one of my favorite little pjsk jokes lost in translation

Akito and Kohane Trust Rank Title 2 : Hammie & Feigned Innocence

this joke got totally lost in translation lol, for context the original title in jp is ハムハムと猫被り (hamuhamu to nekokaburi), essentially meaning hamham & nekokaburi.

the literal translation of nekokaburi is "to put on a cat" which, obviously, did not translate well. it is a japanese equivalent to the phrase "wolf in sheep's clothing", essentially.

the term stems from feral street cats tricking you with their cuteness. to "put on a cat" is to put on an innocent face when you're actually not quite so pleasant lol

so hamham/hammie isn't just random, because in this context they are comparing akito to a cat and kohane to a hamster! while the meaning of the word was conveyed, the joke of it got lost lol

I love Shizuku's story bc... she's just stupid!!!! She's just a stupid clumsy loving grandma who tries her best despite her airheadedness and wants to be someone people can rely on. But then everyone wants her to be perfect!!! Everyone expects so much from her just because she's beautiful!! But that's not who she is!!!!! Yet the more she tries to fit into people's perception of her the more she upsets people. She questions what she's even doing. Until she finds friends who stick with her even after learning she's not perfect!! They let her be stupid and make mistakes, and even if they laugh they still admire her. They even think she's cool, a natural idol, someone deserving of where she is. They make her love herself in all her stupid 0 braincell beauty. And I think that's wonderful.

some project sekai fans would have a much more interesting time interacting with the game if they simply understood that friendships also have an inherent value !!

like yeah, okay, the mizuena "i want to be with you" sounds romantic. sure. whatever. but why does that have to be romantic? why can't we have in depth discussions about what the simple act of having a friend means for both mizuki and ena? why does it have to be "i want to be in a romantic relationship with you" and not "i want you to remain my dear friend because you reshaped my view of the world"? or for mizuki, "i want you to stay my friend because you make me feel like i deserve to have a friend"?

yeah, minori has a crush on haruka, we all know that. but why does minori's character have to be watered down to a haruka simp? why does it have to be "i love you because i'm in love with you" and not "i love you because you made me realize that i can be something more than the bad luck i was given"? or for haruka, "i love you because you love me enough to see past the idolized vision you had of me in your head"?

akito and toya covered aun no beats during pride month but why why why can't we focus on something other than the fact that they're gay. why can't it be "i trust you more than anything because you are the reason i'm the person that i am today"? why not "if not for you i would have given up a long time ago"?

or rui and tsukasa? "thank you for giving the opportunity to change" is just so. so so important. why should it be strictly romantic and not "i love you because you shook everything up and i'm no longer stagnating and alone"? "you made me realize that i have to consider that other people care for me and that i impact them"?

i feel like this isn't such a problem with leo/need because they're so underrated (at least in the western fandom) and since their dynamic is FOUNDED on friendship specifically, but i still want to see less of "ichisaki and shihonami lesbians" and more of "they know each other so well that they are practically extensions of each other" and "they love each other so much that they are always worried that they're hurting the others".

please for 1 second think that maybe shipping isn't the end all be all of relationships. maybe they don't have to be kissing, maybe they can just know and love and understand each other.

like for me personally i feel like a little bit after leoneed gets together ( you could take this as in main story or when they get togethwr as polyneed ) ichika is really nervous to ask for any type of physical affection so she just savors it when she can. i feel like it probably gets her choked up sometimes since its so alien to her after years of not having it…

saki craves physical affection in the way she’s been handled in the hospital with needles and stuff for so long she yearns for anything but that feeling. unlike ichika she usually initiates it tho

honami. AUFGHHHhonami they coukd never make me hate you. she had friends in middle school and sure they touched her sometimes but all of it felt so fake to her. she craves the sincerity of being held by leoneed over anything else. the feeling of being loved unconditionally

shiho is mostly portrayed as not being the biggest fan of physical touch ( in the earlier stories ) and i like to think that part of it comes from how she viewed herself. she hated the idea of letting someone that close to her heart, so she started to detest physical affection. she thought she didn’t deserve it. as in canon she opens up over time and starts to get more comfortable with it again
