Hot take but if you're German and complain that US military bases on German soil is Germany being a victim of American imperialism, and you describe the US-Germany relationship as that of conqueror and conquered, you don't get to complain about the rise of AFD. Bestie the call is coming from inside the house.
#reminder from your fav polish Jew that those bases are there because#you Germans couldn't behave yourselves in the 1940s#America has much to be criticized for but this is not one of them

It did my heart some good to come across this.

It was also pleasant (and unsurprising) to see how warmly and thoroughly these questions were received and answered by the r/Judaism community.
There are decent people of all backgrounds and all faiths.
#dear muslims‚ you guys are my bros okay#nothing you can do about that 🩷#your religion is cool I'm envious that you get to have dairy with meat

Twice in one week man
Not including the people who told me they keep kosher and were strict and I was like cool, I'm Jewish and keep kosher, they kept giving me mixed signals on whether or not they were actually strict because they were concerned about the hechsher for the milkshakes but not the chicken, and then I said the fries are cooked in tallow and they said they weren't very good with avoiding besar b'chalav even though they were concerned about enzymes two minutes ago
Now the guy was wearing one of those christian fish shirts so I was like aww not a real Jew,
Then I was like okay, just so you know those chicken tenders have Parmesan cheese in them so...
And they were like fuck and to their credit they didn't eat them and gave them back and didn't ask for a refund but still...
I shouldn't gatekeep since I am not the strictest with keeping kosher but fuck it I'm gatekeeping if you're gung-ho for jesus

I'm stuck at my grandma's house and all she does is watch CNN all day and today's Jewish issue is Trump using the term shylock
"No death tax, no estate tax, no going to the banks and borrowing from, in some cases, a fine banker, and in some cases, shylocks and bad people,"
I think my issue is more that CNN just interviews Republican Jews on their opinions and they defend trump while bringing up other antisemitic issues and why do I feel like it implies that if you believe antisemitism is a problem then it means you're probably right wing complaining about the left.
Maybe I'm overthinking
My personal opinion is I don't give a shit, and why are they making this a story since it just makes the actual fight against antisemitism look stupid and insignificant.

I wish I could do what everyone else does and blame my problems on the Jews but that would mean that I'm in some way blaming myself, and I have never been to blame for anything wrong ever in my life

So I see yom yerushalayim is like polish independence day where all the nationalist fucks make a scene
Hatred begets hatred
To me if you believe you are fighting for the Jewish people but use the same tactics of hate that the extremists use on us, you are the same as those extremists, and you just happen to be Jewish.
speaking of moral clarity, rejecting extremism, and condemning fringe, harmful actions:

this is unacceptable and it gets broadcast around the world as evidence despite the fact that it does not reflect Israel, Israelis, Jews, or Judaism.
if we condemn Hamasniks for their violent extremism, we must also condemn this, and we must be concerned about young men feeling empowered to do this.

this is not a celebration of Jerusalem, it’s a desecration.

I am upset and concerned by the growing reticence to call this stuff out. ignoring it doesn’t make it go away. I know we’re vulnerable. I know we’re a tiny minority. unfortunately, due to both pervasive antisemitism and the small size of the Jewish community, outsized focus is given to bad actions, by the media and by those intent on weaponizing it.
that truth does not diminish the need to condemn this, but rather makes it more of an imperative. to say this is not us. this is not what we stand for. no matter your level of observance or belief, your political views, this is not reflective of our community and our values, our spirit.
I can’t help but remember Hersh (and I still think of him daily):

he’s not here to make the change. help to do it in his memory.
#as Yoda said#fear leads to anger#anger leads to hate#and hate leads to suffering#jumblr#j#i/p#islamophobia

I refuse to take anyone's opinion on Israel seriously when they represent the same country a certain mustached failed postcard painter came from

I don't even get how this person thinks this would even work. just imagine if you were staying in a hotel someone asked you if you committed war crimes and let's say the answer was "yes I burned down four hundred orphanages and murdered 700 people personally in cold blood", do you think anyone would casually admit to that?
I'm trying to apply logic to stupidity... My bad

I know this rabbi who is genuinely delightful to have a conversation with because he just says the most unhinged things like they’re fact, and doesn’t explain himself.
Me- So… Rav David. What’s with gay people in Judaism?
Rav David (happily married to his wife with children) - I’m up for reinterpreting the Halacha to make same sex relationships the only acceptable ones
Me- Did you hear about the law Oklahoma just passed ?
Rav David- I don’t believe Oklahoma has the right to statehood. Neither does Rhode Island, but that’s a separate issue
Me- Jeez- the government wants to cancel Jewish American history month!?
Rav David- we should just abolish the concepts of months altogether- Jewish and secular. There’s no reason for them.

My whole life I have been a major football fan and have watched the FIFA world cup every single time
So Eurovision controversy over what countries should be allowed to participate based on political morality or whatever is fucking hilarious to me
Like North Korea is part of the Women's World Cup and lost to the United States in 2012
Being corrupt is practically a requirement for a nation to host
It just makes me laugh
Heh
#im of the mindset of let any country participate or european or adjacent country in the case of eurovision#because like these things bring people together and thats what the world needs#even if its just to sing dumb songs or play football

It's eurovision this week!
Reminder that Yuval Raphael is not the Israeli government. Any hate towards her is at best xenophobia and at worst antisemitism. It is not criticism of Israel as she is not the government of Israel.
You can have conversations on whether or not israel should be allowed compete without veering into bigotry.
