It's June 20th, which means... summer has officially arrived! ☀️
In Our Life, summer is where it all began – where we met Cove, Baxter, Derek, and the unforgettable community of Sunset Bird.
To celebrate, we're thrilled to debut the Our Life Cookbook! Over the last few months, community members have been cooking up a storm, crafting recipes inspired by Our Life: Beginnings & Always. We've gathered their creations into one heartfelt (and 100% free) digital cookbook, made with love, for you.
Tumblr media
Thank you to the home cooks that created these recipes, and to you, the community, for continuing to show your love for Our Life.

I now realize why I, and many others, envy the Ghibli girls – because of the one I don't envy: Anna Sasaki (the main character of When Marnie Was There).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In scenes that make us crave the Ghibli "lifestyle", for a lack of a better term, the characters are doing extremely mundane activities – something we, theoretically, could easily integrate into our lives. In fact, most of us already do. The top results on Pinterest for "Ghibli mood" are made up of studying, working, doing chores, eating, cooking or sleeping.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So why do we envy them? Now it's time to go back to Anna Sasaki. The third picture I used of her was in the beginning of the movie as she was drawing. On paper, she's doing a mundane activity in a Ghibli movie. It should count, right? But no one envies her. Because she, as opposed to the other Ghibli girls, isn't occupied by the activity she's performing.
Tumblr media
She's occupied with concerns. She's not in the present, but inside her head – as most of us are. The instances where we feel envy are the ones where the characters are in reality, it's as simple as that. They're not thinking about all the other things they need to get done, or how they don't fit in, or about that one awkward moment from 3 years ago. They're doing one singular activity, and that's it. They're trurly at peace.
We envy that.

Familial Trauma Prompts That Are Beyond "My Parents Died"
𖦹 Parent-sponsored Sibling Rivalry: the parents give the star child the most attention, creating unhealthy competition between their children that leads to a toxic household.
𖦹 Constantly Absent Parents: they're always somewhere, but just never at home. Before you know it, the kid is raising him/herself and any siblings.
𖦹 Emotionally Absent Parents: this time, they're there. But only physically. There never there when the child is stressed, confused, or breaking down. They're like a ghost who's present but useless.
𖦹 Overly Conservative, Outdated Parents: the parents who treat their kids like they're in the 1900s. Their expectations for their children are so out of touch and restricting that the kids don't know how to express themselves anymore.
𖦹 The Ignored Child: this is the child that the parents pay least attention to. They're not quite good enough to be applauded and not quite unique enough to get noticed.
𖦹 The Manipulative Guardians: they'll guilt-trip, gaslight--they'll do anything to make their child act as a puppet for them. They're not raising the kid; they're investing in them.
𖦹 The Vicariously-Lived-Through Child: what their parents failed to do will be what their child will succeed. They push their offspring towards their regrets without consideration of the children themselves and force them to fix their regrets by living vicariously through them.
𖦹 The Parents with High Expectations: they expect nothing but the best for their child. Their ideals are so unrealistic that they're simply impossible, but the kid must achieve them regardless. For a while, they're at the top before the break down and come crashing back to Earth.
𖦹 The Toxic Sibling Parents Are Unaware About: a child that appears perfectly responsible, sweet, and well-behaved in front of parents is actually a demon in disguise when alone with their sibling(s). They're manipulative, blackmailing, and toxic, but the parents refuse to believe it.
𖦹 The Constantly Blamed Kid: the child that's blamed for every mishap. Every time a mistake happens, every finger is pointed at them. When they grow up, they can't help but become excessively defensive because they're so used to someone shooting at them from the other side.
𖦹 Parents Who Never Listen: these are the parents that always jump to their own conclusions. They make assumptions and decisions without ever consulting the kid first, but on the off chance that they do, they simply don't listen. They always assume that they know best, even if their choice is related to their child, not them.
Happy Writing~
3hks :)

idk why but i struggle to study topics that i don't rlly care about. like they may not even be hard, just not amusing enough for me to care yk? like me with liquid solutions or physical chemistry as a whole. i love organic and inorganic chemistry. cause it makes sense yet i am always on the edge of my seat cause there's always gonna be smth that will be new yet familiar yk? also im great at memorization so that's one thing. physics....is something. like same mindset but if i can't visualize it boom it's gone. maths is just maths. i don't rlly know to say about maths. it either goes well or it doesn't, a gamble really.
for the past two days i have been revising atomic structure. a chapter i have basically ran away from for a whole year and ohmygod it's so easy. it's actually not all that bad. even though it's physical chemistry. even though it has a shit ton of formulas. even though the whole shell subshell concept sounds bullshit to me cause uh hello? didn't we just define that shells can't rlly work for electrons due to their dual nature, specifically their wave nature? so orbits shells whatever are just things of the past now? why still bother with them in quantum theory yk? okay but otherwise it all adds up and makes sense so yay!!!
conclusion: just do it...but when the time is right.
