“On this day, the Holy Apostles were clothed in the Force from on high. What kind of force is that? A force stronger than any earthly force, a force stronger than sin, a force stronger than death, a force stronger than the devil, a force stronger than hell. What the Holy Apostles experienced today is no longer extinguished in them. The Twelve and others with them, scattered all over the world, and that same Holy Spirit, those fiery tongues, are distributed to every human being who believes in the Lord Jesus. And the Holy Spirit, brothers, became the soul of the Church of Christ.
Behold, the Lord became incarnate, the Lord took the body upon Himself, and He descended into that body, into the Church of Christ, which is the body of Christ, the Holy Spirit descended (Eph. 2:16–22; 4:36)—that divine soul of the Church, and gave it omnipotence. And just as our body lives with the soul, so the Church of Christ lives with the Holy Spirit—with her soul. Both the Holiday and the event that began on this day do not end in any way, and are being present for two thousand years. Because, what is the Church of Christ? The Church of Christ is an uninterrupted Spiritual Day, an uninterrupted Feast of the Holy Spirit. One cannot be a Christian and become a Christian if the Holy Spirit does not descend on him, if the Holy Spirit does not enter the human being, if the Holy Spirit does not sanctify him, revive him, renew him, transform him.”
—St Justin Popovic, On Trinity Sunday – Pentecost
Spoken at Monastery Celije, 1965
