Hi @ssreeder I made some fanart for ur fic :^ )
I seriously love your story, I have so much respect for your dedication and I admire your writing. I love how you pace Sokka and Zukos relationship and the build up is definitely worth it. I don't think a fic has ever been able to give me such visceral reactions to the horrible shit characters have to go through so props to you for your ability to make very threatening situations. I'm definitely glad we're past the worst of it, can't wait to see the boys heal and reunite with the gaang again.

Kim Friele and Wenche Lowzow after their civil union ceremony in Oslo City Hall on August 6, 1993
This was the first ceremony in the City hall after the new law allowing same sex civil unions in Norway was introduced in the spring of 1993.
Wenche Lowzow (1926-2016) was the first openly gay parliamentary representative. Kim Friele (1935) was the first person in Norway to be publicly openly gay without using a pseudonym. Kim’s work was very influencial in the fight to decriminalize homosexuality in 1972 and declassifying homosexuality as a psychiatric condition in 1978. In 1981 Norway became the first country in the world to extend the law against dicrimination based on race to also apply to sexual orientation, this was largely due to Kim Friele and other activists’ tireless lobbying. Kim has also written several books, among other things about the abuses suffered by gay people from the Nazi’s.
In 1982 Kim and Wenche were invited to a hearing in the US Congress. As their orientation where considered a disease in the United States they had to get exemption from the visa regulations to enter the country and were not allowed to leave Washington, D.C. but they chose to ignore this and traveled around. They both strongly opposed these immigration laws and thus contributed to the law being amended in 1988.
Kim and Wenche lived together at a cabin on Haugastøl in Hol until Wenche became ill. For Pride month 2019 a plaque was added to a bench by the National theater station in memory of where Kim used to sit in the 60s and look for other women like her. From before she also has a bust at City Hall Square, and she was named a Knight of the 1st class of the Order of St. Olav in 2000.

Filler words in Norwegian
Can’t learn a language without fillers!
altså - “well…” or “so…” It’s often used to enhance confidence, whether it’s strong or weak. Altså, mamma sa at jeg får lov til å gjøre det.. / Well, mum said I’m allowed to do it..
vel - “well”, can be used in the same way as in English. You can also combine it with altså: Vel, altså, her er planen… / Well, so, here is the plan…
liksom - the Norwegian equivalent to “like” - use it everywhere! It can also be used to enhance sarcasm. Har du liksom tenkt å gå med det der? / Are you seriously like, going to wear that thing?
da - this literally means then, but we often use it to end sentences, especially if we’re saying something that another person might want to argue with. And since it means ‘then’, you can also use it in the same way as in English. Jeg skulle jo liksom bare prøve den på, da. / I was just going to like, try it on.
ehh / øhh - uhh, uhm. Super useful.
på en måte - “in a way” or “kind of”. Han er litt merkelig, på en måte. / He’s a little strange, kind of.
bare - “just” Jeg skal bare innom butikken. / I’m just gonna pop by the store.
ikke sant? - translates to “not true”, but is used for saying “right?” “don’t you agree?”. Around Bergen, people usually drop the “ikke” and just say “sant”. I’m from Bergen so I didn’t know that not everyone says this until I googled it lol.
skjønner du / skjø’ - used at the end of sentences in the same way as “you see” in English. It comes from the word “å skjønne”, which means to understand, to realize or to “get it”. “Skjø’” is not really used in the southern regions, but if you’re around Trøndelag, you’ll hear this a lot. In other regions one would say “skjønner du”. Han er lærer, skjø’/skjønner du. / He is a teacher, you see.
Feel free to ask me questions about these or request more specific fillers!
