Like, I guess no one call call you basic if you call yourself basic but that is still SO lame. You GOTTA rename that shit."

"It's going to really disappoint you that I didn't name the badge."

He adjusts the collar of his shirt, watching her have her fit, before he folds his arms across his chest.

"It's the League standard name - I inherited it from someone else. ...I think it's clever, at the very least, judging by how it's gotten you into a riot."

@skullkxd replied: “The gambling kind,” they say, as if that’s obvious, before holding the box up. “There’s three flavors of cookies in here. Some are good. Some are bad. One is REALLY bad.” A pause. “Maybe they’re all good … or maybe they’re all bad. I dunno, I mixed them up.”

"Huh. What's the really bad flavor?"

His curiosity is piqued enough to try it. If it's really bad, he'll pass it off to one of his more adventurous students to share with their friends.

As it is, he's fishing his wallet out to trade Ree the required amount for the box in his hands.

"Did you bake all of these?"

“Hello neighbor.” They are reading off of a clipboard. “Do you enjoy helping out your community? If so, I have a deal for you. Introducing, skull scouts.” They hold up a box of cookies in their other hand. “We are a nonprofit community using the money you donate to enrichen the lives of those less fortunate. Would you like to buy a box of Skull Roulette cookies for the mere price of ten dollars?”

"Oh?"

Cheren arches his brows at the offer, looking at the box of cookies, before he looks to them. Wasn't that....?

Well. How interesting to meet such a famous face like this.

"I suppose there's no harm in trying them. What kind of 'roulette' is it?"

PUBLIC V PRIVATE INFO.

public - this is known to basically anyone, or found out very easily.

Cheren is known as one of the three trainers that took on Team Plasma initially, alongside Bianca and Hilda. The specifics of his involvement are foggy, but it is known that he was one of the trainers at the forefront.

He hails from Nuvema Town, but has since moved to Aspertia City and become a Gym Leader. Here, he serves as a teacher for the Trainer School located in the same city as well.

He eventually returned to complete the Elite Four and the Champion challenge during the years that Hilda was absent, in order to qualify for ranking as a Gym Leader, taking the Basic Badge on Lenora's blessing after she stepped away from the gym.

Cheren maintains a record of information on local Unovan Pokemon for studying at the school and shares it with the professor and Bianca.

He's a major player in the Sync Study on Pasio, taking time away from the gym in the off-season to work with Professor Bellis.

Used to wear glasses and swapped to contacts after becoming a Gym Leader. There was an entire Gymquirer article about it.

Though his signature Pokemon is Stoutland, his tightest bond is with his Serperior, which doesn't see as much action as she used to.

Tends to take time to train in Victory Road, where he can be found and battled occasionally.

Cheren's Serperior was badly hurt during the final battles with Plasma, nearly killing her and rendering her unable to battle for a long period of time. Cheren ended up badly ill after the battles due to being synced with her at the time. This incident drew his attention to the Sync Study that had started not terribly long afterwards.

He still studies the patterns of Team Plasma and keeps in the loop about current proceedings regarding the members that were still out there. He initially started this when Hilda disappeared, until she reached out to tell him she was okay, but needed time.

In the years before becoming a Gym Leader, he had a close encounter with Cobalion while searching for his reason for wanting to become stronger. This incident spurred him to look into the legendary Pokemon of Unova, though this research is deeply personal and not shared with many around him.

HERDIER AND LILLIPUP. a herdier and a collection of lillipup that live around the gym. cheren uses them for lower leveled gym battles.

This is an independent roleplay blog for RIVAL / GYM LEADER CHEREN of POKEMON. Primarily headcanon-based, but lore based on the games, with some influences from pokespe.

While Pokemon is typically a light-hearted series, much of my worldbuilding and characterization is taken from talking with friends about the world-building present in the manga and our own world-building. As such, heavy themes will likely be present, including grief, death, the weight of responsibility, and the nonlinear path of healing.

My rules are very simple: don't be an asshole to me out of character and we'll probably vibe! Don't be weird! If there's a problem of some kind, by all means, feel free to approach me about it.

Things not tolerated are homophobia, transphobia, racism, and other such acts of indecency. If I see it, I will block you and blast you in public for everyone to see.

I roll dice to determine outcomes for roleplay & often use D&D mechanics. If this is a problem, this is not the blog for you!
