The Lockwood name is a legacy. What is a legacy? For Tyler, it was a burden. His entire life, he was pushed by his father (mentally, emotionally, and sometimes physically) to do better. Be better. Score more goals. Run faster. Jump higher. Work. Work. Work. By the time he was reaching his double digit ages, his relationship with his father was tumultuous at best. It didn’t help that his father was also the Mayor of the Quarter, and the family was always in the public eye. He quickly befriended Matt Donovan, and from his friendship with Matt, he joined the fabulous five-some friendship consisting of Elena Gilbert, Caroline Forbes and Bonnie Bennett. He was the quick tempered jock who the group begrudgingly claimed as their own. 

Tyler began to date Matt’s sister, Vicki Donovan. This put a dampening on his friendship with Matt and the two began to grow distant. Things only got worse when Tyler treated Vicki badly and the two ended their relationship, yet were still found getting high and sleeping together. Tyler’s life only continued to spiral downward after the death of his uncle, which prompted the arrival of his uncle Mason Lockwood. His uncle’s presence in the Lockwood home didn’t initially help with his aggression and issues, but it allowed him more insight into exactly what kind of legacy his family had.

The Lockwood family were a unique breed of werewolf, cursed with an inability to tap into their supernatural powers until they kill someone. Shortly after finding out this information, Tyler accidentally triggered his latent werewolf curse in a strategic plan by Katherine Pierce in order to sacrifice him to win her freedom from Klaus. Unable to control his abilities, he ran. 

P R E S E N T

Tyler stumbled upon a couple of Omega wolves in his journeys outside of the Quarter, introducing him to Hayley Marshall. She was sarcastic and fun; she had enough spice in her attitude to keep him in check. As someone who already struggled with anger issues, his attitudes and disposition have just been amplified. She helped him get control over what he was doing, and after a few months, he decided it was time to come back to the Quarter.

Unbeknownst to Tyler, hidden underneath his home in the cellar, Cora Hale was being held captive. After she escaped and returned to the Quarter, she and Tyler connected and have become best friends. She currently lives with him and is slowly piecing together the information about being held captive in the cellar of the Lockwood estate. 

Little does he know that there is more in plan for him as well. Klaus Mikaelson has been keeping an eye on him, considering him the optimal candidate for building his hybrid army. In the mean time, Tyler has also been receiving help from Hayley who returned back to the Quarter with him in order to help make sure that she was able to keep an eye on him and his powers. 

CONNECTIONS

Matt Donovan, Elena Gilbert, Caroline Forbes, Bonnie Bennett: childhood best friends that he’s grown closer to ever since he triggered his family curse and became a werewolf 

Cora Hale: his female best friend, she currently lives with him and he has no clue about her being held captive all that time

Hayley Marshall: a fellow wolf who is trying to help him understand his powers and gain control over them

Mason Lockwood: uncle, competitively strained relationship  

PLOT ARCS

Tyler will become Klaus’ first hybrid after the Freshman bid night.

Tyler will be involved with Cora discovering the truth about where she was being held captive and why.
