FMSC Video Project
I took part in the project by taste testing the MannaPack for the promotional FMSC video. In the first trial it was not made the right way and was very crunchy, and it was a really funny experience to see everyone’s different reaction to how it tasted to them. I personally did not like it at all and did not even finish eating the food. During the second trial, it was made the correct way and it was not bad at all. I would not mind donating the FMSC to give this food for starving children. I liked how the food had good nutritional value which will help the children be able to live healthier lives. I also volunteered at the bake sale where I handed out flyers and talked to students in the cafeteria. The only thing I would change about the bake sale is that we should do more promotion ahead of time because many people did not know that it was going on or where the bake sale was located.

Chapter 3 Out On The Wire
What stood out to me in this chapter was the use of suspense to keep a reader on his toes, instead of having a perfect ending. This is very important because you want to leave the reader reflecting and putting things together in the story. Without any suspense there would be no reason to read stories or wanting to hear more from the author. Telling a story that paints a picture in your head is very important because it really keeps you engaged.

Chapter 4: Relationship Management
The most important thing in Public Relations is ethics because without ethics companies would not be trusted by the public. This controls what they are able to say and do which makes them trustworthy. When trying to gain support from people making pitches and marketing there business or company is very important which makes them able to persuade other people and support them. Companies will make changes to there products to accommodate there customers and will market this with different promotions and other ideas.

History of Public Relations (Ch.2)
The Boston Tea Party was an early example of PR because it was a way of protesting against the British government and getting the message out to the public without any type of actual advertisement.
Bernays was smart by using the women’s right movement as a way to get more women to smoke cigarettes. They were seen more as equals to men if they could smoke more into public because this was not normal for them to smoke out in public. Ivy lee would give information to the public to give him credibility with what he was saying. P.T. Barnum used to over exaggerate things and tells lies to make people come and see his circuis. Even when he had bad reviews he used this to his advantage to gain more exposure of his circus.

What is Public Relations? (Ch.1)
Public Relations is managing the spread of information from an organization to the public. This could also be about a certain individual as well. Before reading this chapter I thought it was more about marketing and advertising. I did not know that Public Relations was such a major factor in everyone’s daily life and we do not even realiz this is happening.

Principled Public Relations (Ch.1)
Some people describe public relations as the conscience of an organization. Do you think that is a good way to define public relations? Why or why not?
Yes I believe this is a great idea. This will keep organizations following the code of ethics, because they would not want bad reviews which would lose them losing money. A organizations reputation is everything to them, due to the fact that they will get the word out about themselves by other people who support what they are doing.

Feed My Starving Children(FMSC)
We interviewed Dr. Kotz who is a professor in the physical therapy program at Villa Maria College. She came to inform us more about Feed My Starving Children which is a Christian non profit organization that helps people in need in developing countries. In this organization they provide packages of nutritional food that gets sent out to different people in need. Volunteers are always needed and donations are also welcome . It does not cost much to make these packs and they save many lives by giving the consumers the right nutrients What stood out to me was the picture that she had on her board. It was a picture of a 9 year old boy who only weighed 19 pounds and just from these packs that were made helped him gain over 40 pounds in a short period of time. It stood out to me because I have a daughter and she is almost his weight but is only 6 months old. I look forward to helping out by volunteering because I know that it is for a really good cause and I will be able to know that I made a difference. I also helped with Sean and Ben’s video where we tasted the Manna packs that will be packaged by FMSC. It was a very good experience because I would want to know what I was supporting and giving my time towards. I feel like this should happen because it will give people more of a reason to support the organization.

Movie trailers
I watched the 40 Year Old Virgin and it all revolves around his insecurities. He was fine with being a virgin until his peers finds out and it is a big deal to them. He wants to prove them wrong by having sex and does many things that he is uncomfortable doing.
I also watched the Black Panther trailer and in the beginning the guy is talking about how advanced Wakanda is and how he has ever seen anything like this. They then show many action scenes which will get people excited and want to go see the movie even though there is more to it. This builds up the suspense and will get more people to come see the movie.

Viviana Riveria’s Hurricane experience
We interviewed Vivian Riveria who is a student at Villa Maria and was a survivor of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. This was a category 5 storm, which means that it is the most powerful and dangerous. During the interview some things that stood out to me is how she was so open to talk about a tragic event in her life. Many people who go through these type of tragic situations do not think about it as a good and something that needs to happen. The storm brought her family a lot closer and made them appreciate each other even more. Even though she said the storm didn’t effect her, she still wanted to move to a part of the United States that would not have a risk of getting another hurricane.

Who am I ?
Hello my name is Jabari Hibbert and I am a Digital Media and Communications Major and this is my junior year at Villa Maria college. I enjoy writing and being taught new ways to improve my skills on a daily basis and I believe this major will help me improve on my writing flaws throughout the semester. I am excited to take the Narrative Arc course because I will be able to map out stories and be able to tell them fluently. We will also learn how to analyze a story in different parts. I also am taking a public relations course, where I will be learning many new things because I do not know much about Public Relations as a whole. So far this semester I have learned that Public Relations is all around us on a everyday basis and used in the media. Ethics is very important and has a big impact .
