At Beat Train Productions, we can do all of that and more. For us, itâs not just about the music. Though it is important for an event and wedding DJ to have the freshest mixes, what matters most is you. Some DJ companies just pair you with whichever DJ is available. Weâre not that kind of DJ company. Itâs important to us that you not only have the freshest mixes, but also that you have the absolute best wedding in Boston or NY (with the best wedding DJ, of course). That means having the best experience. A major part of having the best experience with a wedding or event DJ is having the right DJ. Thatâs something you learn when youâve been successfully DJing and MCing events as long as we have. You put a lot of time and planning into your wedding or event to make it unique. We get that. So you should have a DJ who gets that, too. At Beat Train Productions, weâre all about custom, tailor-made experiences. Thatâs why weâre the Northeastâs premier boutique event and wedding DJ service. We donât just assign you a DJ youâve never met and hope for the best. And the first time you meet your DJ definitely wonât be on the day of your event. Thatâs not the Beat Train way. We want to get to know you and learn what makes your wedding, corporate event, or any other celebration unique. Events should be as unique as the person throwing them. No wedding or event is truly great without the best music. Even with meticulous planning, if no one is enjoying the entertainment, an event can quickly fall flat. Weâve always had a soft spot for weddings. Being a part of the biggest day in ...

Corporate Events â How To Elevate Your Guests Photo Booth Experience
When you think of hosting a successful event, Iâm sure that some key elements come to mind. You might be thinking, how can I best use cocktails, food, atmosphere and event entertainment to elevate my guestsâ experience? These elements are always a consideration, because they influence the way your event is remembered, no matter what type of event you are planning!
In our opinion, one way you can easily entertain your guests and create a memorable event is hiring a photo booth! And really, photo booths will work for any kind of event⊠from holiday parties to business leadership training and just about everything in between!
After all, you want those who attend your event to have loads of fun and remember the experience for a long time to come. But, hiring a photo booth company for your next event doesnât just need to be about entertainment. Hiring a photo booth can also encourage interaction among your guests and can be highly beneficial for your overall event marketing strategy!
Enhancing Your Brand And Increasing Brand Recognition
There are many ways for you to use a photo booth to boost your brand identity. To start you can customize the photo booth to feature your logo or product line. The branding can both be on or surrounding the booth (with banners) as well as embedded into the images/prints your guests take home. You can also visually showcase your brand, by decking out the booth or backdrop with your logo. As a bonus, when the images are printed with the logo it means that your branding efforts will organically reach a much larger audience, wherever your guests display their photos.Â
After all, most of your guests will share these images on their social media sites, and when they do they will be sharing your brand with a large cross-section of people you might not have reached otherwise.
Inadvertent Content Creation
Since visual content is one of the quickest ways to capture peopleâs attention, added to the fact that images are more likely to get shared across the many different online platforms, having a photo booth at your event allows you to inadvertently create content that will be shared online! The best part of all of all of this, is that this will occur with very little effort on the part of your company! Your guests will have the ability to conveniently post these images online, so youâll get your logo and branding shared to thousands of people almost immediately. After that, the images are likely to be re-posted, re-shared and then viewed by thousands, organically extending the reach of your marketing campaign.Â
As a business, hiring a photo booth for your branding or corporate event is one of the most cost-effective ways to get original content to a wider target audience as well as enhancing your companyâs esteem within your current target audience.

5 Reasons Why You Shouldnât DIY Your Photo Booth
Celebrations can be pricey, so we know the appeal of freeing up space in your party budget! But, it shouldnât come at the expense of having a proper photo booth experience at your event! In the big picture, hiring a professional photo booth adds up to only a small part of your budget, but that small outlay will make a HUGE difference at your party! Let us show you why itâs a good idea to hire a professional, and if youâre in the Boston or New York Area, please feel welcome to get in touch with any questions you might have!
The Savings Wonât be Much⊠Really!
After you go through the work of sourcing or making a backdrop, buying your props, figuring out proper lighting and which camera to use (including remote triggers), your savings will be slim to none. Not to mention all the time you will have invested; meanwhile, a professional photo booth company already has all that equipment and all the necessary supplies on hand. And, not just that, theyâll also have high quality/commercial versions of all of it! Quality is of utmost importance after all. But, itâs really not just about the gear. Professionals will also have proven experience setting up and using the gear. All of that means that a professional wonât trouble-shoot problems at your event when they could be taking photos of your guests.Â
Youâd be Lucky If Itâs Half As Good!
Not trying to offend, just stating our (very experienced) opinion! People always start their do-it-yourself photo booths with the very best of motives, but find out rather quickly that sourcing all the materials they are going to need is both expensive and time consuming. And if prints are important to you, and quality prints are more important, the printers we use are far more expensive than one booking! With all everything involved, and with everything else youâll have going that day, your energy is better spent elsewhere! Why go to all that expense to end up with an end result that is so much less satisfying than the real thing? Your money and time is truly better spent hiring a professional company and leaving everything else to them! Trust us!
Printing DIY Photos Is Kinda Complicated!
With a DIY photo booth, youâre unlikely to be able to offer your guests prints to take home, due to the rather complicated process of taking the photos from the camera, and formatting them into an instantly printable format. And, the truth of it, is that people LOVE taking home multiple photo booth prints. For some guests, itâs really all about the prints! Many guests leave with a stack of photo booth prints, enough to cover their entire fridge doors, or tuck into their book as a bookmark! Photo booth prints are quite simply a great take home remembrance of your party, and could be a replacement for more traditional wedding favors! And, on a closing note, your guests will get a small hit of remembrance everytime they see them!
Mad Props Yo!
In our vast experience, people really LOVE photo booth props! Theyâre entertaining! Theyâre colorful! They can act as a great ice-breaker for shyer guests who arenât used to being the center of attention, and they can also be a fun tool to unleash your guestsâ imagination, while also serving to get them into party mode! But, hereâs the kicker! Props can also be expensive, especially when youâre building your collection from scratch! Meanwhile, weâve already invested the capital in high quality props and signs, of all different kinds and themes no less. If you were to add up the cost of a comparable amount of props, in a comparable quality, that we bring out to our events, it would end up being quite costly! Why go to that expense and trouble? Let us help instead!Â
No Added Pressure On Your Big Day!
Weddings include SO many details, and you have enough to think about already! The last thing that should be occupying your time on your big day is setting-up and running the photo booth. We also donât think it should be the responsibility of one of your guests, that ensures that everyone can let loose and enjoy the party! You and your nearest and dearest have memories to make, and loved ones to spend time with, not spare time to spend managing the photo booth!! When you hire a professional photo booth company theyâll take care of all of the work for you; meaning, theyâll show up at their scheduled time, do set-up, run the booth, engage with your guests and make sure the whole thing runs flawlessly. The best part is that it will all happen without you lifting a finger, after allâŠItâs their entire job to make sure you and your guests have a wonderful photo booth experience!

Thinking Of Planning A Surprise Wedding?
Imagine this⊠Your closest friends and family arrive for your engagement party and, surprise, theyâre really there for your wedding! Maybe youâre looking to eschew the drama of a big bash, or maybe you simply have a smaller budget to work with. Whatever your reasons, a surprise wedding can be an intriguing alternative to a more traditional party.
More and more couples who wish to sidestep a lavish affair but still want something special are now forgoing traditional nuptials for a surprise party they spring on their guests. And what could be easier than by inviting them to another big party, to hide the ruse? While a surprise wedding offers the feel of an impromptu elopement, behind the scenes it still involves a great deal of planning and organization.
Be Sure a Surprise Wedding Is Right for You
First things first. Before you start formulating your secret celebration plans, take some time thinking about if you and your partner are both okay with giving up some of the traditional pre-wedding festivities and gifts. Bypassing a conventional wedding also often means missing out on some of the fun that goes with it, like having a bridal shower, bachelorette or bachelor party.
But, if youâre the type of couple that really doesnât want all the fuss, attention or pressures of planning a big wedding, then you may be well suited to this type of wedding!
So, Who Do You Tell?
The whole goal is to keep things under wraps until the big reveal by telling only the people you absolutely need to, such as your wedding vendors and their staff. This is where hiring a great team of professional wedding vendors will be of the utmost importance, since you wonât be able to ask many friends or family to participate. But, in our opinion, sharing the secret with your parents could be a good idea! This is especially true if youâre worried about how they could react on the big day. Plus, they might be excited and happy to be part of the planning, and in on the secret.
How to Get Everyone There
To give credence to your ruse, youâll need a party-worthy occasion, such as a milestone birthday or your engagement. This helps to stress the importance of your guestsâ attendance without giving away the real reason. Also, your cover story and invitation should match the style of your actual event; for example, donât use a casual backyard barbecue as your ruse if youâre hosting a formal cocktail party. Another tip that will help the fake event look legit, is sending out the invites 4-6 weeks in advance. That invite timeline is more in keeping with a Birthday, Anniversary or Engagement party, so your guests will not expect whatâs coming!
Donât Forget The Logistics
Even with a surprise affair, youâll still need to secure the traditional wedding basics, such as getting your marriage license and hiring an officiant, as well as hiring your caterer and entertainment. Think about the style of ceremony and reception you want, both of which will require a few tweaks to keep the secret wedding concealed. Youâll also still need to have an approximate guest count when you meet with your caterer so that they can work with you to create a delicious menu that will complement your party size and vibe!

Most Photogenic Locations in Boston
So⊠youâre getting married in Boston! Have you given some thought to where you might like to take your engagement or wedding photos? What kind of vibe are you looking for in a photo location? Are you looking for an edgy urban feel, a lush park vibe or are you going for somewhere deep rooted in the history of the area?Â
No matter what youâre going for, Boston can deliver! Here are some of our favorite locations for photography sessions in the Boston area.
Beacon Hill
Beacon Hill is the first location that comes to mind, and can easily be described as one of the prettiest neighborhoods in the entire Boston area. And, when it comes to Beacon Hill, the Instagram worthy Acorn Street is top of the list! This picturesque cobblestone alleyway lined with red brick houses, black shutters and overflowing flower boxes is utterly charming! Just be sure to go early to avoid the tourists!Â
Also located in Beacon Hill, is the very photo worthy Chestnut Street, and the Massachusetts State House, both of which are a nod to the areaâs historic affluence and distinguished architecture.
Boston Common
Boston Common is Bostonâs answer to NYCâs Central Park! Truly a haven within the city, Boston Common will provide a wealth of photography backdrops to choose from! You are spoiled for choice with the parksâ long tree alleys, reflecting ponds, charming tiny bridges, open grassy spaces. Not to mention the Parkman Bandstand, and the adorable swans and swan boats in the Boston Public Garden. All of those features combine to create an interesting contrast to the tall buildings that surround the park and an almost inexhaustible variety of backdrops and styles of photography to choose from.
Boston Public Library Courtyard
The Boston Public Library Courtyard would make an amazing backdrop for your engagement or wedding photos, and in fact you can host your wedding there too! But, back to the courtyard! The perimeter of the courtyard itself is lined with impressive columns and archways, and a beautiful fountain statue sits proudly in the middle. There are so many angles to use to capture great shots so your photographer will want to take their time to get creative. Just be sure to check out the locationâs photography policy on their website to avoid any conflicts.
Marshall Street
Marshall street will take you back in time with its charming cobblestone streets and quaint brick storefronts. But, new Boston also makes its presence known, with the surrounding skyscrapers in the background. Put the two together and it creates an interesting juxtaposition in your photos. Also, The Union Oyster House has a bright red neon sign that makes for the perfect addition to your photos, blending vintage charm, modern architecture, and retro vibes all into one, and giving you lots of bang for your buck!
Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum
With its gorgeous architecture, rich history and lush gardens, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is easily one of the most beautiful and photogenic places in all of Boston! The architecture of the building was inspired by 15th-century Venetian palaces, featuring grand open balconies on each floor and archways overlooking the absolutely stunning courtyard below. The museum itself is host to more than 7,500 paintings, sculptures, pieces of furniture, and other objects. Just be sure to get in touch with the museum and request permission to take photos, to avoid conflict with other groups utilizing the space, as the museum has an abundance of event spaces available for celebrations, that could be in use at any given time. Or, solve that problem by hosting your wedding there too!

Can We Entertain You? Embracing The Unexpected For Your Reception
When you think of wedding entertainment what comes to mind? You might think of a wedding band, or maybe an awesome DJ â hint, hint â and, maybe even a photo booth, but what weâre seeing at events is a great deal more eclectic than that! Here are a few of the fun things weâve been seeing at receptions!
âPlein Airâ Painters
Weâre seeing an increasing trend of âPlein Airâ painters on site at weddings, and we think thatâs a beautiful thing! Live, on site Artists are not an alternative to hiring a photographer or videographer for your big day. They are instead a beautiful accompaniment to your weddings, and a part of the wedding entertainment, while also creating a truly unique and beautiful keepsake that you can enjoy for a lifetime! In an age of digital saturation, I think itâs particularly wonderful to have a tangible and unique memory of your day.Â
Caricature Artists
When you hire a caricature artist for your wedding, you give your guests a fun opportunity to see themselves through the eyes of an artist, plus, with a caricaturist, you can have entertainment that fits seamlessly into your reception and makes your guests laugh and smile all night! As a bonus, most professional caricature artists can draw 15-20 black and white faces an hour, so everyone that wants a portrait can get one, with very large weddings possibly requiring 2 artists or more. The best part is that your guests will walk away with a cute memento that will remind them of your special day for years to come.
Drag Queen Performances
Hiring Drag performers for dinner and reception opening wedding entertainment, is one of the fun trends weâre seeing this year! Drag performances are known to bring an element of fabulousness â and major fun â to any party, and your wedding is no exception! Whether youâre a part of the LGBTQ+ community, or simply an ally, this year is the perfect year to embrace that inner diva and bring the camp, by hiring a drag performer to wow your guests. Itâll be sure to put your guests in the party mood, as a Drag Queen will put on a dazzling live show full of glamor, cheeky banter and beloved songs. After such a performance, your guests will be itching to get up out of their seats and break it down on the dance floor!
Why Stop ThereâŠ
Weâve only listed a few ideas here, but, truly the world is your oyster! You could hire a fancy mixologist, a live magician, acrobat troupes, burlesque dancers, a bagpiper, a incognito opera singer ready to belt a tune, a Celtic drum line or troupe of Celtic dancers, a night ending fireworks display, a game show host to lead your guests through a interactive wedding game, or have a karaoke cocktail hour. Embrace whatever floats your boat, and makes your heart go pitter-pat and your guests wonât be able to stop themselves from getting in on the fun!

One Hit Wonders That Everyone Loves to Dance To
What is a âOne-Hit Wonderâ anyway? Well, technically a âOne-Hit Wonderâ is a musical artist or group that had only had one successful chart-topping hit and then never achieved that level of success again. Some of these artists may have an impressive music catalog but, for one reason or another, they still struggled to ever again capture the success of that one song that made them famous.Â
To us, the only thing about âOne-Hit Wondersâ thatâs important, is that they get you smiling, grooving and getting down on the dance floor! Because, after all) thatâs the true measure of a dance song!
There might be some songs and artists on this list that surprise you, youâll be sure theyâve had more hits, and youâll rack your brain thinking about the other great songs by these artists⊠but youâll surely come up short.Â
Now, onto the music! Weâre pretty sure that youâll be tapping your toes in no time!
One Hit Wonders to Pack the Dance Floor
âTainted Loveâ â Soft Cell
âTake On Meâ â A-Ha
âThe Lion Sleeps Tonightâ â The Tokens
âWatch me (Whip/Nae Nae)â â Silento
âWalking on Sunshineâ â Katrina and The Waves
âBillionaireâ â Travie McCoy
âTurn Me Onâ â Kevin LyttleÂ
âDonât Worry, Be Happyâ â Bobby McFerrin
âMacarenaâ â Los Del Rio
âMambo No. 5â â Lou Bega
âStacyâs Momâ â Fountains of Wayne
âCupid Shuffleâ â Cupid
âWhat is Loveâ â Haddaway
â99 Luftballonsâ â Nena
âIâll Be There for Youâ â The Rembrandts
âWe No Speak no Americanoâ â Yolanda Be Cool
âIâll Melt With Youâ â Modern English
âFunkytownâ â Lipps Inc.
âJumpâ â Kris Kross
âSend Me An Angelâ â Real Life
âTell Himâ â The Exciters Â
âCome on Eileenâ â Dexys Midnight Runners
âIâm Too Sexyâ â Right Said Fred
âMy Sharonaâ â The Knack
âMickeyâ â Toni Basil
âManiacâ â Michael Sembello
âI Believe in a Thing Called Loveâ â The Darkness
âReady To Goâ â Republica
âI Want Candyâ â Bow Wow Wow
âIâm Gonna Be (500 Miles)â â The Proclaimers
âPlay That Funky Musicâ â Wild Cherry
And, last but not least, everyoneâs favorite party ending song:
âClosing Timeâ â SemisonicÂ
Which One-Hit Wonders Are a Must Play?
So, how many did you immediately start humming and singing as soon as you saw them on the list? How many songs did you have to look up? Any that surprised you? Any you canât stand, or canât live without? Make sure to let your DJ know when youâre planning your event!
But honestly, the bottom line is, itâs rare for musicians to ever write one chart topping song, let alone a great song that lodges itself deep into our collective experience! We think that everyone on this list wrote great songs that captivated the world. I think you have to respect that, even if the song ended up being their only chart topper!

Hosting an LGTBQ+ Inclusive Event
The LGBTQ+ Community and The Music Industry, A Long History
When we break it down, music and expression in dance, and the LGBTQ+ Community just go together! They go together like peanut butter and jelly, like milk and cereal⊠you get the idea! Over many decades; lyrics, harmonies and rhythms have been used to express the joy, frustration, elation, hope and anxiety associated with expressing non-normative sexual and gender identities.
Music is one of the most accessible mediums that offers marginalized groups a vehicle for expressive freedom, which is both socially acceptable and approachable and appreciated by all! As such, music helps to foster empathy, understanding, tolerance, acceptance and even celebration. But even more than all of that⊠Itâs where so many of the best songs have come from!
Does it Matter if Your Event is Inclusive?
In our opinion, and with our expertise, our Answer is a resounding yes! To start, it is simply the right thing to do! People are people and love is love! Itâs also a way to extend your values into your event⊠itâs one thing to say that youâre accepting, itâs another thing to demonstrate it. And, lastly, hosting an inclusive event objectively improves the experience for everyone in attendance, which we think is always a good plan! Hosting an inclusive event is also easier to achieve than you may think, and the music you play can make a big impact!
Everyone is Welcome on the Dance Floor
Dance is a universal language and should be available and comfortable for all! Being a great equalizer, music brings together people from all different walks of life and experience. Everyone has their own way of moving and adds their own special flavor to the mix. After all, isnât it the very differences between us that make life interesting! Wouldnât life (and parties) be boring if we were all exactly the same?! Dance floors should be a beautiful tapestry of humanity! Everyone should be welcome on the dance floor!
Now⊠About the Music!
With so many songs to choose from, from so many eras and genres, this is in no way a full list, but rather a good starting point! With that in mind, here is a great list of LGBTQ+ Anthems you can include at your next event!
âFollow Your Arrowâ, Kacey Musgraves
âGo Westâ, Pet Shop Boys
âBraveâ, Sara Bareilles
âDancing Queenâ, ABBA
âFireworkâ, Katy Perry
âI want to Break Freeâ, Queen
âBorn This Wayâ, Lady Gaga
âRebel Girlâ, Bikini Kill
âGrace Kellyâ, Mika
âItâs Raining Menâ, The Weather Girls
âAll the Loversâ, Kylie Minogue
âFreedom!â, George Michael
Big Results, With Only a Few Tiny Changes!
A great first step is adding music that will engage everyone, but how about going a little bit further to bump up the inclusivity factor at your event? Another very small (in our opinion) , but super impactful change is to switch to using gender neutral terms, instead of gender specific terms when addressing your honored guests. Here are a few that come to mindâŠLadies and Gentlemen can easily transform into Distinguished Guests, or Honored Guests. Hey Guys can be changed to Hi Folks, Hi Yâall of Hey Friends! Another quick idea is to leave traditional honorifics like Mr. and Mrs. off place cards, or giving your guest the opportunity to choose their honorifics on their RSVP. Small changes like this can add up to big differences to your guestsâ experiences! Those few small changes donât in any way detract from your event, and will very likely make some guests in your group feel right at home! Seems like a no-brainer to us!Â

Why You NEED to Dance on Your Wedding Day
Theyâre All Here For You!
Really! They Are! Imagine it⊠Itâs YOUR wedding, and youâre surrounded by all your very dearest family and friends. Every single person present has been carefully selected by you and your sweetheart to share in one of the very biggest days of your lives! As such, all eyes are on you, and you get the honor of setting the tone and pace for your celebration. Consider yourself the ringmaster of your very own wedding circus! Youâve painstakingly selected every detail after all, now itâs time to enjoy it! And, make sure everyone else enjoys it too!Â
Want your wedding to be one for the books? A memorable occasion that brings a smile to peopleâs faces long after the big day? Then itâs up to you to make it happen! No pressure though⊠it really is easier than you might think!
Not a Dry Eye in the Room!
Maybe you donât like being the center of attention, maybe you prefer to be a background player, but thatâs not really an option at your wedding! Everyone thatâs there loves the two of you, is happy to be included, and wants to witness your happiness up close and personal! Â
They want to see your first dance! It doesnât matter whether itâs more traditional, or if you decide to go all the way and choreograph an elaborate dance routine. Theyâre there to see YOU not to criticize your dancing! We promise! With our 13 years of experience, we know what weâre talking about! You can decide how far you want to take it, but for the love of all thatâs good⊠get up and dance!
Break it Down on the Dancefloor!
Some of the most memorable moments of your wedding will happen after all the official stuff and traditions are completed. Everyone is ready to get up and let loose and celebrate after all the emotion of the day!Â
So, if you both want a hopping party at your wedding, get your butts on the dancefloor! You are the guests of honor, so if youâre dancing, your guests will want to join you! After all, they came to spend the day celebrating the two of you! And, thereâs a special kind of magic that happens when youâre dancing with a big group of Grandparents, Parents, Aunts, Cousins, and friends! These truly are the kinds of memories that only appreciate in value over time!Â
Picture it! The party lights are shining brightly, the music is pumping, the dance floor is full of all your nearest and dearest who are all dressed to the nines, bodies are swaying, people are grooving, everyone has big smiles on their faces! Pretty special right?Â
The Cherry on Top of Your Sundae
Weddings are huge events that change the arc of peopleâs lives, and expand their families, and we feel that itâs always an honor to be included in one! Going with that analogy, if your whole wedding is the sundae, we consider the dance to be the cherry on top! Not an afterthought, but an important detail that brings a little something special, a little flair and sweet memories⊠if you will. So, if you want that little something, that cherry on top⊠youâre going to have to get up and dance!!

Ceremony Music â How to set the tone of your ceremony with music
The time has arrived! All the planning of the last months, or years have built up to this moment! Itâs time to walk down the aisle! For many people, the wedding day doesnât really seem to start until theyâre walking down the aisle towards their sweetheart! Everything you have been planning as a couple has been building to this very moment, and itâs only natural to want that to go off without a hitch! We believe that music can be a huge element in the overall feel and tone of your wedding ceremony! So, here are a few ideas to make sure you hit the right note (ba dum bum ch!), and find wedding music that reflects who you are as a couple!
How do you want your ceremony to feel?
Music evokes an emotional response, and that effect is amplified at weddings, so spending some time thinking about the tone you want to set on your big day is time well spent!
What is the vibe youâre going for as a couple? Are you looking for classic instrumental music, such as a string quartet or cello? Are you looking for something less traditional such as jazz, indie or folk? Are you looking for sparky and fun, or chill and subtle? Take a moment to think about the most memorable wedding ceremonies youâve attended. What about the music made them stand out?
Itâs a soundtrack, not a concert
Even Though the music is an important element, it is only one element, and it should never take center stage and overshadow your wedding! You want it to be ambient, but also played at a comfortable volume for your guests. You might not want to choose anything too loud, or anything that your guests will have to strain to hear. When it comes to the processional itself, you might want to pick something a little more relaxing, in a natural walking rhythm, so that the bride and bridal party have a calm, relaxed walk up the aisle.Â
Donât make your decisions on the fly!
When it comes to your wedding, follow your heart instead of the trends. You donât need to do what everyone else is doing, and you donât need to pick the biggest or newest songs on the radio! The biggest requirement for your ceremony music is that the songs you pick are personally meaningful to you as a couple!Â
Itâs official! Youâre married⊠Now what?
Youâve exchanged vows and rings, signed the paperwork and kissed! Now, how do you want to take your first walk as a married couple? How do you want it to be remembered? Are you looking for something traditional? Are you planning on dancing up the aisle to something kinda cheeky? Do you want the wedding party to get in on the dance? The choice is yours! The only prerequisite is that â like the rest of the music you picked for the day â you love it, and it reflects who you are as a couple! No matter what you choose, we think youâll rock it! Â

Why Explicit Lyrics Donât Belong At Your Wedding Reception
You probably already have some important songs in mind that have to be played at your wedding. Every couple has those songs that remind them of their relationship. Every individual has songs that are nostalgic for them, their friends, and their family. There is a temptation to play these songs unhindered by censorship. While these songs may not be completely âexplicitâ, there are occasionally themes or words that would not sit well with a wedding crowd.
Respecting Guests
There are guests who may get a little uncomfortable when they hear profanity. This could be older guests who may feel the words are disrespectful. This could be religious individuals or people who have a personal problem with bad language. This could be children who do not need to be exposed to more mature themes. Weddings are a time for people to come together and celebrate. Itâs not a good idea to leave a bad taste in their mouths as they celebrate you.
The exception to this would be if you know for a fact that there will not be anyone in attendance who will be offended. It is better to err on the side of caution. If you are questioning whether a guest will be offended, you can always ask them. If you do not feel comfortable asking, then you probably already know the answer. Do not yuck a yum by playing music that will make people squirm.
A Reverent Event
Weddings are mired in tradition and respect. The people who attend your wedding will have a certain expectation. Weddings are generally classy affairs. You will be spending a lot of money to make sure that everything is perfect. Nothing can kill a mood more than hearing some unsavory language in the middle of your reception.Â
There are plenty of versions of songs available that have a censored version or a radio edit. This can make sure that there is not a sudden surprising word popping up while you may be talking with more reserved family members. But just because it is censored does not mean it is in the clear yet. Context with songs is important. If it is a song that has a disrespectful subject matter, this can be worse than hearing a few bad words.Â
If You Must, Play Them Late
You are a grown adult. You do not have to feel like you have to keep your reception puritanical. You can still let loose and play the music you like. It is just a better idea in the long run to either cut those songs or wait until later in the evening. After dinner and a few reception standards, guests will naturally start to thin out. Older guests and guests with children tend to be the first to leave. Once you feel as though everyone in attendance will be game, you can really play whatever you want. At the end of the day, it is your wedding and you should be able to celebrate how you see fit. Remember to be respectful, but do not feel like you have to make everyone happy all the time.
