January 26-29, 2017 - Dirty 30 Birthday Celebration in Nashville 

If you tell anyone you’re planning to visit Nashville, you’ll get a long list of recommendations. I only had a weekend to pack everything in and celebrate the 30th birthdays of my 1987 girlfriends. Here’s the skinny...

Honky Tonks: 

Favorite: Legends Corner (For someone who isn’t into country music, the bands here played a wide range of enjoyable music styles. This place also had the most space to dance.) 

Tootsie's Orchid Lounge (Three Floors. The first two floors are packed and overcrowded. The top floor is more spacious with a heated open deck section.) 

Robert's Western World (This place is cramped, smelled like fried food, and the bartender service is SLOW.) 

Being Tourists: 

Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum (Worth the trip and price. I didn’t use an audio guide because there is so much reading and listening already available in this museum. No food or drinks allowed inside. Free coat check.)

Best way to tour and booze around Nashville: Off The Wagon Tours - Nashville Party Wagon (Their slogan is “We don’t pedal. We Party.” BYOB party wagon if you have a great group, this is a fun way to wander the streets of Nashville with a beverage in your hand.) 

Good Eats:

Delicious Nashville Hot Chicken: Hattie B's Hot Chicken (This place was WORTH the long wait in line. This is the best hot chicken I’ve ever had. I’m pretty good with hot food, and was worried about the heat. I ordered Medium level spice and was satisfied. I can probably handle Hot, but didn’t want to die on this trip. Someone ordered “Shut The Cluck Up” and could not finish his meal. The Potato Salad was a good choice to keep my tongue cool.)

Hipster Dinner: The Treehouse Restaurant (They took our reservation for 14 people and we were given a nice area to enjoy cocktails and wait for our table. The atmosphere of this restaurant was very inviting. The meals were not filling for the men, but they were delicious. We recommend adding some shared family style plates if you are hungry.)

Good but Fast Food in downtown: Jack's Bar-B-Que (For wonderful, falling off the bone ribs, go here. There is extra seating upstairs.) 

Great Sports Bar & Arsenal Supporters Location: 

Fleet Street Pub (I’m an Arsenal Fan, and this is an Arsenal Supporters Bar, Home of the Nashville Gooners. The environment is friendly, but I was also there for a marvelous 5-0 victory, so I was there on a good day.) 

Getting Around

Nashville is a Ride-share/Uber Friendly Town. They have safe areas to pick up your Uber. Even the airport had signs that direct you to the Ride-sharing pickup spot. They’ve embraced the world of ride-sharing.
