riiiight but romani people still aren't black????? so what even is your argument? if you're looking for Romani representation then they'd be more at chance for representing countries such as Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia, Serbia, and Hungary which all have the higher Romani percent - but this argument would only be valid if a vote was rigged in the national competition that purposely undermined a Romani submission - and yeah.. that would be unfair and cruel. And this is NOT the case for Claude, nothing about his skin colour has challenged his ability to make it through to the final... (as in he still got votes in semis) (shoutout to the Iceland artist with both greenland and faroe flag in their video!) Second I did not disregard that "racism doesn't exist" but i disregard your statement that "because theres only one person of colour in eurovision = europe is racist". Racism is going to be felt different across different nations whilst in Western Europe it may be more normal or safer whilst in east europe the perspective is different (though previously there was a poc for Ukraine) - and of course the variant of slurs that might be hurled in different languages. I cannot summarize one entire overlay that can describe the experience of all poc in Europe, however Majority of Europeans watching Eurovision AREN'T even going to THINK about artists skin colour or not - we are more likely to insult our neighboring countries, outfit choices or if a song is a flop or not... My point about the Americans is hurled only because I think there is a large divide on what the European perspective is on the topic of race actually is in comparison. Its not something we think about at face value unlike americans who are more dictated by race (with reason, see history) I understand. but it is different. very different. But i feel like your argument is inputting American social perception into a sphere that isn't necessary....

not like... europeans are mostly ethnically white.... thus will surprisingly ...be white... but unlike americans i think for most part if you speak the same language you are us... colour isn't something we first call out. Atleast watching Eurovision, colour isnt the first things that came to mind on forming opinions on the Netherlands entry.....
