone stayed by my side and never got tired of waiting for me.

PAUSE FOR A THOUGHT
How do you handle expectations? Do you see them as challenges or potential failures? Do you thrive on challenges or do you shrink away from them?
I don’t handle expectations very well, especially if I’m not confident with my skills in the field of uncertainties. I see it both as a challenges and at the same time, something that is impossible to avoid, a potential failure. I always tell myself that everything is all about trial and error. Failure is something you can never avoid in life, the good thing is I see failures as something I shouldn’t feel mad about, but instead take it as a lesson and take note of those that could help you to achieve more success the next time you try. I thrive on challenges and I sometimes shrink away from it too. It really depends.
Do you believe that adolescence is a period of stress and storm? Why?
Yes, because this is the period where people are feeling the major changes they are experiencing in their life. Feelings and emotions that used to be foreign is now what we normally feels and experience.
What are the challenges that you face and how can you manage them?
A lot. There’s so much and majority of them are personal and is something I’m not willing to share. Yes, it’s to that extent. I don’t even know if I’m managing it well. People tells me otherwise of what other people tells me so I’m not very sure right now. Stress constantly haunts me and is now something I’m not even surprised anymore. There are times before where I couldn’t tell that I’m stressed and my friends notices it a lot, they would give me advices which I’m thankful. But these days, I notice when I am stressed and tired. So I would usually go out and maybe unwind for a while, do some walking around the neighborhood.

PAUSE FOR A THOUGHT
What are those things that you’ve received but you weren’t thankful for not knowing it’s a blessing from God?
I have received countless things in my life, and God knows that I am thankful for all that He has given me. But if I were to think of something I wasn't thankful that I didn't know it was a blessing from Him, it would be all the challenges and hardships I've encountered in life, even though I'm treating it as a lesson in life I've never thought of it as a blessing, and now that I'm thinking about it again, it's actually something I still have to thank Him for because of what I've learned through all the lessons it taught me and the hardships I've faced.
What I've learned from today's discussion is that it's all right to compare yourself to others as long as it's healthy and helps you motivate yourself to aim for a better version of yourself. Comparing cannot be helped, as this is our nature as a human being, but don't let it be your standard of living your life, don't let it poison your mind and manipulate what you want to do in life. Happiness is when you're thinking about your own business and focusing on your growth.

PAUSE FOR A THOUGHT
Do u know yourself? How did you learn these things about yourself? Where did the information come from? Do you like what you know?
I know myself, but there are some instances I don't know about. Those moments make me realize that I still have a lot of things I don't know about myself. I treasure all those moments, especially if my friends were to tell me something about myself that I don't even know, because it helps me to learn and understand myself better, for the growth that I'd like to have in order for me to be a better person. Of course, not everything that they tell me has been positive, not everything that I know is to my liking, there are negative things as well. But I take it seriously as a challenge, accepting everything they're telling me and taking notes of the things I've had to change, slowly but surely they say. You accept how life works when you accept yourself. Knowing oneself, loving oneself, and accepting oneself, comes first after all, because at the end of the day, we only have to rely on ourselves.

“The Good and the Bad: How Social Media Affected Me as a Gen Z Individual”
When we think about social network platforms we can see that more and more people dive into these types of media , we cannot deny the fact that social media has become a huge part of our lives in which it allows us to communicate with others and share interests. Social media platforms also helps us to promote the works of those who like to write , draw and other interest in life but as much as the possibility that the social media can provide, there are also some bad sides to it some people who cannot resist from using it. There are also a lot of scammers or trolls in social media because you don't know the person behind the screen. Some people may lack or have difficulties in socializing in real life and social media has helped them to build their social lives. Social networking platforms serves as a rendezvous in working and promoting one’s self. However, these types of media bring negative effects in some aspects of life for Gen Z users.
While social media has great advantages, it also carries many disadvantages, particularly for the youth. As a Gen Z individual, social media is negatively affecting my behavior, mental health, and physical health. In terms of behavior, I sometimes have a difficult time interacting with others face to face which might lead to unsociable behavior. With social media it has become impossible to avoid bad news and the negative influences on our lives. It turns out, I sometimes feel unhappy with the current circumstances leading to mental health problems with self-esteem, depression and many more. In terms of physical health, I already experienced some side effects of excessive use of social media. One of the them is the eye strain especially that we are attending virtual classes. Lastly, the lack of sleep and stress which can cause a negative impact on our health. There are a lot of pros and cons of social media but do not forget to live the real life and don't spend all your free time scrolling through your feed before it consumes the whole out of you.

The Setbacks of Piracy
As our technology advances, internet crime became rampant. The internet has been used as a haven for illegal activities such as piracy in which people download content illegally without the permission of the owner. Even though some people don’t feel that piracy is a crime that affects anybody, it really does. The growth of piracy is actually dangerous that can cause great harm to people. It was also said that piracy is actually killing the film industry. It has been very common everywhere in the world and has always been affecting the film industry in such a negative way. Pirating is stealing, making money off others products, and financially harming not just the actors, producers, and directors, but all of the professions involved in the making of a movie, from your musical score composer to the make-up artists and film crew are being devalued. Music and films are meant to be bought to be enjoyed by the general public, not to be stolen and used for a profit illegally.
People pirate movies, music and so on and give it out to the public to use. And yes, it is cheaper to get than the regular prices of the product, and people do get really tempted to fall for it, that is how it affects the business of music and film. Instead of watching or listening it in the legal and safe way, many people really prefer the free and cheap ones regardless if it is from a legal or illegal sources. Many people also don’t like the thought of spending too much on films, music and many more that’s why sometimes piracy makes so much profit than the original source. According to Atty. Alonso, “Times bring in change, both bad and good. Technology is now the poster child of change. Even with technology changing the industry, it’s important to recognise the hard work and depth of creativity poured into each film. It is not only the actors producers involved. A lot of unseen individuals, without whom, the work cannot be completed, are being affected too. We should protect all of them”. Pirates should respect all the people behind it, enough to realize how much effort they put into making music and films.

Ending Digital Divide: Hand in Hand in Reaching People Behind
There is a quote by Marshall McLuhan that goes “We become what we behold. We shape our tools and then our tools shape us.”. Technology is like negotiation between tools and digital users. Technology continues to offer opportunities. However, it slowly shapes our norms, behavior, way of thinking and personalities. The world is slowly transforming into a new digital globe. But the question is, are we all into this big change? Can we survive adapting to new changes while half of our people are being left behind? Would there be a great wall that would hinder our connection among those people struggling to cope with the new normal? This digital divide has been one of the biggest challenges we continue to fight upon the birth of technology. Digital divide has been an issue in which socioeconomic background matter among individuals, social classes, business and even countries which has become a standard among these fields.
We students usually observe and experience digital divide. In scenarios like competitions, universities who have the capability to supply its students with equipment have a great edge among others. This is because they only have to focus on training its students. On the other hand, those universities who are insufficient with equipment still need to find solution on this matter which affects the learning process and information the students get. On this simple matter there is already inequality and prejudice. How much more on bigger situations like in between countries. There are still several countries who are struggling to provide every individual to connect and access information. In bridging the gap of digital divide, every individual must be understanding, innovative, and literate in using digital devices. We must understand the struggles of both sides to stop discrimination and underestimation. Part of the world may still have no full access to what technology offers but if we have the heart and mind in understanding each other then we can surpass this obstacle.

The Reigning of New Media in Upcoming X years
As technology advances, the media world is also changing from traditional to new media. Nowadays, new media has become prominent and influential to us in in a way that we cannot live without it. People of all ages are using new media tools such as social media, digital devices and other social networks in disseminating information all around the globe. Unlike before, our ancestors mainly depend on print and broadcast media as their primary source of news and information. In this era that technological advancement is improving to its maximum capacity, it is now possible to spread and receive news and information within minutes or even seconds. New media has made long distances between people shorter. Living in a world incorporated with technology, information tends to spread quickly, easily, and freely.
The question is, would print and broadcast media work in the next generation despite the convenience that new media offers? The negative side of new media is that its reliability is not always guaranteed and worse everyone has the capacity to produce information may it be true or not. Unlike in news and broadcast media, there is an editor and publisher who ensures the information released to the public is correct. The good thing why print and broadcast media continue to function is because there are still a lot of people who rely to this. As a young individual who lives in this developing world, we believe that just like new media, print and broadcast media will also develop and still has not put an end to its progress. Our perspective in the upcoming 5 years is that different medias will merge in servicing the public. Different medias will go hand in hand to reach every individual in every corner of the world. We believe that there would be no one wo will be left behind. Everyone would be a great individuals equipped with knowledge of what is happening around the world.

“Media and Government: A Love-Hate Relationship”

In a democratic country, media holds its big purpose in public service by engaging passive citizens into active participants that favors diversity of voices and opinions. The role of media in a country is crucial as it broadcasts stories thereby influencing beliefs, thinking, and behavior in promoting democratic ideals. The use of media is pivotal as it educates citizens to make rational political decisions to ensure the transparency of a responsible government. To attain fairness and neutrality the media limit its range of views and opinions that it distributes to call for an equal social, cultural, and economic capital among citizens. Media and politics are dependent to each other in fostering democratic culture. Government make use of media in transmitting messages nationwide. Conversely media seeks for plurality of sources from the government and of expressed opinions under permissible condition to strengthen public service by broadcasting this information and makes the citizens enlightened.
In the Philippines, media independence is considered one of the difficult social issues it faces despite its democracy of freedom of expression. Clearly, the media has its limits to where it can reach and accomplish. This is a clear manifestation that even a democratic country still finds it hard to enjoy its liberty due to lack of independence and autonomy of media. On the other side of the story, the faulty distortion of information of media became rampant that fake news has been a top issue in the society. The factors fake new are due to dictations from other people with high power, news companies are no longer the only source of information because social media has evolved a citizen journalism. The active engagement of the citizens online has built their power to disseminate information regardless of its credentials. The role of media in the Philippines has been acting as a watchdog to the government by collecting the views, demands and ambition of every citizen to attain an ideal democratic country.
