reblog this and put in the tags something you watched that terrified you as a child. i was so scared of the hot sauce in spongebob that i refused to be in the room when it was on
#okay so preface#my dad rented movies that were totally inappropriate for children all the time#i don't know if he didn't care or thought we wouldn't understand#or if his concept of “scary” was irreparably skewed by being a combat veteran#the first movie i really remember seeing on vhs was predator (“the leaf monster”) when i was around three years old#but the movie that scarred me (and my brother) for life was fire in the sky#i think i must have been around 8 at the time?#to this day neither of us will watch it#dad also rented black robe one time which i forgot about#until i was a college freshman and we watched it in my “europe and the world” class#imagine flashing back in a lecture hall with 300 other people#wild times man

Sharing a little slice of summer solstice Americana with you ♡
Imagine eating this at a picnic table at the lake. It's cool beneath the towering pines, cooler from the breeze coming in off the big water. You are exhausted from playing, soggy in your swimsuit, sunburnt, and deeply happy.

I went to an honest-to-god MALL today, and they were PUMPING 90s/10s hits into empty hallways. Groove Is In The Heart, Blue (Da Ba Dee), and Call Me Maybe turned up to 11 for an audience of one as I waited for the GAP outlet to open 30 minutes late. Surreal.
#beanie irl#i realized i don't have any nice tops for my interview#and the only place that had my size in-store was at the mall#truly nostalgic#but only a shadow of what it once was#anyway now i have one blue and one white button-down shirt#wfh has ruined my sense of work fashion so i went with the classics#ngl besties i wish one of you had been there with me#i needed someone to rizz me up after looking at myself under the awful dressing room lights#deep tag confession i also just missing shopping with friends sigh

Summer Reading '25
Every girl (gn) knows the best way to dissociate is by reading a book.
Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe – Incredibly charming and folksy story, sweet queer rep, but also historical racism. Plus, Kathy Bates was wasted on the unbelievably awful screen adaptation.
The Lifeguards – I thought this would be a trashy murder mystery, but I actually really enjoyed it. The author has a great style that made me want to start writing again, and her characters are fantastic.
The Jetsetters – I liked the author of The Lifeguards so much that I read another of her books. As a daughter from a dysfunctional family, this one was a kick in the teeth. 11/10, will read more.
Model Home – Horror story with POC and queer rep, but I stopped reading halfway through because it made one too many mentions about child sexual abuse for me.
Fire Season – Historical fiction with a paranormal twist. An interesting premise, decent characters, and good writing, but I thought it was just okay.
Our Little World – Another murder mystery and more family dysfunction, but this one focused on sister relationships. Rubbed salt in my gaping sister wound.
