Hello, dear readers. It’s Creebs here, with some sad news- for you see, as the Obelisk (ALL HAIL) giveth, the Obelisk (ALL HAIL) taketh away. For sadly, Battlikinan has left us, much in the same manner that she appeared- with a flash of darkness and a loud ‘wop’ noise. She will always be remembered, and shall live on forever in our hearts.

Now let’s talk about fandoms.

Recently, one of my friends found themselves watching the series finale of a show they’d grown quite fond of, Vampire Diaries. As much as they insisted that the show wasn’t something much akin to Twilight, I myself never bothered with the show as they won’t even read a simple Bawrao post, much less step foot in Tumblr. Now, this friend of mine was explaining all the minute details of the ending of this show, and I, like anybody else being introduced to somebody else’s fandom, was having trouble following. It all seemed so far fetched, so bizarre, so illogical. After 10 consecutive minutes of her rambling, I attempted to inform her that it was only 8:00 in the morning and that it was much too early to be attempting to socialise with me, only to realise that I was unable to actually get a word in through the constant string of lexemes she sprayed out of her mouth. This forced silence on my behalf proved to be for the good, however, as it encouraged me to sit and meditate on my own fandoms, and the ridiculous plots that I’ve come to accept as normal (by now I was just imagining her eyes and mouth with switched places, any similarity to language with what she was saying was long gone). I’d come to simply accept the prospect of somebody’s nemesis being turned into a cyborg that serves the KGB, then takes over the KGB, who later porked the protagonist’s girlfriend (who had also died and was turned into a cyborg by another character) and teamed up with said cyborg girlfriend who was originally a double agent for the KGB, but then the first cyborg got trapped on a space station and during that the other cyborg took over the KGB instead and now instead of resolving it the next season of the show is exclusively about selling a massive drug stockpile. The idea of somebody being their own mom whilst being raised by several other moms such as Triangle Mom, Square Mom, Bird Mom, Sister Mom (etc), for whatever reason, felt tame to me. The mere fact that I existed in a place as dark, sinister and warped as Bawrao had escaped me. I had grown numb. And I understood what she meant.
