On top of this, not too long ago Max mentioned how sometimes he waits for Lando's reply if he'll be on and doesn't stream so he and Lando can game offline, just them, off-stream.

He puts aside a part of his JOB just to hang out with him when Lando finally has time in his busy schedule. And we all know how gaming is one of the things that helps Lando to unwind and get his mind off of racing (no matter if it's going well or... not so well).

still thinking about max on stream today saying that he doesn't usually text much with lando on race weekends when he's doing well, letting him do his thing, but he does text him and they talk when things aren't going right. the fact that he's so conscientious of protecting lando's success, so unwilling to bother him or distract him or insert himself in a way that might jeopardize him being in the zone, but he's there the instant he senses that lando would benefit from hearing from him and would value his support. he knows lando so well after all these years, and there's such palpable devotion and selflessness. it's not about him and what he might want when it comes to connecting with lando during the busy time of high-stakes competition, what he wants is what lando needs, no more, and no less. he's clearly content to witness lando's success from a distance, and then also to share the weight of his struggles from up close. i know that lando's friendship gives him so much meaning and value to his life, and that the caretaking in return from lando is different in kind but not unequal in sincerity, but i just love when max shows us hints of the way he specifically loves lando, you know? their friendship is so beautiful to me.

In 2018 Max had won at Silverstone during the Eurocup, and was even considered a favorite for pole in 2019 F3 (per the qualifying commentary), but ended up having a mid quali, and then having a rather dire weekend, finishing both the sprint and the feature race outside the points 😔
