Hey, guys!
I just wanted to let everyone know that I’m still alive; I just haven’t really felt the motivation for Tumblr recently. I don’t really have a clear reason but instead a constellation of little ones. I’d mentioned having a rough time after a breakup and that’s still true, I’ve had a really rough semester, so many of the people I was following moved on after the change in content guidelines and I’ve found a home on other platforms instead. If you want to find me elsewhere then you can find me on Twitter or on Pinterest, and if you want to follow me on Instagram then just send me a message or an ask off-anon and I’d be more than happy to let you know where to find me!
I will still use Tumblr on and off, but for now all of the platforms mentioned above are a better place to keep up with me if you’re interested. I want to thank everyone for sticking around through this period of inactivity, I will try and keep this up as much as I can <3

tadhdfw you’re explaining something to someone but you have an opportunity to use your hyperfixation as an analogy that you just can’t resist so now you have to explain two things at once to the person and they’re probably even more confused now

Going to the grocery store is ADHD hell. I need to plan everything I’m gonna buy or else I just end up buying something random like a light bulb or some pens and no food

adhd gothic
you want to watch a movie. you put it on. two hours have passed. you haven’t watched the movie. there are five new tasks in front of you. you want to watch a different movie.
there is an object in your hand. it is extremely important you don’t lose it. you look down. there is nothing in your hand.
you don’t know your friend’s name. you’ve been friends for months. they just told you their name. you do not know their name.
your friend doesn’t laugh at your joke. why didn’t they laugh? do they hate you? they assure you otherwise. you know they are lying. did they ever like you?
someone asks you what you just said. did you say something? you said so many things. you said nothing. you said everything.
there is something you’re forgetting. you check. you check again. there is nothing you’re forgetting. there is something you’re forgetting.
you had something to say. you can’t remember. it was important. wasn’t it? you can’t remember.
there is a task that needs to be done. it should take ten minutes. you check the clock. it’s been five minutes. you check the clock. it’s been two days.

I remember thinking that my adhd doesn’t affect my relationships and now looking back on that, I was so wrong.
It’s not an excuse for the things that happen, but I think it helps me understand why some of the bumps happened.
A fight between a friend and I about me not listening to her struggles and brushing them off, I think it was me listening but not regulating well. I came off as not listening at times because I’d be doing something else. It’s a rough road and the strain that ADHD symptoms cause on a relationship are real.
For instance, some people just don’t understand ADHD. And frankly, probably never will. No matter the explanations and help towards understanding, some just don’t get it.
ADHD can pull a partner/friend’s attention away due to hyperfocusing and new ideas.
Our emotional dysregulation and Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria can make us seem self-centered and overly-emotional/sensitive. A lot of us have short tempers and that can make even the simplest arguments major.
We’re frustrating and annoying because of hyperactive and impulsive symptoms.
Our poor memories, time management, and executive dysfunction can make it difficult to get things done, especially on time.
These things, along with many others, add up, and because ADHD is chronic, they generally don’t go away. These symptoms cause strain and even break relationships. They’re hard to deal with outside of the ADHDer but even harder to live with.

Does anyone else with adhd not know what their “best” is? Like I’ve always been told that I should do my best but I can never tell the difference between my adhd symptoms and “just being lazy” so when I got bad results in school I never knew if I at least did my best or if I didn’t even try
