To whoever read More Than His Swords, I’m sorry I never came back to finish it, I was preoccupied with classes. I’m in the process of rewriting it because there’s a lot I don’t like after rereading it months later. I’ll update soon.
I’ve also been sitting on a few fanfics that I’ll post soon. I’ll make sure they’re completed before posting so no one has to wait 😔 I really hope you enjoy them and any feedback is very much appreciated.

Chapter 1 | Chapter 2
Chapter 3: Lover's Quarrel
The Straw Hats docked the ship on the far side of the island to avoid drawing attention to it. Then one by one they descended onto the island, with the exception of Jimbei who had drawn the short stick and was tasked with guarding the ship.
There were three mountains on the island: Giant’s Castle, Lion’s Head, and Devil’s Peak. Everyone began heading north towards Lion’s Head because the Willowing Den was located directly underneath.
Tumblr media
“Ahhhh it’s such nice weather today,” Nami plucked a coconut from a tree.
“Yes!! It’s been so long since we’ve seen a calm beach. It’s like the whirlpools don’t affect anything here,” Usopp noticed.
“Everyone, where’s Zoro?” Chopper asked.
“How the hell can anyone get lost on a straight path?” Sanji seriously wondered how Zoro managed by himself.
“Hoooy, Robin is missing too,” Nami wondered if there was a poneglyph on the island.
(cut to Zoro wandering off)
Why did the path cut off, that's a stupid decision by the villagers. You can't just cut off a path or people will get lost. Zoro knew deep down it was his own fault.
The island was filled with lush greenery, however, after walking a few hundred yards, Zoro's surroundings dramatically shifted. Instead of greenery he was surrounded with the widest color array of maple trees and life bringing wisteria vines.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Zoro couldn’t help but admire nature at that moment. The Grand Line had the most unpredictable and mysterious phenomena and its beauty was unmatched.
However, all the trees were proving to be a hassle for Zoro, especially once he reached bamboo. There were endless lines of bamboo that made it impossible to find a way through.
I guess I have to cut through all of this..
Ittoryu, one sword style!
Tumblr media
Zoro instantly created a 20 foot clearing and path for himself through the bamboo forest. He squinted to see what was at the end. After taking a few more steps forward he began to see water.
At the end of the bamboo forest lay a singular pond. Zoro pondered the length of its existence as he saw no water nearby. Upon reaching its opening Zoro bent down on his knees to pick up a lotus flower. He had not seen one since he was home.
Koushirou loved lotus flowers. I remember he filled the dojo with them and preached that they could grant us all purity of the body, speech, and mind, Zoro couldn’t help but smile at the thought of his old teacher.
Someone’s near, Zoro’s instincts kicked in as the wind picked up ever so slightly to his east. He could only ever really tell directions in a duel and his instincts were telling him one was happening near him.
Suddenly, and too quickly for him to react, a huge presence threw itself onto him from behind and pushed him into the pond.
Oh great, now my clothes are wet, Zoro thought to himself.
He quickly turned around, only to find you.
His breath hitched. You were one of the most breathtaking woman he had ever seen.
You were panting and bleeding on your forehead but that couldn’t take away from your natural beauty. Your (h/c) hair tickled Zoro’s nose and he couldn’t help but notice how soft it was. Zoro took in all of you at that moment. He memorized your body against his and your legs fit perfectly around his hips. You were wearing a green shirt with skin tight green pants and various brown buckles around your thigh. Your dark boots matched the cloak on your head.
Tumblr media
She must use a lot of knives, Zoro thought.
You also had a sword harness slung around your shoulder but the sword was noticeably absent from both it and your hand. Since he could not see your eyes his entire focus shifted to your luscious lips. Zoro's body grew hot.
“BAKA!! WHY DID YOU SHOVE ME INTO THE POND,” He rushed to push you off, embarrassed that you could feel every part of him.
But you weren’t listening.
Now, let's run it back to the moment when you ran into him:
SLAM!
Who is the oaf standing in the middle of a forest? You thought to yourself before he abruptly turned around.
Roronoa Zoro. You squinted your eyes. What was he doing here?
You couldn't take your eyes off of him. You vaguely remembered reading a passionate article declaring the return of the Straw Hat Pirates but you had rarely seen pirates arrive on this island. They avoided it like the plague.
You bit your lip. You were lucky you had your hood on or he would have seen how much you were staring at his body. He had the most beautifully sculpted body and his muscles enveloped you in the most perfect way.
You noticed a large scar over his left eye that you had not seen on his poster. You wondered how he got it and fought the urge to run your fingers over it. He had a few scars but the most eye drawing was the one across his chest. The one your hands happen to conveniently be resting on.
You suddenly didn’t care that your clothes were stalking to soak. You just held on enjoying feeling all of him on you. Your eyes looked into his and you saw him staring at your lips. Something suddenly twitched underneath you.
Suddenly, he pushed you off and said something. You didn't hear though because your ears were still ringing from your fall.
“HELLOO? ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING?” Zoro exclaimed.
You then suddenly realized the destroyed remains of the bamboo forest he had slashed.
“ARE YOU CRAZY? DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG WE’VE BEEN PLANTING AND TENDING TO THIS FOREST? THERE’S A PATH HALF A MILE FROM HERE,” You huffed. He had no respect for the efforts you and the villagers have put in.
Suddenly, you felt an attacker coming from the north. You shoved him aside and ran to grab your sword that had fallen a few yards away and you met your attacker as they entered the clearing.
So she’s trained, Zoro couldn’t help but be impressed as he was slow to feel the presence. He knew nothing was off with him so that only left the fact that you were truly a formidable force.
Standing facing you was Captain Tashigi. Her rank had increased during the two year timeskip and she had acquired a few skills. Not a lot of people could detect you, but she had caught you stealing from some of the G-5 marines earlier that day.
Ahh fuck. My gut told me to leave those marines alone. Could I really not help myself to the treasure they confiscated?
You met every slash she threw you at you and pushed her with incredible force into the air. You then proceeded to moonwalk and air slash her, pushing her to the far side of the forest.
When you descended, you turned halfway to acknowledge the green haired man looking at you in awe.
“Close your mouth.”
What? Zoro was stunned. “BAKA!! HOW DARE YOU? WHO EVEN ARE YOU?”
“Calm down. That’s not important.”
“YOU BUMPED INTO ME!!”
Zoro was bewildered by the woman standing before him. He had never seen your face before meaning you likely had no bounty. However, you were incredibly strong and could even use Geppo. That technique was not easily mastered and Sanji took two years to master it. All of this means you’ve been training. Zoro remembered his recent conversation with Usopp and stepped back tentatively.
You noticed Zoro's hands hover over his katanas.
“I’m not your enemy Roronoa Zoro. I’m actually on my way out of here.”
Your eyes met his for the first time and you felt his eyes burning a hole into you. You abruptly turned around and proceeded to walk away out of the clearing and into the path that was meant to be there.
“WAIT!” Zoro followed you into the path he had never seen before. Has this always been here? Also, why am I following her? And wait how does she get to know me but I don’t get to know her?
Suddenly, smoke surrounded you both and Vice Admiral Smoker appeared from thin air. He took a puff of his cigar and quickly pierced your leg with his seastone-tipped jitte.
You cried out in pain and your legs buckled. You used all of your strength to stay standing and alert for a second attack. As the wind picked up to your left, you felt the immediate presence of a certain swordsman who had unsheathed his katana and pushed Smoker back.
Zoro pushed Smoker further away and his sword met his jitte again. They began to duel violently.
You, on the other hand, found a tree to lean on as you laid your leg out to look at the wound. You winced in pain but were grateful it was not that deep. You took out some gauze you kept in your bra and wrapped your leg. After a few minutes, Zoro joined you panting.
His eyes met yours and you noticed how filled with concern they were.
“I’m fine. Don’t look at me like that.” You hated pity. You hated the fact that he had most definitely just saved your life and you hated the fact that now you felt like you owed him.
“No you’re not and I’m taking you to a doctor,” Zoro asserted himself. He understood being prideful but didn’t believe in hurting yourself for that reason.
Again, you felt another attacking presence. However, the hostile energy you were feeling changed. It seemed like whoever was watching backed off. Your stomach lurched. You knew exactly who it was.
Ughhhh, not today out of all days, you sighed. All it took was one run in with the world government for them to find you. You had been doing so well staying out of sight for the past month. You had also just secured yourself a sturdy ship off the island that you were planning to take tonight. Everything was going wrong.
All of that planning for nothing. You turned to Zoro who was staring at you with a peculiar focus.
“I assume you know someone was watching us,” He noticed the shift in your eyes and felt a tinge of concern.
Why do I care? Zoro was genuinely confused with how he was acting. He knew he didn't have to help you out but you reminded him of himself in some ways.
You sighed. “Yes. It’s not safe here. Let’s talk somewhere else.”
You held on to the tree to balance yourself and you attempted to stand. You winced as the pain shot through your right leg.
“Woah woah Woah!!” Zoro bent down and picked you up with a quickness. “You’re not thinking about walking on that are you?”
“I don’t need your help!” You huffed although your heart began beating really quickly and your face became hot. You beat his chest and pushed your face into it to hide your checks.
Why does he have to chivalrous? You were frustrated at the fact that you felt helpless and surrounded right now. You had no one to turn to and you didn't like the fact that it felt like you were putting your future in the hands of some random burly man. A handsome burly man but that didn't matter.
“Shut up! It’s great and all being prideful but sometimes it’s okay to ask for help.” Zoro coughed, “You know, after you apologize.”
Zoro felt his own face getting hot. He didn’t know where those words came from or how he came to be carrying you in his arms. All he knew was that he didn’t want to stop.
“You shouldn't have been standing in my way,” you looked up to him and laughed.
He looked down at you and raised an eyebrow. He was still mad at you for shoving him into the pond, but he held onto you tightly and let you lead the way.

Chapter 2: Where Would The Crew Be Without Nami

Tumblr media
Zoro awoke to the Thousand Sunny violent swaying and Chopper and Usopp’s piercing shrieks. The ship suddenly dipped sideways and Zoro immediately pierced his katana through the grass on the deck to ground himself.
Zoro looked around and noticed that everyone was on deck and Jimbei was no longer at the helm. Rather it was Franky and Nami desperately attempting to pull the ship out of a massive whirlpool that had appeared. Jimbei was standing outside the kitchen gripping Chopper who had begun to fly away.
“TURN BACK TURN BACK TURN BACK TURN BACK!!” Usopp shrieked.
“WEEEEEEE!!” Luffy screamed in delight.
Suddenly, a giant anchor draped itself over the side of the ship and began pulling it out of the whirlpool. Luffy ran to sit on the masthead for a closer look at the origin.
Zoro noticed a small ship, too small to be able to pull The Thousand Sunny out of the colossal whirlpool. As the ship pulled away from the whirlpool the crew’s faces filled with confusion.
“Who is that?” Usopp asked.
“How would we know? We’ve been with you this whole time.” Nami exclaimed, frustrated that her decision to go to sleep meant that her crew was unable to keep out of trouble.
“Except Luffy. He just jumped onto their ship.” Brook remarked.
“WHAAAT!! WHY CAN’T HE EVER WAIT? WHAT IF THEY TRY TO KILL US?” Nami had been extra worried because some of their bounties had just risen following their bout on the Sabaody Archipelago. That, of course, meant more enemies to be expected in the New World and other pirates had proven they could not always be trusted.
“Don’t worry Nami-Swaaaaaan! I’ll protect you!!” The lovesick cook shouted.
“Don’t worry everyone! They are not trying to kill us!” Luffy’s voice bellowed across the sea. Everyone turned to look at the small ship.
Zoro and Sanji quickly ran to join Luffy and jumped on the small boat. Everyone else waited until the ship pulled up to the boat and the anchor was removed. Zoro looked and saw the island of Madani in sight. The coast was littered with palm and coconut trees and standing in the center of their view was a lone Cyprus tree. It seemed rather peculiar but absolutely beautiful.
The crew gazed at the villagers collecting coconuts near the coast. However, the villagers retreated into the woods upon seeing the Straw Hat Pirates’ Jolly Roger.
Zoro then zeroed in to the two boys standing next to the anchor that had saved them. They both could not have been older than sixteen.
He noticed there was no automatic mechanism for their anchor, so it had seemed as if they pulled in The Thousand Sunny on their own.
“Everyone! This is Riku and Ren! They are from Madani and invited us for saké!” Luffy was jumping up and down in excitement for the food and drinks.
“Arigato!! We would have been sea king dinner if not for you guys,” Usopp exclaimed.
“How did you pull our ship?” Franky asked bewildered.
“Yeah, your boat is too small,” Zoro remarked. The two boys were giving him a bad feeling but he trusted his captain’s judgement.
“A lot of whirlpools appear near the island so we’ve had a lot of practice pulling ships out of them,” Ren responded.
“Yeah, we are glad you’re okay! Sometimes the ropes don’t like to hold up,” Riku chimed in with a big smile on his face.
Ren was about Usopp’s height, with short curly purple hair. He wore a dark blue t-shirt and black pants tucked into boots of the same color. He held a serious expression but cracked a smile when his eyes landed on Robin.
Riku, however, was much taller. You can tell he had a mane of black hair but he slicked it back, seemingly in an attempt to tame it. He donned sunglasses and wore no shirt; only brown shorts and sandals. His chest was surely chiseled but without the bulk.
They seemed like an unlikely pair but they, without a doubt, radiated strength.
“I’ve heard a lot about you straw hats! We've all been waiting for your arrival!” Ren exclaimed, cracking a smile. Zoro felt a tinge of cautiousness as this sort of welcome was rare.
“Sugoi!! You have three swords?!!” Riku stepped closer to Zoro to admire his swords. Zoro stepped back instinctively then remembered he was not hostile.
“Why doesn’t this island show up on the log pose?” Nami asked. It was obvious she was confused as to how they arrived there.
“The island hides its magnetic waves at random due to the whirlpools. Most pirates are swallowed by whirlpools before they reach the island,” Riku replied.
“Riku! We have forgotten that we have a family meeting we have to get to right now. Our mother is surely worried we’ve been out for so long.” Ren turns to the Straw Hats. “But let’s grab some saké later! You can meet us at the Willowing Den!”
“Sounds like a plan! You heard them crew!” Luffy commanded. The monster trio jumped off the tiny boat back onto the Sunny and the two boys drifted back towards the island with The Thousand Sunny in tow.

Chapter 1: Zoro Can Cut Anything, Apparently
Tumblr media
It’s finally dark, Zoro immediately noticed after waking up on the kitchen table to Dartboard Brow and Chopper cleaning.
“Marimo, you’re alive?!” The cook asked.
“Eh the saké you have is weak. I feel nothing.” Zoro groaned. He declined to comment on the fact that his body had not felt this tired in a while.
“What do you know? You don’t have taste.” Sanji knew he was lying and he was not about to let him insult the finest saké he had acquired from Water 7.
“How can I have taste when all your food is bland.” Zoro lied. He enjoyed pushing the ero-cook’s buttons.
“Enough!” An intoxicated Chopper shouted. “I don’t think I can patch anyone up tonight.” He hiccuped and stepped down from the stool he had been on cleaning dishes.
Chopper and Sanji soon left the kitchen and headed towards the boys’ room.
Finally, Zoro thought to himself.
He had been waiting for the crew to settle down so he could catch up on sleep. The day felt endless but that is what he loved about adventures. Everyone had left the kitchen following their banquet to rest, leaving Usopp and Zoro to take the first night watch.
Zoro stepped out onto the deck and closed his eyes. He loved the misty air against his skin and the salty smell of the water. He had never felt more at home. The sea may have been calm but it was still buzzing with its dormant strength. Zoro’s stomach lurched.
I guess the saké did hit me hard, Zoro thought.
Gazing towards the helm he noticed Usopp. He had been sitting at the helm for a while in deep thought, a state Zoro rarely sees him in. Zoro has a hard time taking him seriously most of the time, but he cares for him as much as anyone else.
He feels grateful for these moments with everyone as the world has been unrelenting in its hatred for their existences. Zoro sighed, laying on the grass. He closed his eyes.
He does not talk about how difficult these past two years have been on him. He feels much stronger but a little empty. While recalling his training with Mihawk he pondered the promise he made to Kuina years ago and the weight his crew has had to bear, especially Luffy.
Zoro began to drift to sleep.
“Zoro-kun.” Silence.
“Zoro-kun.”
“What?” He replies with his eyes shut.
“Zoro-kun.”
“Whaaat?” Zoro opens his eyes to find Usopp sitting next to him, fiddling his fingers.
“Who’s guarding the helm?” Zoro asked, slightly worried they would veer off course.
“Jinbei-san. He couldn’t sleep and asked to take over.”
“Ok.” Zoro shut his eyes again.
“Zoro!! Talk to me!” Usopp demanded urgently.
“What do you want?”
Usopp sighed. He seemed more troubled than before. Granted, he was always troubled when it came to fighting but this time felt different. Zoro said nothing, however, as he was not about to make it known he could be socially adept.
“I’m worried about this island we are going to.”
“Why’s that? I thought the great captain Usopp never got scared.” Zoro cracked a smile.
“Zoro-kun! I’m serious!” Usopp chuckled a little then sighed. His tone changed dramatically. Zoro had never seen him this serious, it was slightly worrisome.
“I’ve heard stories about this island. My father would tell my mother stories about a hidden village filled with skilled assassins of all sorts. He dreamed of training there and surpassing them.”
“What’s the problem? Sounds like fighting them will be fun.” Zoro fought the urge to take out his katana and practice as his tiredness overtook him.
“My father also spoke of how unforgiving they can be.” Usopp recalled, his eyes filled with fear.
“It’s true.” Jimbei chimed in. He could not help but overhear what he believed to be an important conversation.
“I’ve heard the world government fear them and bribe them to stay hidden. Their cause is a mystery. No one knows what they do and where their power comes from. They are invisible.”
“Invisibility can still be cut down.” Zoro proclaimed. He knows better than to go into a fight not believing he will win and surpass his limits.
“I sure hope so.” Usopp stared blankly for a while then laid down on the grass.
Jimbei walked back to the helm and Zoro closed his eyes and began imagining his life as the world’s greatest swordsman and nothing else.
He felt a little lonely even with his friends with him. He shrugged off his lonely feelings and began to drift off to sleep unaware his life was about to completely change.
