Weekly Challenge 14

What is Earth Science?

For me Earth Science is everything around us in the earth, It studies about our Oceans, the environment and as well as the problems we encounter in the earth. It also studies about how certain things arrived and originated. It also talks about how can we fix the problems in our environment and what caused it. Earth Science uses the resources of chemistry, physics, geography, biology and as well as mathematics. Earth Science also studies on the impact of humanity on the Earth’s environment whether good or bad the result is. It talks about our atmosphere, biosphere and lastly the hydrosphere. Earth Science also helps in the research on improving society for example they provide us knowledge about Typhoons, Earthquakes and as well as volcanic eruptions. Basically earth science is about being concerned for our environment and make it a better place to live in be a cleaner and not a polluter in society that is Earth Science. At this point in life this  I just want to thank Sir. William Robert Yasi for teaching us Earth Science in this 1st semester here at Senior High we had some good times and I will never forget what you taught us, you are an inspiration to many.

Weekly Challenge #12

                  The worst weather related experience that I have encountered was Typhoon Yolanda because the storm lasted for days and we even had no electricity for almost 2 days back then because there was one of the post that was brought down due to the storm. The flooding in our village was serious the water rose to our front gate and up to inside our house that was a serious case in which our family was very scared, the good thing about it was no one got hurt. We could here the loud roaring of thunder that made my brother and sister scared. The aftermath of the storm was we learned our lesson we put up new drainage system for the water. We also had the mindset to have spare candles as well in case our flashlights had problems or they don’t have enough charges in every calamity that we encounter don’t forget to hope for the best.

Weekly Challenge #11

Structural Analysis Questions.

A. During construction, how did you test the strength and stability of your structure?

              We tested our buildings by putting not so heavy materials like stones on top and we shaked the surface of the building which is the base in circular motion to show its strength and if it falls we would do the building all over again or modify its weakest parts.

B. During construction, what strategies did you use to strengthen the weaker areas? Why?

              The strategy that we used to strengthen the weaker areas was just simple we had to put paper clips so make sure they were strong enough and then we noticed the base was weak so we had to do an X form to the base to make them firm enough to withstand the earthquake.

C. What are the strongest parts of your building? Why?

                The strongest part of our building was the base because we ensured that it was the most strongest part of our building because if it was the weakest part then the building would have fell easily by then. It was the strongest part because it had double locks from the pins and it had support from the formed “X” from the straws that we used.

D. What are the weakest parts of your building? Why?

                The weakest part of our building was probably the 2nd floor of our building because we had a shortage of straw and did not put proper supports on it we just secured it with the paper clips and as well as the pins. It had the 2 “X’s” but despite that it was not strong enough. In addition our 2nd floor was not done well and was messy, maybe the paper clips are loose and not fastened well.

E. Where did you use string in your structure? Why?

               The string was used for flooring in order for the weights to sort of be secured because we thought of the idea of a “Swing” to not make them fall off we just secured them on the string and we believed that it will not fall anymore due to the usage of our string.

F. Where did you use pins in your structure? Why?

                 We used the pins in holding the strings in place to not make them loose so that the weight would not fall, secondly we used the pins on the bases of our building to ensure security we used them to hold on to other parts of the building to ensure its strength. We made sure the 20 pins was of use to double the security of our building. G. If you had 5 more straws, where would you add them? Why?

                 If we had 5 more straws then we would simply add them on 2 on the 1st floor to have 4 “X’s” on support on the 1st floor and 2 on the 2nd floor to also add to make 4 “X’s” for support in the 2nd floor then we would use the last straw for the flooring on the 2nd floor to provide of somewhat a support on our strings in case of anything goes wrong.

Weekly Challenge 9

This challenge is about a region that contains ridges, valleys, springs, rivers, wells, and small towns. There are also several farms, a dairy, and a number of industrial sites. The water in the region is contaminated and we are asked to examine who polluted the water. So here are my investigations: 

Basically my assumption on the said surface it is somewhat like of a valley its water is flowing from right to left as observed in the picture because on the most right side part is somewhat like an uphill where the water came from up until the most left side which is the water will pass on. As the river comes from the top it still clean as it comes down it now slowly becomes dirty and intoxicated with pollutants like chemicals from factories and the like.

 Cornhead coal mine is one of the main polluters in the river because of the coals that they produce. There are said rumors that there are incidents that they do not report when there is a chemical spillage. The coal power plant and the midnight coal mine is a factor also in polluting the river water and easily contaminating the river of Kellogg because the power plant brings chemicals that is air born and has a chance to go to the water to make it polluted as for the mining area it is simply because of the procedure that deals with mining that makes it polluted.  S1,M I are both  elevated and  and  are aligned with the Sinkerton Limestone it has a great possibility that contaminated water may flow towards to S1.

The bottom part of the river is contaminated as well because of the wells  D, N, D, E, I, and M. Because the wells D and H are located close to the Metal works that basically causes pollution coming from their products which are metals that deals with toxic material  and another factor is Walt’s farm because of its agricultural system it uses irrigation and chemicals are after brought down to the river now.  Since H and D are located above gravel it is possible contaminated waste flowed through from H to D since H has higher mg/L than D. Then E is Slightly contaminated because of Earl’s Fuel Depot.

The lower parts of the valley are most likely will be aquifers because they are composed of Basin Fill which aquifers are also composed of. And for me, wells G, K, L, O, and P will remain free from contamination.

Weekly Challenge 10

Basically for almost 10 years now I have been playing the computer for almost everyday and sad to say this is a bad habit that I need to fix so for my one thing, I would like to lessen or better yet only use the computer for research purposes only because it has highly affected my life over these past years and it made me prone to procrastination. The computer is also a contributor to pollution in this world so that is also one of the reasons that I want to change my life. Basically the computer influenced me over the past years and I became addicted to it which is a bad doing. At this point in life, I am proud to say that I have been doing good in the said change because despite the temptation to play with my friends and relieve the stress , it is almost a month that I have not played DOTA in a while,  and  I am planning to continue this change.

Weekly Challenge #8

                Basically the earth does not have unlimited natural resources, so we as the users of these resources need to be aware of the circumstances of shortages. As of now the most important natural resources that is needed by our body which is the water is experiencing shortages. In my experience taking a bath is very fast and basically almost everyday it only takes around about 15 scoops or maybe less, I feel totally fine that we lessened our scoops in taking a bath because we can conserve water by doing this. I can do this for a long period of time because even when the weekly challenge didn’t come up I still bathed in a limit. We have to limit ourselves and start thinking of the outcome on the wastes that we have done because the resources in this world are limited. We have to consider the fact that in one blink of an eye everything can change, we have to change our bad habits and think of the future ahead of us. Thousands have lived without love but not without water.

Cebu Farmers Market Appreciation!

Last August 6, 2016 me and my classmates attended a cooking demo to help the Cebu Farmers Market. I met a lot of new friends and I also tasted the first chef cook whom by the way is a master chef coming from the UK. His dish was  vegetarian dish so I did not highly appreciate it. All in all it was a fun experience and a memorable one. #cfmsupportlocal

Weekly Challenge No. 6

 You were given a sizeable piece of land by your wealthy uncle (20-hectares) Upon checking you realized that your land has the following features.

1.) It is highly arable (good for agriculture)

2.) It is rich in mineral deposits

3.) It is found in a prime area (good for commercial use)

4. It has a fresh, clean river running through it.

If I were given this vast amount of land, given by my uncle I would first use 5 hectares of my land for farming crops and vegetation to maintain livelihood in the vicinity and as well as to till the soil and produce an Eco-friendly environment. Then I would use about around 3 hectares for mining for this would lead to an advantage in which I can obtain minerals coming from beneath the earth but will also highly affect the environment around it for it can create or is prone to erosion especially soil erosion so I will place my mining area far from the farming grounds in order to avoid conflict. Now the centerpiece is for making A 5 hectare amusement park fully equipped with rides and personnel. In this manner I can make tons of money just by the amusement park, in addition I would also like to build a 4 hectare village near the amusement park equipped with villas and condo’s for an extravagant stay at my place this will increase the growth in money that I earn, in Addition and based on my understandings there is a 3 hectare river running down my land this is an addition to the Amusement park where they can ride a somewhat river safari based on the river. I will improve the river and use it to gain free access to clean water in the vicinity to lessen the production cost. This would be a big investment when this comes true and hope fully the business will bloom.

Weekly Challenge #5           

          If I were to describe the strongest attribute in me  as a certain quality of a rock it would be its Streak. I am like a streak because I can leave a mark in your life. It maybe Temporary or it may still be their for a long period of time it doesn’t matter. For me being friendly and touching ones life is the best experience to do because you can always be treasured by your friends. I am like a streak because I leave marks, I leave my friends and families with a smile whenever I may see them and I make sure to make them happy. I can make memories with people whether Good or bad and leave them with impressions that are true to me and not be blinded by lies.

           If I were to describe the attribute that do not describe me at all it would be the Color because a color can only help you distinguish or know the thing or person on the outsides appearance and not truthfully. It is merely a deception or the cover of ones truth. I am practically bullied by my color but once you get to know me I am a fun person to be with regardless of the color. I love what I am and who I am and I am not planning to change what I am just to fit in this characterized society. This is just merely the outside structure of what is me and only composed of around a small percentage of my body, I my self know that I am fun to be with because almost all of my friends appreciate me regardless the jokes.

    So basically the mineral is  naturally made metal alloys of varying durability, but all are nearly indestructible. It possesses the ability to absorb all vibrations in the vicinity as well as kinetic energy directed at it.The energy absorbed is stored within the bonds between the molecules that make up the substance. As a result, the more energy vibranium absorbs the tougher it becomes. This is  rumored to be the "metal of the Gods," the metal is used to make Barons' mace, which was capable of repelling the force inflicted on it by John Snow’s Spear.

Spheres of the Earth

As I have observed the past days my greatest contribution to the Earth is by throwing garbage at proper places because if I had thrown it everywhere the water will be contaminated, land will maybe be destroyed as well as the atmosphere. Lives of people and animals will be affected and can or will lead to death. The negative traits I do mostly is playing computer games most of the time because computers can damage the earth and can also harm us people. I am also guilty to the practice of sometimes destroying the environment by doing things which are harmful to the environment.

I can continue my positive deeds in making the earth into a better place by simply having a mindset to save man kind and all of its wonders by just simply putting one trash at a time into a trash bin and also to use the three R’s. Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle to help save the earth. I can also use fart to release Carbon dioxide into the atmosphere to help make plants grow. My negative traits should be lessened because it can add the cause to the death of our mother earth. I will play less hours of Computer and as much as possible only use it for research or learning purposes. I will manage my time and not procrastinate.

Senior high in the first month is very spontaneous, I am adjusting to the schedule because our house is very far from the school. I live in Compostela so I have to wake up earlier than usual in order for me not to be late. In school the 1st week of class was only with my friends and the class was not too loud, but then as the 2nd week came we were mostly united and I had a lot of new friends, we jammed, we played and we did different things together. I think now I memorized all of my Block mates names. Block N is really fun and happy to be with it gives me a motivation to go to school and study hard also because of my parents Teachers, friends and seatmates they give me a reason to wake up every day to start it with a smile. milk :)

We all know that the Universe is vast, we also can not determine its end. What makes me special? I am Me and no one else can be Me. I am only one and I don’t have a replica that can replicate my physical appearance and actions. I am a human being as well as a human person, I have emotions that can feel many things. I am able to love and feel loved, and I can make rational decisions. I am not just a normal person, I am a man that has the capability to change the earth to make it a better place to live in for everyone.
