Five years ago today, I was stressing over my final essay of my nursing degree and revising for my final exam of my nursing degree. Little did I know that in 6 days time I would be loosing my mum.

They say time heals, but we have to remember that we all experience grief differently and sometimes it will hit us out of nowhere.

Prompt 30 - Calming Draught

Remus was in a panic. He was sure he was going to fail all his N.E.W.T.’s. He couldn’t remember anything. He had multiple textbooks open in front of him as he furiously scribbled down what he thought might be on the test. It was no good the information wasn’t going in. He could feel himself start to hyperventilate. Suddenly, Sirius was beside him, wrapping him in a tight hug, forcing him to calm down. 

“Here, I brewed you something.” Remus took the tiny vial out of Sirius’s hand. It wasn’t labelled. 

“What is it?” He asked, turning it in his hand. 

“A Calming Draught.”

“Sirius, I don’t have time. I need to study.” He tried to break out of Sirius’s grasp so he could pull his history of magic book towards him, but Sirius was determined. 

“Love, you need a break. You drink that, and we’ll go upstairs. We can cuddle while I read you one of those muggle books that you love so much.” Remus was tempted. He chewed his lip as he deliberated.

He uncorked the vial and downed the sweet potion. Immediately, his body relaxed, and his mind quieted. He allowed his dark-haired sweetheart to lead him up to the dorms and enjoyed a quiet afternoon snuggled into Sirius’s side as the other boy read him his favourite book and stroked his hair.
