Singing Songs of Fire - Ep. 1
Tumblr media
Welcome to Glimmerbrook
Navigating your way through a minefield of potions and spells isn’t exactly easy to begin with, but it’s even more challenging with no one to guide you on your journey into the unknown. Gillian, a newly awoken spellcaster with very little to her name, has just set out on a foolhardy quest to rebuild a dead legacy from the ground up. It would have been awful nice if that mysterious figure from her past had ponied-up some pointers on HOW exactly she was supposed to fulfill such a ridiculous request, but that seemed like too much to ask considering it didn’t even mention that the grounds of her ancestors were nothing more than a flat piece of land these days. Oh, it also had a few old bones grumbling under foot. Musn’t forget that lovely little detail.
Tumblr media
The purchase of this shabby plot of land alone ate up most of Gillian’s funds, so she has had no choice but to set up camp with some basic necessities and some crafting supplies until things pick up. Without a proper teacher, this little caster has been experimenting in her cauldron with pretty much anything that she can get her hands on. “Can I substitute spinach for sage?”
Tumblr media
The residents of Glimmerbrook decided to wheel out the welcome wagon for their newest neighbor after watching Gillian set herself on fire for the 3rd time that day. Maybe they were just being considerate, assuming that all that burning passion for the arcane arts builds up an appetite. Maybe they just wanted to get rid of an old fruitcake and grab front-row-seats to this impromptu comedy show; who’s to say?

Singing Songs of Fire - Intro
Tumblr media
The Magical Dynasty Challenge
Long ago, the name Firesong carried weight in The Realm of Magic. Renowned as masters of their craft, their potions drew casters from every corner of the world. It was said that a Firesong potion could never fail. Whether those wild rumors held any truth in them or not, the family’s reputation brought them admirers as well as bitter rivals. After-all, when one family of casters swallows up all the potion sales, their competitors are bound to get a little.. upset. Fearful for their fortunes and the future of their families, the other potion-makers set their differences aside to organize an attack on The Firesong Family that nearly destroyed them at their roots. Nearly...
Despite all their efforts, one member of the Firesong bloodline managed to escape with their life. They left Glimmerbrook, their family name, and all they’d ever known behind them to start a new life, free of magic and all the havoc it wrought. For generations, the remnants of the once great Firesong bloodline became diluted with human blood, forcing the magic in their veins to succumb to a death-like slumber. Gillian was the first to awaken the gifts of the ancients after discovering a relic tucked away in the dust and the gloom.
The mirror called to her as a child in a wordless hum that she felt in the very marrow of her bones, and she understood. With small, trembling hands, she pulled back the dusty sheets to reveal a pair of burning golden eyes staring back at her. “Blood of my blood...” The words bore into her skull. “The fire’s song will burn once more in the hearts of our kin! You, child, bear the burden of your forebears. Through you, the Firesong name MUST live again! Restore that which was lost. Atone for the sins of the one who ran and bring honor to the dead-names from which you sprang!“
Tumblr media
Gillian was forever changed by that experience. It deeply frightened her at first, of course, but as she grew, the message from the mirror became an ever-present call to action. When (at last) she discovered her powers and recognized herself as the heir to the Firesong bloodline, she assumed her forgotten family name and set off on her quest to fulfill the oath she had made to the faceless figure from her childhood. She would not allow the name “Firesong”  to suffer a second death. Not while she drew breath.

Episode 61:
The Trouble with Twins
To say Bruce & Lee Howell have been a handful from day one would be a massive understatement. Now that the twins have learned how to walk and talk, they’re constantly on the move and causing chaos everywhere they go. If Winter & Lou thought their first two boys were a handful, these little rascals will certainly give them a new found appreciation for their older children. Mischeif and mayhem. What fun!

Episode 59:
Planets & Junk
When Stefan came home with a project from school, Lou offered to lend a hand. More hands makes less work, right? Stefan’s solar system project turned out better than he’d hoped thanks to a little help from dear ol’ Dad. It was good thing too because he desperately needed the extra credit. Report cards are going to be rough this period. Maybe he can add a few.. er.. creative adjustments before mom finds out..?

Episode 55:
Stefy! Who’s Greg?
Forrest has heard a few of the adults mention Greg but every time he asks them who Greg is, everyone just tells him to go play. That’s okay. He’s sure his big brother knows more about Greg than anybody else. What Stefan does know is that the stories he’s heard about Greg would probably scare a little kid like Forrest. Tempted though he may be to give his little brother all the gory gossip, he’s got too much going on to saddle himself with another grounding so he decides to regale his curious companion with colorful kid-friendly rendition of the tale of Greggorius Lunvik.

Episode 54:
Flying & Falling
Stefan had always been a little shy around kids his own age, so making friends at school wasn’t exactly easy. Lucky for him, his new neighbor just so happened to know a thing or two about how to approach skittish animals. Mei quickly became Stefan’s first and closest friend. They’d often waste hours running around Moonwood Mill after school. Sometimes, he’d even remember to tell his parents where they were going. Most times he’d get an earful as soon as he stepped through the door.

Episode 50:
Heart To Heart
“You are irreplaceable, Stefan. No one could ever take your place in our hearts.”
Stefan’s recent change in attitude drew some concern from his parents. One day, Winter decided to sit down and have a heart-to-heart with her eldest to try to find out what was bothering him. It wasn’t like him to distance himself like this. After some prodding and good deal of pestering, Stefan’s jealousy of Forrest was finally revealed. He’d never really hated his little brother, but he did admit that he felt like he was being replaced. That bitterness had been eating away at him for weeks and made it hard to be around his family that seemed to be having so much fun with just the three of them.
It took some time, but his mother was eventually able to convince him to calm down. She then reminded him that he and his brother held completely separate corners of her heart that were made just for them. No one could ever replace either of them. Lou must have felt the same way and asked her son to please tell them when something’s bothering him like this in the future.
“We may not be perfect,” Winter said “but we will always be here for you. You know that, right?”
Stefan smiled with a quick nod. He did. Of course he did. Hearing those words now made him feel silly for ever doubting her.

Episode 49:
Jealousy
“I’m fine. I’m just tired.”
Although Stefan is well aware that toddlers require a lot more care than a child his age, he can’t help but feel like the odd-man-out.  His younger brother has been gobbling up so much of his parents’ time lately that it seems like there’s never any left for him. Sometimes being the mature older brother can be really tough, even if he won’t admit it.
