so if you're wondering, yes, i've heard about the news regarding caddy deactivating his twitter and instagram accounts. i'm hoping that he's just taking a break, but we've never had anything this drastic happen before.

it should go without saying that y'all give caddy and his family and friends privacy. don't try to contact cerys or olly.

in the meantime i will be compiling stuff i've saved and stuff that's still on his abandoned facebook and tumblr account in the off chance his insta and twitter go down for good. obviously not everything will be saved but we need to do the best we can.

due to tonight's events i'm gonna be pausing my caddicarus fandom activities until caddy returns to posting content on his main channel or caddy plays. this means that the brickhouse will not update (not even for the months in history highlights), and i will not post anything to my instagram fan account.

"where's bricks and border?"

since 2024 started i've been “decluttering” my online presence. i deleted both of my onward tumblr blogs as i realized how insecure and desperate for validation i was back when i used them (and i was just generally tired of getting notifications from them).

and another thing that has been sitting in my mind is bricks and border. i came up with the idea for this AU 9 months ago and was pumped to start writing it. through these 9 months i released a lot of art for it, and hyped it up. i was going to release the first chapter in december - but the release day came and went. i just couldn't gather the concentration to write the damn thing.

not only could i not concentrate on it - but several of the youtubers i was originally going to feature in this AU have been exposed for being weird/awful/etc. and as the months went on the domino effect of drama began to affect the nerdy/geeky corner of youtube bricks and border is specifically based around. i would have to keep rewriting stuff, and eventually i just thought to myself that this is just going to keep happening over and over and over again. nothing is sacred. even though i believe i chose two youtubers that are at very low risk of being exposed for anything to be the main protagonists of this AU, they aren't sacred either.

did i understand in the first place that something like this could age poorly? yes, i did. but i loved the idea too much, and then commenced 9 months of false hope. 9 months where i pondered over the morals of something like this and kept insisting that it’s heavily fictionalized versions of real people. after all, people do stuff like this all the time with other celebrities!

and yet…it got to a point where i began to feel icky, no matter how many excuses i made.

so…is bricks and border canceled? as a youtuber AU, yes. but are oaksport and the stories of these characters gone for good?

i don't want this world to go to waste. maybe i’ll file off the serial numbers and make it into my own thing. i love this world. i love these characters. but…scott the woz’s lore doesn't come into play much here, other than scott, rex, and jeb being there. laz is as far from the actual jim caddick as he could possibly be - he’s basically a completely different person who just looks and sounds like him.

the number one thing that’s limited me with this story is that it features fictionalized versions of real people. but if i just change around a few things - i can now do whatever the hell i want! i can ship whatever characters i want, i don't have to worry about things aging poorly, i can assign sexualities and neurodivergencies to characters, i can do all the things i wanted to do that i previously couldn't because i personally felt it was invasive.

i can keep the characters the exact same…i just need to change their names!

obviously the name “bricks and border” will have to go. not sure what it’ll be changed to yet. but i know that this story ain't going nowhere!

i can only hope y’all will respect my decision. while others might not feel as icky about writing something like bricks and border, for me it personally felt more and more wrong as time went on. eventually as soon as trouble reached the completionist and chuggaconroy/lady emily i had to take the whole “youtuber AU” part of it to the back of the shed. as i said before, the story and characters will be the exact same…it's just that some names will be changed. i hope y’all will still be interested in reading. however from this day on, art/updates on the story will no longer be posted on this specific blog.

I’ve been asked this before and honestly I find it sad that we live in a world that makes this a question even worth asking in the first place. Whatever you like, wherever you like to have your genitals (obviously unless it’s morally and logically abhorrent like children), whatever parts of your body you do/don’t like - who the fuck cares. Nobody should care. It harms nobody. It changes nothing. People that get worked up over what people feel and like confuse and anger the shit out of me.

Anyone that has any kind of problem with gay/trans etc people need to get a fucking life and find things worth getting angry about. If your very existence feels threatened by people that don’t feel exactly the same way as you do, grow up.

do you have any info on the pre-caddy plays livestreams? the ones that were dumped on caddy's conundrums and are now lost.

only two pre-2020 streams were ever archived and put on conundrums. these are both from around late 2014 - here is a capture of the front page of caddy's conundrums from may 2016.

neither of these have captures...

but luckily an old friend of mine had both streams saved on her google drive!

it was something about his oddworld tattoos, all i could find was this facebook post

it was a bet lorne lanning made, he saw caddy's tattoos and thought they were fake initially. lorne said that if they were real, he would take him out to nice dinner. a couple years later at EGX 2017, lorne saw that they were in fact real, and because they were two tattoos, he owed him two great dinners.
