———  not  once  in  his  life  had  barley  ever  claimed  to  be  a  graceful  man.  if  anything,  he  was  the  exact  opposite.  comotion  and  chaos  seemed  to  follow  wherever  he  went.  it  was  never  his  intentions  to  make  messes.  they  always  seemed  to  happen.

now  bumbling?  that  was  an  adjective  to  describe  barley  a  little  too  well.  the  elf  doesn't  remember  how  he  collided  with  the  ground.  a  misstepped,  a  loosened  shoe  lace,  truly  the  possibilities  were  endless.  regardless  of  how  it  happened,  barley  now  found  himself  face  first  on  the  grass.  shame  was  an  unknown  concept  to  him.  he  was  dusting  himself  off  as  if  nothing  happened.

❛  huh ?  oh  yeah !  we're  all  good  over  here.  just  falling  on  the  ground.  a  typical  tuesday,  yanno.  ❜

An open starter for Webby!

Moving to Elias was not apart of her plan in life and nether was almost losing her cousin Louie. In fact none of this was part of her plan in life. She figured that she would be stuck within her Uncle’s Mansion for the rest of her life staring at the counting how many dot were on the ceiling and how many cracks were on the floorboards.

But things are always changing, an unfortunate fact she learned later on in life. Learning about change was something she would have never expected.

Change was harsh, change could be cruel, but, it was something that always happened. It was just a fact of life.

Speaking of facts, she in fact had to grab a few more things for her house. Nothing outrageous, just a few simple things.

So off Webby went.

As the girl made her way out the door, she noticed someone struggling a bit. Fortunately or unfortunately for the passerby, It was in her nature to help others.

As Webby Rushed over to help, a look of concern appeared upon her the girl’s face.

“Is everything alright?!” She asked in a soothing manner.

———  ❛  see,  that's  what  i  thought.  they  say  practice  makes  perfect  and  i  think  i'm  gettin'  real  close  to  perfect  here !  ❜  a  bright  grin  danced  across  barley's  lips  at  the  compliment.  it  certainly  fluffed  his  ego  which  he  was  never  opposed  to.  it  nice  to  be  in  a  city  where  a  clean  slate  was  offered.  barley  could  just  be  himself  and  not  let  the  disappointment  son  title  follow  behind  him  like  a  shadow.  ❛  whoa,  whoa,  whoa  ...  pump  the  breaks  there,  buddy.  are  you  for  real?  ❜ barely's  hands  were  held  out  in  disbelief,  his  eyes  wide  to  match.  a  sword!  sure  he  was  more  of  a  magical  staff  kind  of  guy  but  who  was  he  to  deny  any  gift.  ❛  yeah,  for  sure !  i'll  be  so  careful.  super  careful.  you  know,  careful  is  actually  my  middle  name.  ❜  he  chuckled  to  himself.  ❛  oh,  thanks.  i  feel  like  if  you  work  in  a  comic  book  shop  you  gotta  be  able  to  tell  stories.  ❜

⟡.                           ────                           “  what can i say, you  have  the  technique  nailed  down to a t,  ”  florian  commented,  elbow  leaning  against  the  countertop;  exuding  an  aura  of  practiced  nonchalance.  the  scene  in  front  of  him  was  examined  with  a  watchful  gaze,  leaving  him  pleasantly  impressed.  sure,  the other's  stance  could  use  some  improvement,  but  he’d  encountered  trained  soldiers  with  a way worse  approach.  “  i  can  get  you  a  real  sword.  ”  he  paused,  the  corners  of  his  mouth  curling  up.  “  though you  have  to  promise  me  you’ll  be  extra  careful  with  the  pointy  edge  of  the  blade.  ”  at  the  latter  query,  florian’s  eyebrows  knitted  together.  “  i…  forgot.  huh.  proof of a great  storyteller, i reckon.  ”

A trip across the country to find a phoenix stone to bring their father back for a day is not the quest Barley dreamed of going on, but any quest, especially with his brother Ian, was a quest worth the time. The Lightfoot brothers' adventure led them to Elias. The Manticore tavern did not have the phoenix gem, but it did have a map to where the gem was locked. By the time the map was found, Barley had other things on his mind. Barley had made a name and a life for himself. In New Mushroomton, he was a loser, a disappointment. Ian's annoying older brother. In Elias, he was able to be someone he was proud of. He had a sweet gig working at the comic book shop. He also managed to get the attention of Miss Penelope Hainline. Barley in high school wouldn't believe his luck with that one. Life was good!  When Ian left to find the gem on his own, Barley was wounded. Ian couldn't see his side. He gave up so much of his life for his brother. He never regretted it, but now it was time to put Barley first. The brothers eventually healed their relationship and managed to find the gem. When the battle of Elias happened, Ian begged Barley to come home with him. It might have been a dumb idea, but Barley never claimed to have good ones, but he stayed in Elias. There was nothing for him in New Mushroomton. Elias was his home now, and he was going to stand beside it.  His time in the comic bookshop led him to discover the creation of the Underlands. Barley had hoped that Hades had died along with Maleficent. To know that he was still around boiled his blood. He had his resentment with the god of the dead after he almost killed his brother during his little monster tantrum. Barley felt helpless on how to help get rid of Hades. That is, until he learned about the renegades. Barley has played his fair share of D&D. He knows how to play a hero, but becoming one was a different story. He wasn't sure he had what it took to be part of something bigger, but he was about to find out.
