Can anyone recommend some good Astarion centric fics (not necessarily astarion/Tav) where he feels written very true to his character? I know of only one

Since the Astarion embargo has been lifted...
Not enough people talk about the fact that he acted like he hated Scratch only to get genuinely weepy if he dies.
Never trust anything Astarion says, ever.

This is probably the weirdest ask you've ever gotten but I'm oddly fascinated by Wyll's horns. How does he sleep with those things? Are they heavy? I have so many questions.
I've seen a few pics and head canons centered around Karlach and or a Tiefling Tav offer Wyll tips on figuring out sleeping positions and pillow layouts that were real cute.

While we're on the topic of Tara, and can mention him.
I think Astarion and Tara would hate each other. Gale has to keep them in separate rooms if Astarion visits. They're both playing it up a little bit, as like, a bit. But Gale is not in on the joke.
Astarion is canonically fine with her eating pigeons and disapproves if you tell Tara to stop that. So I think he does encourage every horrible cat behavior on the sly and they bond over that.

I feel like I'm one of the only people that thinks that every character works with every other character. There's a lot of chemistry between every single companion and every single pairing. There's exactly one that I'm not a fan of, but that's more personal preference than anything. I can't deny that it works and is popular for a reason. For me, the only solution is to have Faerun's messiest polycule. Everyone's dating everyone and you get a dozen dynamics in one relationship.

It's pretty much canon that Tara does like Shadowheart. In one of her endings, she visits Gale in Waterdeep and has tea with him on his balcony, with Tara sitting on her lap. The way Shadowheart talks about it, she had a great time with both Gale and Tara.
You're totally right, anon, I actually remember that now! I'm so used to her ending with her parents now that I know how to trigger it that it's been forever since I saw her wandering Selunite ending.
I retract my previous statement. Shadowheart remains queen of all the animals. I do think an argument between the two of them would be hilarious though!

"I don't think their relationship would be healthy. She would push him to become a god, and he would end up in a very similar dynamic he had with Mystra. They're not enemies to lovers." I wanted to give my two cents: I like them because they're unhealthy. I have seen some great kink art of the two of them and it is super unhealthy and bad for Gale. That's part of the fun of it. Don't get me wrong, she's not my main ship for him (that's Lae'zel or a repentant Durge) but I like Gale/Minthara (Galethara?) quite a bit.

Yes I love shipping Gale with my evil characters because it is hysterical. Also Gale is hands down the best roaster in the party seriously unmatched shade throwing.
Plus he's such a power gremlin. The way my PC can do some wild shit and he's just "...welp least we got something out of it" sends me everytime.

Honorable mention: Lae'zel. Less that she's trans and more that I imagine that githyanki genders aren't an exact 1:1 to everyone else's genders. The easiest translation for her gender is female, but if we could speak her language we'd find out that the actual concept for her gender is a little different
Hard agree, I think the Gith come off as a very non gendered society, I like to think gender roles don't exist and finding out about them would be part of the faerun culture shock.

it's actually pretty incredible that someone can try to encourage some minthara positivity and someone immediately flies in and starts talking how she is the worst. if you twist her words out of context and if you think she's so toxic, why are you even responding to an anon about favourite ships with her in it?
Because it touches on issues personal to me and I let my fight instict overtake my good judgement.
I apologise for that. I'll try to do better in the future.

Astarion asks are back on, mostly because I have a little extra time tonight. Don't make me regret this, okay?

Personally, I think Tara would hate Minthara.
She's clearly very protective of Gale, seeing him like a disobedient yet very talented one of her kittens.
If she overheard that whole "Third son" BS she'd claw her eyes out.
That being said... Minthara would definitely make her eat spiders as a "Fuck you" to Lolth and find it really funny. I've seen cats do that.
Minthara used to have a pet displacer beast. There's got to be some overlap between them and tressyms, right?

Idk if this is allowed since ik we can't talk about the characters sexuality*, buuuuuut I have some trans headcanons for the characters: 1) Wyll - I like to imagine he got a Potion of ChangeYourGender out of his deal with Mizora. 2) Damon - idk, he just has trans vibes. As a trans man, I know these things
3) Alphira - something about her just screams trans woman. Is it the hair? Is it the bard? Is it just Vibes? Same justification as Damon I guess. Honorable mention: Lae'zel. Less that she's trans and more that I imagine that githyanki genders aren't an exact 1:1 to everyone else's genders. The easiest translation for her gender is female, but if we could speak her language we'd find out that the actual concept for her gender is a little different *they're all pan. people can say otherwise if they want, like you do you I'm not your dad, but you're wrong
It's okay to talk about this stuff. We just don't want another round of "are the companions ~really~ pan????"

“I don't think I realized until I started this blog just how weird people get about Tav's and Durges. People have so much vitriol for them and it's wild to me considering MOST people play as one.”
Besides a couple of jerks incorrectly calling all Tavs or Durges self-inserts or Mary Sues, I think most of Tav and Durge asks are pretty tame. At most, the anons just come off as annoyed at what they perceive as the fandom hating on their favorite companion characters for the same personality traits and story tropes that many Tavs and Durge OCs get praised by for.
I think they like screaming into void here since this blog is one of the few places that they can do so without any backlash.

That is a very reasonable question.
