Why AREN”T you using WARP!

Oh my gosh!! Why are you still using the terminal that came with your computer when you COULD be using WARP!!! 

OK OK! What is it? 

Warp is a Rust-based terminal that feels like a modern day application. Gone are the days of having some weird color schemes to choose from! Gone are the days of not being able to split your terminal pane in different ways!! You can pick from the many themes that they offer OR even create your own!! 

Things it can do:

Each command is typed in a block where you can then scroll back and forth.  These blocks section off each input and output in order to give some organization to the terminal! I LOVE IT! 

It has Text-editor features such as being able to write on multiple lines and placing your cursor in two different areas to help add text to both! 

Let’s not forget about command lookup! You mean I no longer have to Google the command?? Nope!! You can use the AI Command Search feature to look up how to create that new branch so you don’t mistaken commit to master :P lol

It’s also Backwards compatible and works with ZSH, FISH, and Bash out of the box! 

Why I like it?

Setup was easy! 

I really enjoy the creative themes that come with it!

After my First 2 Weeks -  Update 003

Hello and welcome back to another segment. 

I completed my first two weeks of work at this new job and it has been amazing! Everyone I’ve met have had nothing but open arms. I really appreciate it. Especially coming from a company where it was varying temperatures depending on who you talked to.

They have me learning Ruby and Ruby on Rails so my goal is to have Intro to Ruby done by the end of the month and then Ruby on Rails done by end of December so that I can go into the new year ready to really make some strides.

I also won the company costume contest lol. I had to come in swinging! I plan to take on ALL the contest. 

It has been such a long road and usually you feel like you can relax and chill.....NAH I feel like I have to keep that pressure up! Keep that foot on the gas type of mentality to make something shake! I’m not going to become a doer.

I will be an achiever at this company! I plan to stay here for a long time. This is the type of company where they value tenure. So as long as there’s room to grow and my career is progressing in a steady way (meaning if I’m not getting promoted at least every 2 years, something isn’t right). That’s the type of timing I’m on.

But of course I have to thank God for this whole opportunity! I mean it was provided while we were in a PANDEMIC! Where it seems that more people are getting laid off and even fewer are being picked up for work! I beat out candidates and took care of everything I had to take care of while TRUSTING God to take care of stuff that I could not! So all praises to the amazing GOD!

Update 002

These last few days have been rough!  On one hand, I was able to get a job as a Technical Support Engineer!!! Which is awesome because the company starts everyone at this level and then in a year I’ll be promoted to Software Developer working on the backend mainly, utilizing ruby on rails.  On the other hand, I didn’t know until AFTER I got the job offer that there was a drug screening....

Now, lets clear something up, I do NOT do or condone drugs!!  [redacted] is NOT a drug, fight me. LOL

But I am annoyed at the fact that I found out AFTER I got the job. But I placed it in God’s hands. It’s not like I was [redacted] anytime recently, but still it’s the principle! 

Anyways! Piss test tomorrow and I will definitely be passing it!! 

IN OTHER NEWS

Worked with Flask for the first time and my conclusion is that uhhh I’d rather work with Django. It’s so much better. I don’t have to worry about folder structure!!! BIG PLUS, and my environment just feels better in Django.

For those that Don’t know Flask is like a “simple” web framework while Django is a FullStack web framework. But I do like the templating. I need to work on getting better with Design. I just really have no desire to do it! I’d rather work on logic lol

INTROOODUCIIIIIINNG!!!!

Hello there and welcome to my blog!!

I started this blog in order to help hammer in different things I learn throughout my career as well as help those searching for the same questions I have. My ultimate goal with this blog is the sharing of knowledge and information! 

I am an IT professional. My career has been 6 years long and currently transitioning into the development side of IT. I started in Desktop Support , went to a bootcamp and now have been in the job hunt. Since graduating the bootcamp I’ve been tidying up old projects, updating my skillset through continuous learning, built an AR base solar system, and played with cloud technologies. 

Hopefully this blog will allow me to see just how far I’ve come while helping you all out with answer questions!

Please submit questions and I’d love to answer them. If I cannot answer them I will definitely point you in the right direction.
