I set up a proper way for us to rate books, and fixed all our star ratings on storygraph and goodreads. it was satisfying :>

There is a balance between "you don't have to separate from source" and "if source is hurting you, then maybe it's best to step away".
No, no one should force you to separate from source. If it's not causing you any issue, then why separate?
But sometimes source can hurt you. If source is distressing you, for any reason, then it might be best to take a step back. That doesn't mean you have to separate yourself completely - maybe you just need to stay away from fandom for a bit, maybe you need to take a break from any media around your source. And maybe completely distancing yourself, and separating, is the answer.
We found this really helpful in realising one of our headmate's connection to source wasn't healthy. While it was no longer an issue for him when we read it, it has still been really helpful in recognising that it was harmful at one point, and that we need to have a strategy in case it happens again.

I've heard of some systems planning switches in advance, which sounds crazy to us. We've tried to do it but it never really works. The closest we've gotten is when a headmate makes it clear they don't want to front for a certain event/activity, but we never really plan who will front instead. It's just sort of whoever wants to be there in the moment
sometimes switching is someone wanting to come to front and organising the switch and other times it's just "oh I'm here now... why...?"
